Two cases of verminous arteritis were chosen for this case. These horses were originally submitted for necropsy in the Cheju horse race. Case 1 : At necropy, there was increased ascite, thickened ab-dominal aorta at junction of cranial mesenteric artery. In the aorta, there was a long thrombus embed-ded with strongylus vulgaris larvae. Some larvae were also firmly attached in the aortic intima Histologically, there was infiltration of neutropliils, eosinophils, and macrophages in the tunica media. At the junction of thrombus and arterial intima, there was proliferation of vessels. Case 2 : At necropsy, there was thickened abdominal aorta, which showed typical verminous arteritis with thrombus. Histologically, ceseous tissues with haematopoietic tissue was recognized in the aortic wall.

To investgate the causative Virus in aborbon of horse in Cheju, we examined the spleen of affected foal by immunohtochemistq and immunogold electron microscopy using EHV - specific antisera. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that a large number of EHV immunoreadive cells were deteded in the red pulp as well as in the sinudoidal cells in the affected spleen. By the immunogold electron microxopy(EM) of crude preparation of EHV culture, electron dense gold paricles were labelled along the envelope of amorphous virus parhcles with vanng sizes of 50-200nm. We suppose that immunohistochemical method is good for the diagnosis of tissues in EHV infections, and immunogold EM is recommended for the study of virus dia gnosis of fluid specimen as well as the ultrastustural study.

손바닥선인장의 방사선 방호 효과

제주특산 손바닥 선인장의 방사선 방호 효과를 확인 하기 위하여 선인장을 투여한 마우스에 방사선을 다양한 방법으로 조사한 후 소장움 생존(고선량 방사선, 12Gy), 조혈세포 생존(중등도선량 방사선, 6.5Gy), appotosis 형성(저선량 방사선, 2Gy) 실험법을 적용하여 관찰하였다. 방사선조사전 선인장을 투여한 실험군(경구투여: 음수 ml당 2mg 씩 7일간, 복강내주사 : 마리당 1mg 씩 방사선조사 24시간전)에서 소장움의 생존율 및 endogenous spleen colony의 형성정도에는 통계적으로 유의성 있는 차이는 관찰되지 않았다. 그러나 소장움에서의 apoptotic cell의 발생율은 선인장 투여군에서 유의성 있는 억제를 보았다. 이상의 결과는 선인장이 방사선방호 식품으로의 사용 가능성을 제시하였다. To examine the radioprotective effect of prickly pear(Opuntia ficus) sampled in Cheju, we studied crypt survival of intestine, endogenous spleen colony and colony and apoptosis in irradiated mice with or without intraperitoneal injection of prickly pear extract. Although the survival of crypt of intestine and endogenous spleen colony formation induced by radiation was not affected by the pretreatment of prickly pear extract, the frequency of radiation-induced apoptosis in intestinal crypt cells was significantly reduced by pretreatment of prickly pear extract. These findings suggest that prickly pear in part have a potential to protect irradiation through unknown mechanism.

본 연구에서는 광고 비주얼에 표현된 인간관계의 문화적 차이에 따라 소비자의 심리반응이 어떻게 다른지 비교해보았다. 한국적(서구적) 인간관계를 부모 - 자녀, 온가족, 부부, 연인의 네 가지 관계유형으로 나누어 이를 묘사한 인쇄 광고물을 제작한 후, 소비자의 심리반응을 fMRI(기능성 자기 공명 영상) 기법과 설문조사 방법으로 측정하였다. 소비자는 무의식적인 fMRI 반응과 의식적인 반응 모두에서 한국적 광고보다는 서구적 광고에서 더 좋은 반응을 보였다. 특히, 광고효과의 경우 연인광고를 제외한 다른 인간관계 광고들 모두에서 서구적 광고가 더 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 이렇게 전반적으로 서구적 인간관계 광고가 강한 신경 반응과 긍정적 광고효과를 수반하는 것은 한국인들이 상당히 서구적인 가치관을 가지고 있으며 이를 지향한다는 최근 연구결과와 일치한다. 끝으로, 본 연구결과가 갖는 크리에이티브 측면의 시사점을 제안하였다. 유형별 차이로는 연인이나 부부 광고는 무의식적 반응이나 감정반응에서 한국적인 광고가 보다 긍정적인 결과를 보이는 반면, 가족이 등장하는 광고에서는 서구적 광고가 더 긍정적인것으로 나타났는데, 이는 실험참가자가 인간관계 유형에 따라 다른 문화적 인식과 지향점을 갖으며, 이것이 광고반응에 영향을 미치고 있음을 보여준다. The purpose of the present research was to compare the psychological effects of the Korean human relations advertise(KHRA) to those of the Western human relations advertise(WHRA). The consumers’ physiological and conscious responses to the ads including visual images of Korean(vs. Western) four types of relationship - parentschildren, multi-generation family, married couple, and romantic couple - were measured by fMRI(functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and survey. The results revealed that consumers tend to respond more strongly and better to the WHRAs than the KHRAs. Especially, in terms of advertising impacts, the WHRAs were more effective than the KHRAs across the ads of all the three human relations except the ads of romantic couples. These results are consistent with the recent research findings suggesting the Westernizing sifts of Korean cultural values. Finally, they were discussed in the view of the implications of advertising creative tips.

Fine structure of the vomeronasal sensory epithelium of Korean goats(Capra hircus)

The vomeronasal sensory epithelium of goats native to Korea was examined morphologically by light and electron microscopy. The vomeronasal organ is a tubular structure situated bllaterally at the base of the nasal septum. The sensory epithelium hes the m d wall of the vomeronaSal lumen and consists of receptor, supporting, and basal cells. The receptor and supporting cells have prominent microvilli on the luminal surface. In the basal regon, four types of basal cells can be distingushed morphologically. Two of them are attached to the basal lamina. Morphologml characteristics of Korean goat vomeronasal sensory epithelium are discussed in cornpanson to other mammakin vomeronasal epitheha.

The shot peening process is most often used to improve fatigue properties of metal parts. In order to achieve optimum, repeatable and reliable fatigue enhancement from the shot peening process, the important shot peening parameters must be controlled. In this paper, the optimum shot peening condition is investigated. Rotate bending fatigue test was accomplished to investigate the effects of shot peening on the fatigue strength. Experimental results show that the fatigue strength was tremendously increased by optimum peening condition. But the fatigue strength was decreased by under peening or over peening.

Apple Ⅱ 개인용 전산기를 이용한 Key Entry System의 개발에 관한 연구

Using the Apple Personal Computer, a low-cost job entry system for our Computer Center has been developed. since the new system accepts input from cassette tapes which can be repeatedly reused, it is proposed to be considered as a cost-effective alternative to the present card job system. A single system can manage a load as high as 200 typical student jobs per one-day working hours. Though primitive yet, it is pointed out that a networking may considerably improve the feasibility of this approach.

자유경쟁시대를 맞이한 한국 언론인의 의식연구

Korean press is now in the- new competition era when its whole structure has been turned to a free open market system since 1987, owing to strong demand for democracies expanded over every field of society. Though, there was no effort in provide a guideline or suggest a direction for journalists and their organizations as well on the basis of analysis of their awareness on the changed working conditions. In this regard, the primary purpose of the present study was to examine journalist s opinions and attitudes about performance and its social circumstance. The data for this research were collected in 45 days from July 15 to the end of August in 1987. The ample was drawn from editorial rooms of 7 firms including 5 dailies and 2 broadcasting corporations, but persons working in the department of revisal were excluded horn the sample because they were generally considered not journalists. As a result, a total of 319 questionnaires were analyzed in this study. The result of this study mainly displayed four kinds of aspects on Korean journalist's professionalism. First, it showed a high degree of job satisfaction and qualification as journalists. Second, it found two important professional functions (delivery of unbiased information and formation of public opinion in the right direction), four major factors for job speciality including accuracy and critical approach, and relatively strict ethical level for protecting news source, private right and people's right to know. Third, there would appear that the most significant things to accomplish the freedom of press were, complete separation between editing and management' and 'the establishment of democratization within the organization'. Finally, solutions for independence of editorial right, the hottest issue in recent years, were revealed to be 'making diverse kinds of institutional devices to minimize external pressure to editorial room', and 'reforming or improving the unchanged family-oriented management structure'. As above, this pilot research is presumably believed to provide a broad range of knowledge on journalists' own thinking related to the present situation of the press. However, it has some limitation to generalize its result because of its sampling frame Accordingly, it suggests that a future study should be based not only on a theoretical perspective, also on representative sampling.
