Simulation Analysis of Indoor Air Flow in a Badminton Gymnasium
Yanli Ren,Deying Li,Yufeng Zhang 국제온돌학회 2007 International Journal of Ondol Vol.2 No.1
To design an efficient and acceptable indoor air environment in a badminton gymnasium, it is important to study the velocity and temperature field in the conditioned room. For diverse airflow patterns, the k- c models with wall function near solid boundaries are adopted to simulate airflow distribution in the gymnasium. The simulated result is analyzed in this paper, and it provides the important reference for the design of air condition system and optimization of the project. CFD is effective design tool for air flow in large space, for it can give the velocity and temperature values at any point quantitatively.

A high performance capillary electrophoresis (HPCE) method was presented to identify and quantitate free amino acids during fermentation by Bacillus subtilis. Amino acids, pre-column derivatized with phenylisothicyanate, were separated and characterized by HPCE. In order to optimize separation conditions, the assay was developed by varying the β-cyclodextrin concentration and pH of the background electrolyte. A buffer system comprising 30 mM phosphate and 3 mM β-cyclodextrin at pH 7.0, voltage of 20 kV and detection wavelength of 254 nm showed the best results, with 17 out of 20phenylthioncarbamyl amino acids in a solution adequately separated. For quantification, p-aminobenzoic acid was added as an internal standard. Analysis of free amino acids in Bacillus subtilis culture medium using this method revealed good consistency with the values obtained using conventional ninhydrin-based amino acid analyzer. Four free amino acids (aspartic acid, glutamic acid, proline, and tyrosine) concentration in an extracellular matrix during fermentation by Bacillus subtilis were mainly monitored using this method.
Measurement and Prediction of Indoor air flow in a Large Space
Zongyi Shao,Yanli Ren,Deying Li 국제온돌학회 2007 International Journal of Ondol Vol.2 No.1
Correct air diffusion is essential for good air quality, comfortable conditions and energy efficiency in mechanical ventilation system. One general method to improve indoor air quality is to simply increase the ventilation rate. This approach, however, often conflicts with building energy efficiency requirement because conditioning outdoor air to the proper temperature, humidity level count for use as ventilation air consumes energy. Therefore, it is necessary for designers to predict the air movement properly. Successful predictions of room airflow yield such information as velocities and temperature distributions, which are useful to building design and analysis. In this paper, the application of computational fluid dynamic (CFD) techniques to large space design and analysis was investigated by comparing the results of CFD simulations and experimental results.
Synthesis and Antibacterial Activity of 1,3-Diallyltrisulfane Derivatives
Ren, Fang-Kui,He, Xiao-Yan,Deng, Li,Li, Bo-Heng,Shin, Dong-Soo,Li, Zhu-Bo Korean Chemical Society 2009 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.30 No.3
A series of novel 1,3-diallyltrisulfane analogues were synthesized and assayed in vitro for antimicrobial activity against Gram positive, Gram negative bacteria and fungi. The antimicrobial activity of the 1,3-diallyltrisulfane derivatives showed, on the whole, very potent towards all the tested Gram positive, Gram negative and fungi (MIC ranging from 4 to 256 μg/mL). 1,3-Di(pent-4-enyl)trisulfane 3b and 1,3-bis(3-methylbut-2-enyl)trisulfane 3e exhibited the strongest antibacterial activity among all the compounds, and both of them were more active than 1,3-diallyltrisulfane (DATS). Results indicated the relationship of either carbon number or lipophilicity with antimicrobial activity presented “V” shape. These observations provided some predictions in order to further design 1,3-diallyltrisulfane derivatives with antimicrobial activity.

To evaluate the effects of glutamine-supplemented parenteral nutrition (PN) and probiotics in adult autoimmune enteropathy (AIE) patients. Four adult AIE patients were identified from April 2006 to January 2012. Clinical and nutritional data were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Glutamine-supplemented PN started immediately when the AIE diagnosis was confirmed. The total PN duration was 351 days. According to the PN prescription, the average caloric intake ranged from 20 to 25 kcal/kg/day, and the protein intake ranged from 1.2 to 1.5 g/kg/day. Alanyl-glutamine (20 g/day) was administered to AIE patients for 4 weeks followed by a 2-week break, and this treatment schedule was repeated when PN lasted for more than 6 weeks. Body weight gain and an increased serum albumin level were achieved after PN, and defecation frequency and quality also improved. Each patient received oral supplements, 250 mL of Ensure and two probiotics capsules (each capsule containing 0.5×108 colonies) three times a day when enteral nutrition started. Three AIE patients were successfully weaned off PN, and one patient died of pneumonia. Glutamine-supplemented PN and probiotics show promise in managing patients with AIE and related malnutrition.

Yan, X.M.,Ren, J.,Ai, H.S.,Ding, N.S.,Gao, J.,Guo, Y.M.,Chen, C.Y.,Ma, J.W.,Shu, Q.L.,Huang, L.S. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2004 Animal Bioscience Vol.17 No.9
The natural resistance-associated macrophage protein 1 (NRAMP1) gene was identified as a candidate gene controlling the resistance and susceptibility to a number of intracellular parasites in pigs. The genetic variations in a 1.6 kb region spanning exon 1 and exon 3 of the porcine NRAMP1 gene were investigated by PCR-HinfI-RFLP in samples of 1347 individuals from 21 Chinese indigenous pig populations and 3 western pig breeds. Three alleles (A, B, C) and four genotypes (AA, BB, AB, BC) were detected. Significant differences in genotype and allele frequencies were observed between Chinese indigenous pig populations and exotic pig breeds, while in general the differences in genotype and allele frequencies among Chinese indigenous pig populations were not significant. The allele C was detected only in Duroc, Leping Spotted and Dongxiang Spotted pig, and the two Chinese pig populations showed similar genotype and allele frequencies. Four Chinese Tibetan pig populations displayed genetic differentiation at the NRAMP1 gene locus. In addition, intron 5 of the NRAMP1 gene was isolated and characterized by directly sequencing the PCR products encompassing intron 5. The alignment of intron 5 of the porcine, human, equine and ovine NRAMP1 gene showed a similarity of 45.38% between pig and human, 52.55% between pig and horse, 63.47% between pig and sheep, respectively.

Aberrant glucose metabolism is a characteristic of bladder cancer. Hyperglycemia contributes to the development and progression of bladder cancer. However, the underlying mechanism by which hyperglycemia promotes the aggressiveness of cancers, especially bladder cancer, is still incompletely understood. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is a kind of methylation modification occurring at the N6 position of adenosine that is important for the pathogenesis of urological tumors. Recently, it was found that the m6A reader YTHDC1 is regulated by high-glucose conditions. In our study, we revealed that YTHDC1 is not only regulated by high-glucose conditions but is also downregulated in bladder cancer tissue and associated with the prognosis of cancer. We also showed that YTHDC1 suppresses the malignant progression of and the glycolytic process in bladder cancer cells in an m6A-dependent manner and determined that this effect is partially mediated by GLUT3. Moreover, GLUT3 was found to destabilize YTHDC1 by upregulating RNF183 expression. In summary, we identified a novel YTHDC1/GLUT3/RNF183 feedback loop that regulates disease progression and glucose metabolism in bladder cancer. Collectively, this study provides new insight regarding the pathogenesis of bladder cancer under hyperglycemic conditions and might reveal ideal candidates for the development of drugs for bladder cancer.
