• Image Recognition of Position and Orientation of Persimmons for Automatic Peeling Machine

        ( Xuefeng Wang ),( Yutaka Kaizu ),( Kenji Imou ) 한국농업기계학회 2018 한국농업기계학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.23 No.1

Peeling in fruit processing has been a painstaking and time-wasting task for manual labor, thus the automation of peeling could effectively improve productivity especially for persimmons that has limited storage life. To provide the specific peeling machine with persimmons via a robot arm made by corporate partners requires data on position and orientation of persimmon with certain accuracy. To meet such demand,we designed two systems which respectively using openCV on Visual C++ to measure current persimmon orientation by detecting its symmetry axis and using Deep Learning on a library named Keras programmed by Python in recognizing the center point of persimmon’s pedicel from above. Up till now, we achieved 92% accuracy in detecting symmetry axis with processing speed of 1 second and a 85% accuracy in recognizing pedicel center points. The former is satisfactory and we are now still working on improving the accuracy of Deep Learning performance.

Evaluation of Different Yeast Species for Improving In vitro Fermentation of Cereal Straws

        Wang, Zuo,He, Zhixiong,Beauchemin, Karen A.,Tang, Shaoxun,Zhou, Chuanshe,Han, Xuefeng,Wang, Min,Kang, Jinhe,Odongo, Nicholas E.,Tan, Zhiliang Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2016 Animal Bioscience Vol.29 No.2

Information on the effects of different yeast species on ruminal fermentation is limited. This experiment was conducted in a $3{\times}4$ factorial arrangement to explore and compare the effects of addition of three different live yeast species (Candida utilis 1314, Saccharomyces cerevisiae 1355, and Candida tropicalis 1254) at four doses (0, $0.25{\times}10^7$, $0.50{\times}10^7$, and $0.75{\times}10^7$ colony-forming unit [cfu]) on in vitro gas production kinetics, fiber degradation, methane production and ruminal fermentation characteristics of maize stover, and rice straw by mixed rumen microorganisms in dairy cows. The maximum gas production (Vf), dry matter disappearance (IVDMD), neutral detergent fiber disappearance (IVNDFD), and methane production in C. utilis group were less (p<0.01) than other two live yeast supplemented groups. The inclusion of S. cerevisiae reduced (p<0.01) the concentrations of ammonia nitrogen ($NH_3$-N), isobutyrate, and isovalerate compared to the other two yeast groups. C. tropicalis addition generally enhanced (p<0.05) IVDMD and IVNDFD. The $NH_3$-N concentration and $CH_4$ production were increased (p<0.05) by the addition of S. cerevisiae and C. tropicalis compared with the control. Supplementation of three yeast species decreased (p<0.05) or numerically decreased the ratio of acetate to propionate. The current results indicate that C. tropicalis is more preferred as yeast culture supplements, and its optimal dose should be $0.25{\times}10^7$ cfu/500 mg substrates in vitro.

      • A novel amphiphilic pH-responsive AIEgen for highly sensitive detection of protamine and heparin

        Wang, Xuefeng,Jiang, Qin,Man, Yuecuo,Feng, Shengyu,Lee, Yong-Ill,Liu, Hong-Guo Elsevier 2018 Sensors and actuators. B, Chemical Vol.261 No.-

Abstract

An amphiphilic aggregation-induced emission (AIE) tetraphenylbenzene derivative, namely 6-(1,3-dioxo-4,5,6,7-tetraphenylisoindolin-2-yl) hexanoic acid (TPHA), was designed. TPHA exhibits pH-responsive AIE properties in aqueous solutions. Its fluorescence intensity in dispersed systems of acidic THF/water increased with an increasing volume ratio of water due to the formation of aggregates, while only very weak fluorescence was observed in basic THF/water dispersions. The formation of aggregates in acidic dispersions could be attributed to the hydrophobic effect, intermolecular π-π interaction, and possible hydrogen bonding between the carboxyl groups. Deprotonation of the carboxyl moieties in basic dispersions resulted in the formation of molecularly dispersed systems. The fluorescence intensity of the dispersions in basic media increased dramatically (turn-on signals) when adding protamine, due to the formation of aggregates via electrostatic interactions between the deprotonated carboxyl groups and protein molecules. A good linear relationship between the fluorescence intensities and the protein concentrations in the range of 0–6 μg/mL was obtained, and the detection limit was calculated to be 4.78 ng/mL. In addition, heparin was found to quench the fluorescence (turn-off signals) of the TPHA-protamine system effectively. Therefore, this strategy can be used as fluorescence probes for both protamine and heparin detection.

Highlights

The fluorescence intensity of TPHA increased as the water content increased.

The fluorescence and aggregate states can be turned through adjusting pH.

TPHA showed high sensitivity and selectivity for protamine and heparin detection.

Graphical abstract

The fluorescence and aggregate states of TPHA can be tuned reversibly through adjusting pH of the solutions. • A Novel Algorithm for Green Citrus Detection based on the Reticulate Grayladder Feature

        Mingjun Wang,Jun Zhou,Weiyan Shang,Rufu Hu,Xuefeng Wang,Liang Gong 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.10

Immature green citrus fruit detection using conventional color images is a challenging task due to fruit color similarity with the background, partial occlusion, varying illumination and shape irregularity. Therefore, most existing green fruits detection algorithms, which use color as the main discriminant feature, have a low recognition rate and a high rate of false positives. In this manuscript, we developed a novel Green Citrus fruit Detection algorithm based on the proposed Reticulate Grayladder Feature (GCDRGF), which contained 4 major steps: First, an 8-graylevel image was generated by the preprocessing steps of median filtering, histogram-based equalization and 8-graylevel discretization of the input raw image. Secondly, reticulate grayladders were obtained by a multidirectional scanning on the 8-graylevel image, and rule-based pseudo-grayladder removal strategies were used to remove false positives of target grayladders. Thirdly, grayladder clustering and fruit location fitting were used to generate candidate regions for target fruits. Finally, majority voting was performed to determine the results of candidate regions based on the analysis of apparent features and recticulate grayladders within candidate regions. The experimental results proved the effectiveness of the proposed reticulate grayladder feature and the corresponding detection algorithm with respect to various illuminant and imaging conditions. Compared with the existed eigenfruit algorithm, our algorithm has a higher rate of successful recognition and a lower rate of false positives, which helps to greatly improve the productivity of robotic operations.

Leader-following Non-fragile Consensus Control of Fuzzy Multi-agent Fractional Order Interval Systems

        Zhe Wang,Dingyu Xue,Xuefeng Zhang,Qing-Guo Wang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2024 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.22 No.2

The consensus control of fuzzy multi-agent fractional order interval systems (MA-FOISs) is proposed in this brief. Firstly, a new model of fuzzy MA-FOISs based on the non-fragile observer is presented. Then, by using the technologies of generalised matrix singular value decomposition (SVD) and linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), the sufficient conditions for determining the consensus of fuzzy MA-FOISs are given through the equivalence of the stability and the consensus of multi-agent systems (MASs). Moreover, when the actual system does not need to be described by the fuzzy set, the consensus conditions for the MA-FOISs are given. Finally, the validity of the results given are illustrated by the numerical example.

      • A New MAC Protocol PB-TDMA for WSNs Based on Event-driven

Hui Wang,Xuefeng Li,Yunfeng Wang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.9 No.11

In order to improve the WSN, a novel WSN protocol based on the event-driven named PB-TDMA is proposed. One of the problems in the WSN protocol is that each node’s probability of data delivery is usually diverse at different time and environment. This paper puts forward a method to resolve such a problem. It makes two nodes with different probability share a time slot which could use to compress the frame length and enhance the utilization ratio of channel. In addition, through running statistics on the probability of each node’s data sending, it proposes a new allocation method of time slot to avoid data collision. On the basis of the above strategy, we can constantly update the delivery rate to achieve the goal of adaptive. Simulation results show that PB-TDMA protocol performs better for wireless sensor network with high-density deployment and moderate load.

Parallel Shunt for the Treatment of Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt Dysfunction

        Xuefeng Luo,Ling Nie,Jiaywei Tsauo,Zhu Wang,Chengwei Tang,Xiao Li 대한영상의학회 2013 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.14 No.3

Objective: To investigate the safety, efficacy and long-term patency of parallel shunts (PS) in the management of the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) dysfunction. Materials and Methods: Between March 2007 and October 2010, 18 patients (13 men and 5 women) who underwent TIPS revision with the creation of PS were evaluated retrospectively. In the first 10 patients, a 10-mm-diameter Wallgraft endoprosthesis was deployed; in the latter 8 patients, an 8-mm-diameter Fluency endoprosthesis was deployed. Results: The creation of PS was technically successful in all patients. The mean ± standard deviation portosystemic pressure gradient before and after the procedure was 25.5 ± 7.3 mm Hg (range, 16-37 mm Hg) and 10.9 ± 2.3 mm Hg (range, 7-16 mm Hg), respectively. The duration of follow-up was 16.7 ± 10.8 months (range, 6-42 months). The primary shunt patency rates at 12 months after the creation of PS was 70% with Wallgraft endoprostheses and 87.5% with Fluency endoprostheses. Conclusion: TIPS revision with the creation of PS is a safe, effective and durable method for treating shunt dysfunction.

Double Iterative Compensation Learning Control for Active Training of Upper Limb Rehabilitation Robot

Xuefeng Zhu,Jian-Hui Wang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2018 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.16 No.3

In this paper, the problem of non parametric uncertainty in the active training stage of stroke patients is discussed. On the basis of the nonlinear iterative learning theory, a double iterative compensation learning control is proposed. This method adopts the strategy of double loop iteration which can adjust controller parameters in real time to satisfy the patients’ condition. First, a class of saturated nonlinear functions is introduced to satisfy the requirement of position constraints. Then, reference trajectory self-modified strategy is designed for the initial positioning error. Meanwhile, the iterative compensation controller is designed according to the active torque of the patient, which can provide appropriate power compensation to the affected limb and update the parameters of the iterative learning controller continuously. At last, the convergence condition and its proof are given. The simulation results show the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed double iterative compensation optimal control strategy.

New decoupled wavelet bases for multiresolution structural analysis

        Wang, Youming,Chen, Xuefeng,He, Yumin,He, Zhengjia Techno-Press 2010 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.35 No.2

One of the intractable problems in multiresolution structural analysis is the decoupling computation between scales, which can be realized by the operator-orthogonal wavelets based on the lifting scheme. The multiresolution finite element space is described and the formulation of multiresolution finite element models for structural problems is discussed. Various operator-orthogonal wavelets are constructed by the lifting scheme according to the operators of multiresolution finite element models. A dynamic multiresolution algorithm using operator-orthogonal wavelets is proposed to solve structural problems. Numerical examples demonstrate that the lifting scheme is a flexible and efficient tool to construct operator-orthogonal wavelets for multiresolution structural analysis with high convergence rate.

      • Stable 2D anti-ferromagnetically coupled fluorenyl radical dendrons

        Wang, Jian,Kim, Gakhyun,Sandoval-Salinas, Marí,a Eugenia,Phan, Hoa,Gopalakrishna, Tullimilli Y.,Lu, Xuefeng,Casanova, David,Kim, Dongho,Wu, Jishan Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 Chemical Science Vol.9 No.13

        <▼1>
The first class of stable two-dimensional anti-ferromagnetically coupled dendritic polyradicaloids was synthesized, which show polyradical character and unique properties.
</▼1><▼2>
We report the first class of stable, two-dimensional (2D) anti-ferromagnetically coupled dendritic polyradicaloids. A kinetically blocked fluorenyl radical was used to build up the first and second generation dendrons FR-G1 and FR-G2 containing three and seven fluorenyl units, respectively. The neighboring fluorenyl radicals in FR-G1 and FR-G2 show moderate anti-ferromagnetic exchange interaction, resulting in a doublet and quartet ground state, respectively, with a small doublet–quartet energy gap. From FR-G1 to FR-G2, the energy gap decreased and the two-photon absorption was enhanced owing to more extended 2D π-conjugation. Both compounds showed multiple redox waves due to their polyradical character.
</▼2>
