Non-Contrast Cine Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Derived-Radiomics for the Prediction of Left Ventricular Adverse Remodeling in Patients With ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction

        A Xin,Liu Mingliang,Chen Tong,Chen Feng,Qian Geng,Zhang Ying,Chen Yundai 대한영상의학회 2023 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.24 No.9

Objective: To investigate the predictive value of radiomics features based on cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) cine images for left ventricular adverse remodeling (LVAR) after acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Materials and Methods: We conducted a retrospective, single-center, cohort study involving 244 patients (random-split into 170 and 74 for training and testing, respectively) having an acute STEMI (88.5% males, 57.0 ± 10.3 years of age) who underwent CMR examination at one week and six months after percutaneous coronary intervention. LVAR was defined as a 20% increase in left ventricular end-diastolic volume 6 months after acute STEMI. Radiomics features were extracted from the oneweek CMR cine images using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression (LASSO) analysis. The predictive performance of the selected features was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and the area under the curve (AUC). Results: Nine radiomics features with non-zero coefficients were included in the LASSO regression of the radiomics score (RAD score). Infarct size (odds ratio [OR]: 1.04 (1.00–1.07); P = 0.031) and RAD score (OR: 3.43 (2.34–5.28); P < 0.001) were independent predictors of LVAR. The RAD score predicted LVAR, with an AUC (95% confidence interval [CI]) of 0.82 (0.75–0.89) in the training set and 0.75 (0.62–0.89) in the testing set. Combining the RAD score with infarct size yielded favorable performance in predicting LVAR, with an AUC of 0.84 (0.72–0.95). Moreover, the addition of the RAD score to the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) significantly increased the AUC from 0.68 (0.52–0.84) to 0.82 (0.70–0.93) (P = 0.018), which was also comparable to the prediction provided by the combined microvascular obstruction, infarct size, and LVEF with an AUC of 0.79 (0.65–0.94) (P = 0.727). Conclusion: Radiomics analysis using non-contrast cine CMR can predict LVAR after STEMI independently and incrementally to LVEF and may provide an alternative to traditional CMR parameters.

Preparation of activated carbon spheres and their electrochemical properties as supercapacitor electrode

        An Xin,Xing Guannan,Wang Jing,Tian Yanhong,Liu Yunfang,Wan Qiong 한국탄소학회 2021 Carbon Letters Vol.31 No.4

The carbon spheres (CSs) synthesized by an ultrasonic-spray pyrolysis method were activated for supercapacitor electrode. There are plenty of cracks on the surface of the activated carbon spheres (ACSs), which expend with increasing the activation temperature and activator dosage. The specifc capacitance of ACSs increases with the activation temperature and activator dosage and reach to maximal value at certain conditions. Importantly, the ACS sample activated at relatively low activation temperature (600 °C) and 7 of mass ratio of KOH to CSs has the highest specifc capacitance (about 209 F g−1 at 50 mA g−1 of current density) and indicates the excellent cycling stability after 1000 consecutive charge–discharge cycles. Furthermore, the graphene sheets could be found in the samples that were activated at 1000 °C. And the electrode prepared by the sample has the very low series resistance because of the excellent conductivity of the formed graphene sheets.

Structural time-varying damage detection using synchrosqueezing wavelet transform

        Liu, Jing-Liang,Wang, Zuo-Cai,Ren, Wei-Xin,Li, Xing-Xin Techno-Press 2015 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.15 No.1

This paper proposed a structural time-varying damage detection method by using synchrosqueezing wavelet transform. The instantaneous frequencies of a structure with time-varying damage are first extracted using the synchrosqueezing wavelet transform. Since the proposed synchrosqueezing wavelet transform is invertible, thus each individual component can be reconstructed and the modal participation factor ratio can be extracted based on the amplitude of the analytical signals of the reconstructed individual components. Then, the new time-varying damage index is defined based on the extracted instantaneous frequencies and modal participation factor ratio. Both free and forced vibrations of a classical Duffing nonlinear system and a simply supported beam structure with abrupt and linear time-varying damage are simulated. The proposed synchrosqueezing wavelet transform method can successfully extract the instantaneous frequencies of the damaged structures under free vibration or vibration due to earthquake excitation. The results also show that the defined time-varying damage index can effectively track structural time-varying damage.

      • A Method of Video Shot-Boundary Detection based on Grey Modeling for Histogram Sequence

Xin Liu,Jin Dai 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.4

Video Shot-Boundary Detection is important for video analysis, segmentation and retrieval. The detection results of Shot-Boundary are not only relation with two nearest frames of shot cuts, but also their several neighboring frames. Video stream is multi-stream time sequence. Grey model based on set sequence (SGM) is proposed to analyze and process multi-stream time sequences constructed with sampled histograms in this paper. Consequently, a novel Shot-Boundary Detection method is put forward based on SGM and color histogram, which includes the following steps: (1) When a new video frame coming into the detection system, the image is transformed into intensity image under HSI color model; (2) Histogram of the video frame can be obtained. Then, taking samples for the histogram and constructing set sequence with proximate sampled histograms is implemented; (3) SGM is introduced to simulate the sampled histogram sequence in this detection method. Moreover, absolute mean error (AME) and regulative AME (RAME) with thresholds are applied to make a detection judgment. Finally, the experiments illuminate that the proposed method is an effective Shot-Boundary Detection method, and it is superior to method of Histogram disparity significantly, especially when it is used to detect cuts with some complex video scenes.

Quantum defects of 1s2nh configurations in Li-like system from Sc XIX to Zn XXVIII ion

Liu Xin,Zhang Jingchao 한국물리학회 2022 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.80 No.12

In this paper, the calculated ionization potential by the R-matrix method is compared with that by the full-core-plus-correlation (FCPC) method, which can verify the accuracy of the wave function. The quantum defects of the Rydberg series of the 1s2 nh states from Sc XIX to Zn XXVIII ions are calculated by the R-Matrix method. The quantum defect function of the 1s2 nh channel is obtained by theoretical calculation with the R-Matrix method. The quantum defects and highly excitated energies of high Rydberg states of the 1s2 nh states for lithium-like ions are calculated. Thus the reliable theoretical prediction of energies and quantum defects for the high Rydberg state of lithium-like ions is realized.

      • The Vehicle and Driver of China's Cultural Diplomacy: Global Vision Vs. Localised Practice

Liu, Xin World Association for Triple Helix and Future Stra 2018 Journal of Contemporary Eastern Asia Vol.17 No.1

China's cultural diplomacy is mostly understood as an endeavour to build and project soft power, which draws on three sources of 'culture, political values and foreign policy' according to Nye. This paper focuses on the debates about the vehicle and agents of China's cultural diplomacy. It starts with a theoretical discussion of the competing views in the Chinese context, and develops an argument that the vehicle of China's cultural diplomacy tries to project soft power on two wheels of culture and political values, to serve the purpose of reshaping China's image away from being the 'cultural other' and 'ideological other' respectively. However, the state-led approach to driving this vehicle is generating some side effects with its sponsorship, censorship and presence in the driver's seat. Then the paper analyses the inherent tensions existing in practice both between the two sources of building soft power and between the two means of doing so, attraction and persuasion, with empirical evidence through a comparative case study of the Confucius Institutes in the US and South Korea. The finding shows that China's attempt at reshaping its image as an Eastern cultural contestant is often disrupted by its authoritarian political values, and the state-led persuasion is often reducing China's cultural attraction. Following this, the paper finishes with some recommendations regarding evolving the cultural diplomacy approach from a vertical one that is government-centred to a horizontal one that is network-based with multiple agents, and localising its practice by engaging the target audiences as stakeholders.

        Xin Chao Liu,Xiao Nan Lu,Qi Zhi Liu,Zhi Long Liu 한국응용곤충학회 2014 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.17 No.4

Water-distilled essential oil from the dried bulbs of Allium chinense (Liliaceae) was analyzed by gaschromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Eighteen compounds, accounting for 98.4% of the total oil, were identified and the main components of the essential oil of A. chinense were methyl allyl trisulfide(30.7%), dimethyl trisulfide (24.1%), methyl propyl disulfide (12.8%) and dimethyl disulfide (9.6%) followed bymethyl allyl disulfide (3.4%) and methyl propyl trisulfide (3.6%). The essential oil exhibited contact toxicityagainst the booklice (Liposcelis bostrychophila) with an LC50 value of 441.8 μg/cm2 while the two major constituents, dimethyl trisulfide and methyl propyl disulfide had LC50 values of 153.0 μg/cm2 and 738.0 μg/cm2 againstthe booklice, respectively. The essential oil of A. chinense possessed strong fumigant toxicity against the booklicewith an LC50 value of 186.5 μg/l while methyl allyl trisulfide (LC50=90.4 μg/l) and dimethyl trisulfide (LC50=114.2 μg/l) exhibited stronger fumigant toxicity than methyl propyl disulfide (LC50= 243.4 μg/l) and dimethyldisulfide (LC50= 340.8 μg/l) against the booklice. The results indicated that the essential oil and itsmajor constituentshave potential for development into natural insecticides or fumigants for control of insects in stored grains.

      • Robust Discrete-time Control for Uncertain time-delay Systems with Nonlinearities Under Hölder Continuity

        Xin Wang,Xin Zuo,Jianwei Liu,Huaqing Liang,Qi Pan 제어로봇시스템학회 2016 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2016 No.10

This paper is concerned with the robust discrete-time control for uncertain time-delay systems with nonlinearities and external noises. The parameter uncertainties enter into all the system matrices. The time-varying delay is unknown with given lower and upper bounds. The stochastic nonlinearities are described by satisfying a class of α Hölder condition. The problem addressed is the analysis and design of a stable controller such that, for all the parameter uncertainties, time-delay, stochastic nonlinearities and external noises, the resulting closed-loop system is exponentially stabile. The controller gain can be got by linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness and verify the proposed theoretical results.

A cross-entropy algorithm based on Quasi-Monte Carlo estimation and its application in hull form optimization

        Liu Xin,Zhang Heng,Liu Qiang,Dong Suzhen,Xiao Changshi 대한조선학회 2021 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.13 No.1

Simulation-based hull form optimization is a typical HEB (high-dimensional, expensive computationally, black-box) problem. Conventional optimization algorithms easily fall into the “curse of dimensionality” when dealing with HEB problems. A recently proposed Cross-Entropy (CE) optimization algorithm is an advanced stochastic optimization algorithm based on a probability model, which has the potential to deal with high-dimensional optimization problems. Currently, the CE algorithm is still in the theoretical research stage and rarely applied to actual engineering optimization. One reason is that the Monte Carlo (MC) method is used to estimate the high-dimensional integrals in parameter update, leading to a large sample size. This paper proposes an improved CE algorithm based on quasi-Monte Carlo (QMC) estimation using high-dimensional truncated Sobol subsequence, referred to as the QMC-CE algorithm. The optimization performance of the proposed algorithm is better than that of the original CE algorithm. With a set of identical control parameters, the tests on six standard test functions and a hull form optimization problem show that the proposed algorithm not only has faster convergence but can also apply to complex simulation optimization problems.

      • Batch Auditing for Multi-client Dynamic Data in Multi-cloud Storage

Xin Liu,Yujia Jiang 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.8 No.6

Cloud storage introduces many challenges due to the security and integrity threats toward user’s outsourced data. Many auditing protocols have been proposed, but the majority of them could only serve in single cloud environment. This paper proposes an efficient auditing protocol, which supports batch auditing for multiple data files in multi-cloud environment. By utilizing the bilinear map, the proposed protocol achieves full stateless and transparent verification. By constructing a Merkle Hash Tree, the proposed protocol can resist the replace attack and support dynamic operation of data. In addition, our protocol protects the position information of the data blocks by generating fake data blocks to confuse the organizer. The performance analysis demonstrates the efficiency of the protocol.
