        Preparation and characterization of novel polyethylene/carbon nanotubes nanocomposites with core–shell structure

        Preparation of novel polyethylene/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) nanocomposites with core–shell structure was presented. The method involved in situ ethylene polymerization in which nanotube surface was treated with Grignard Agent, followed by reacting with active transition metal compound, TiCl4. The multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) supported catalysts polymerize ethylene to form polymer nanocomposite. MWCNTs were homogeneously dispersed within polymer matrix, and as expected, the resultant nanocomposites featured core–shell structure which was confirmed by HRTEM. For the nanocomposite, the microscopic examination of the cryogenically fractured surface not only ensured a good distribution of carbon nano-particles in the PE matrix but also revealed the ductile-like fracture. The Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were employed for the study of covalent sidewall functionalization and chemical bonding environment of MWCNTs, also indicated effective immobilization of titanium catalyst on the MWCNTs surface. The crystalline properties, dielectric property and thermal stability of the nanocomposites were determined by WAXD, impedance analyzer and TGA. The dielectric result showed a slight decline of the dielectric constant of the nanocomposites with increase of the polymerization time, and lower dielectric loss was also observed.

        Time series data has characteristics of huge differences among date values, non-continuity and long time span. Cloudlines layout algorithm can overcome the shortcoming of growing data over time, for the data is non-continuous, cyclical and greatly different in value, and the display is not ideal for space waste and form of a single attribute value data in Cloudline. In the thesis, we put forward the Cloudlines Map Visualization Analysis Methods according to the characteristics and shortcomings of time series data. The methods include data values using a logarithmic transformation, semi-ellipse superimposed waveform, transparency distinguishing the density, waveform smooth transition and unequal axes.         Cloning and Characterization of the IgA Fc Receptor from Swine

        The myeloid-specific IgA Fc receptor (FcαR) is a cell surface molecule on immunocytes that provides a fundamental connection between humoral and cellular immunity. In this study, the full-length cDNA sequence of swine FcαRI (swFcαRI) was isolated and characterized and found to contain a 792-base-pair open reading frame, encoding a 264-amino-acid transmembrane glycoprotein with a predicted molecular mass of 29.4 kDa. The swFcαRI shares high amino acid sequence homology (>50%) with its counterparts from cattle, seal, and horse. Rosetting analysis confirmed that COS-7 cells transfected with an swFcαRI expression plasmid was able to combine with chicken erythrocytes sensitized with porcine IgA, but not IgG.

        Grain Refinement and Second Phases Evolution of Mg-13Gd-4Y-2Zn-0.4Zr Sheet During Processing by Rotary Forward Extrusion

        The grain refinement and second phases evolution of Mg-13Gd-4Y-2Zn-0.4Zr sheet during the rotary forward extrusion(RFE) process were investigated. The microstructures were observed by using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy,electron backscatter diffraction, X-ray diffractometer, and transmission electron microscope. The result shows, the modifiedcellular automata model fully considers the influence of long-period stacking ordered phase on the dislocation density,which can predict the grain size evolution of Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Zr alloy during the RFE process, and the relative error can becontrolled within 10%. With the increase of RFE revolutions, the average grain size firstly decreases quickly (RFE1–RFE25),and then increased gradually (RFE25–RFE100). The decreased grain size is related to the enhanced dynamic recrystallizationprocess as the c-axis of most grains is rotated continuously to a transverse direction and more random texture types areformed. The increase in grain size is linked with the solid solution of the second phase, and the limitation on grain growthdue to the pinning effect of the second phase almost disappears. In the early stage (RFE1–RFE25), the contribution percentageof grain refinement and solid solution strengthening to microhardness improvement is 180.6% and 61.7%, respectively. In the subsequent stage (RFE25–RFE100), the dislocation density strengthening and solid solution strengthening accountsfor 60% and 440% of the increase in microhardness, respectively.

        Preparation of activated carbon spheres and their electrochemical properties as supercapacitor electrode

        The carbon spheres (CSs) synthesized by an ultrasonic-spray pyrolysis method were activated for supercapacitor electrode. There are plenty of cracks on the surface of the activated carbon spheres (ACSs), which expend with increasing the activation temperature and activator dosage. The specifc capacitance of ACSs increases with the activation temperature and activator dosage and reach to maximal value at certain conditions. Importantly, the ACS sample activated at relatively low activation temperature (600 °C) and 7 of mass ratio of KOH to CSs has the highest specifc capacitance (about 209 F g−1 at 50 mA g−1 of current density) and indicates the excellent cycling stability after 1000 consecutive charge–discharge cycles. Furthermore, the graphene sheets could be found in the samples that were activated at 1000 °C. And the electrode prepared by the sample has the very low series resistance because of the excellent conductivity of the formed graphene sheets.
