<P>The authors present R<SUP>2</SUP>Power, an effective approach to the realizable reduction of RC networks with independent current sources. The proposed approach is based on the entrywise perturbation theory for diagonally dominant M-matrices. The accuracy of the node voltages of the reduced network, as compared to those of the original network, is maintained on the order of the entrywise perturbation performed during reduction. R<SUP>2</SUP>Power can be used to reduce the size of RC networks used to model the power networks of SoCs, for efficient IR-drop analysis. Experiments showed that R<SUP>2</SUP>Power reduced the size of industrial examples by more than 95%, with maximum relative node voltage errors of less than 0.012%.</P>

Purpose: The present study purposed to compare the hand washing effect of 7.5% powidone-iodine, which is used in the operation room of C university hospital in Seoul, with that of Ethyl alcohol-CHG mixture recommended by the US Association of Operating Room Nurses (2002) and to adopt a more effective hand disinfectant. Method: In a quasi-experimental design, 48 medical staff who participated in operations during the period from November 2004 to February 2005 had hand washing using the two kinds of hand disinfectants: 7.5% povidone-iodine and the ethyl alcohol-CHG mixture. Their palms were swabbed and cultured just after hand washing and again after taking dff sterile gloves after the operation. The number of colonies from the two occasions were counted and compared. Result: The number of general bacillus increased significantly in the group using 7.5% povidone-iodine compared to that in the group using the ethyl alcohol-CHG mixture. The number of general bacillus increased signficantly in doctors compared to that in nurses. The factors affecting the increase of the number of general bacillus were disinfectants and medical personnel. The number of general bacillus was expected to increase 9.41 times with 7.5% povidone-iodine than with the ethyl alcohol-CHG mixture and 14.87 times in doctors than in nurses. Conclusion: This study shows that the ethyl alcogol-CHG mixture has a stronger hand disinfection effect than 7.5% povidone iodine. Thus we need to change the hand disinfectant used in operating rooms as soon as possible in order to minimize the infection of wounds resulting from operations.

Objective : The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical outcomes of surgery and coiling and analyze the predicting factors affecting the clinical outcomes of ruptured posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) aneurysms. Methods : During the last 15 years, 20 consecutive patients with ruptured PICA aneurysms were treated and these patients were included in this study. The Fisher's exact test was used for the statistical significance of Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) according to initial Hunt-Hess (H-H) grade, treatment modalities, and the presence of acute hydrocephalus. Results : Eleven (55%) and nine (45%) patients were treated with surgical clipping and endovascular treatment, respectively. Among 20 patients, thirteen (65.0%) patients had good outcomes (GOS 4 or 5). There was the statistical significance between initial poor H-H grade, the presence of acute hydrocephalus and poor GOS. Conclusion : In our study, we suggest that initial H-H grade and the presence of acute hydrocephalus may affect the clinical outcome rather than treatment modalities in the ruptured PICA aneurysms.
Accelerating Relaxation Using Dynamic Error Prediction

<P>A new acceleration scheme that decreases the number of required iterations in relaxation methodology is proposed. The proposed scheme uses dynamic error prediction of an improved approximation to the solution during an iterative computation. The proposed scheme's application to circuit simulations required an average of 67.3% fewer iterations compared to un-accelerated relaxation methods.</P>

We present prediction method of RCS for dielectric coated target which has arbitrary structure by physical optics and geometry optics. Also we introduced to spherical incident wave for a close range between transmitter and target and we calculate received power at receiver. We consider geometric structure of target by triangle facet and propose recursive triangle generation method when target is subdivided by small triangle facet. The proposed model has a superiority for reduction of calculation time and consideration of arbitrary shaped target. There are some simulation data for dielectric coated tarxet and arbitrary shaped target in this paper.
