        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between teaching effectiveness and clinical practice satisfaction among nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 107 junior and senior nursing students in E university. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaire including general and practicum related characteristics, teaching effectiveness of clinical instructors and clinical practice satisfaction from September 12 to September 21, 2011. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS 19 program using t-test, ANOVA with Scheffe test, and Pearson`s correlation coefficients. Result: The mean score of teaching effectiveness was 3.35(±.51), and mean of clinical practice satisfaction was 3.19±.47. There were significant differences of teaching effectiveness of clinical instrutor by satisfaction of overall clinical practicum(F=8.332, p<.001), satisfaction of practice hour(F=3.230, p=.044), and satisfaction of major(F=9.883, p<.001). There were significant differences of clinical practice satisfaction by grade(t=2.274, p=.025), motive of choosing nursing science as a major(F=3.329, p=.007), satisfaction of overall clinical practicum(F=17.437, p<.001), satisfaction of practice hours(F=9.925, p<.001), and satisfaction of nursing major(F=12.748, p<.001). Relationship between teaching effectiveness of clinical instructor and clinical practice satisfaction showed positive correlation(r=.704, p<.001). Conclusion: In this study, teaching effectiveness of clinical instructor was related with clinical practice satisfaction. Therefore, we should consider improving teaching effectiveness of clinical instructor to improve clinical practice satisfaction.

        Carica papaya leaf water extract promotes innate immune response via MAPK signaling pathways

        The emergence and rapid spread of the potentially fatal coronavirus disease 2019, caused due to infection by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2, has led to worldwide interest in developing functional bioactive ingredients that act as immunomodulatory agents. In this study, we aimed to characterize Carica papaya extract and explore its potential as an immunomodulator by performing in vitro cell screening. Papaya leaf water extract (PLW) was found to significantly increase the levels of nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E<sub>2</sub> (PGE<sub>2</sub>) by upregulating inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclo-oxygenase-2 activity, respectively. Additionally, PLW increased the production of tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin 1β in RAW 264.7 cells. Furthermore, PLW activated the expression of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) but not that of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase. These results indicate that PLW increased the production of NO, PGE<sub>2</sub>, and pro-inflammatory cytokines by activating the JNK and ERK pathways in macrophages, thus demonstrating immunomodulatory properties. Finally, high-performance liquid chromatography fingerprint analysis indicated the presence of rutin, narirutin, and ρ-coumaric acid in PLW (6.30, 119.76, and 47.25 ppm, respectively). Treating cells with these compounds at non-toxic concentrations had no effect on NO production. Taken together, these results suggest that PLW may have potential as an immunity-enhancing supplement.

        Development of a highly flexible composite electrode comprised of Ti3C2-based MXene nanosheets and Ag nanoparticles

        To fabricate electrodes for use in fl exible electronic devices with improved resistance to the mechanical stresses induced byrepeated bending, we developed a highly fl exible and conductive composite comprised of Ti 3 C 2 -based MXene nanosheetsand Ag nanoparticles. Specifi cally, we synthesized Ti 3 C 2 -based MXene nanosheets and added them as a second fi ller to anAg dispersion to fabricate Ag–MXene composite paste. Although the synthesized MXene nanosheets are somewhat lesselectrically conductive than pure Ag nanoparticles, the conductivity of the pattern formed by printing this composite pastewas comparable to that of pure Ag nanoparticle-based electrode. Moreover, resistance in the resulting electrode remainedfairly constant despite repeated bending employing a curvature radius of 2 mm. We attribute this to the presence of theMXene nanosheets, whose homogeneously distributed hydroxyl or oxygen terminate surface functional groups preventedor delayed the propagation of cracks inside the printed pattern despite repeated bending.

        Effects of a Posture Correction Feedback System on Upper Body Posture, Muscle Activity, and Fatigue During Computer Typing

        Background: In modern society, the use of computers accounts for a large proportion of our daily lives. Although substantial research is being actively conducted on musculoskeletal diseases resulting from computer use, there has been a recent surge in interest in improving the working environment for prevention. Objects: This study aimed to examine the effects of posture correction feedback (PCF) on changes in neck posture and muscle activation during computer typing. Methods: The participants performed a computer typing task in two sessions, each lasting 16 minutes. The participant’s dominant side was photographed and analyzed using ImageJ software to verify neck posture. Surface electromyography (EMG) was used to confirm the par-ticipant’s cervical erector spinae (CES) and upper trapezius muscle activities. The EMG signal was analyzed using the percentage of reference voluntary contraction and amplitude prob-ability distribution function (APDF). In the second session, visual and auditory feedback for posture correction was provided if the neck was flexed by more than 15° in the initial position during computer typing. A 20-minute rest period was provided between the two sessions. Results: The neck angle (p = 0.014), CES muscle activity (p = 0.008), and APDF (p = 0.015) showed significant differences depending on the presence of the PCF. Furthermore, signifi-cant differences were observed regarding the CES muscle activity (p = 0.001) and APDF (p = 0.002) over time. Conclusion: Our study showed that the feedback system can correct poor posture and re-duces unnecessary muscle activation during computer work. The improved neck posture and reduced CES muscle activity observed in this study suggest that neck pain can be prevented. Based on these results, we suggest that the PCF system can be used to prevent neck pain.

        제주 파인애플 구아바 (Acca sellowiana) 추출물의 항산화 활성 및 피부 안전성

        This study analyzed the antioxidant activity and skin primary irritation test by using hot-water extracts of Acca sellowiana leaves (WAL) and branches (WAB). Due to the recently warmed climate, Jeju Island produces subtropical plants, and the efficacy of one of them, A. sellowiana, has been confirmed. DPPH · ABTS · DMPD radical scavenging activity, ferrous-ion chelating activity, cupric reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC), reducing power assay, ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) were teseted, and total phenol and phenol contents were analyzed. In addition, through skin primary irritation test, it was investigated whether it can be used as a cosmetic ingredient. As a result, in all antioxidant activity experiments, the activity of WAL and WAB increased in a concentration-dependent manner. In addition, the content of flavonoids was contained in the WAL more than WAB, and accordingly, the antioxidant activity of the WAL was better. In addition, WAL is hypoallergenic and WAB is a non-irritating ingredient, suggesting that it is possible as a natural material that can be used in cosmetics in the future.

        Test–retest Reliability and Concurrent Validity of a Headphone and Necklace Posture Correction System Developed for Office Workers

        Background: Office workers experience neck or back pain due to poor posture, such as flexed head and forward head posture, during long-term sedentary work. Posture correction is used to reduce pain caused by poor posture and ensures proper alignment of the body. Sev-eral assistive devices have been developed to assist in maintaining an ideal posture; however, there are limitations in practical use due to vast size, unproven long-term effects or inconsis-tency of maintaining posture alignment. We developed a headphone and necklace posture correction system (HANPCS) for posture correction using an inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor that provides visual or auditory feedback. Objects: To demonstrate the test-retest reliability and concurrent validity of neck and upper trunk flexion measurements using a HANPCS, compared with a three-dimensional motion analysis system (3DMAS). Methods: Twenty-nine participants were included in this study. The HANPCS was applied to each participant. The angle for each action was measured simultaneously using the HANPCS and 3DMAS. The data were analyzed using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) = [3,3] with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results: The angular measurements of the HANPCS for neck and upper trunk flexions showed high intra- (ICC = 0.954–0.971) and inter-day (ICC = 0.865–0.937) values, standard error of measurement (SEM) values (1.05°–2.04°), and minimal detectable change (MDC) values (2.92°–5.65°). Also, the angular measurements between the HANPCS and 3DMAS had excel-lent ICC values (> 0.90) for all sessions, which indicates high concurrent validity. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that the HANPCS is as accurate in measuring angle as the gold standard, 3DMAS. Therefore, the HANPCS is reliable and valid because of its angular measurement reliability and validity.

        1인가구의 우울에 관한 국내 연구 동향 분석

        목적 본 연구에서는 1인가구의 우울에 관한 국내연구의 고찰을 통해 우울에 대한 연구개입의 동향을 파악하고 우울에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하고자 한다. 나아가 증가하는 1인가구 우울의 심각성을 인식하고, 후속 연구에 대한 필요성과 기초적 자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위해 1999년부터 2021년 3월까지 연구된 학술지 및 학위논문 34편을 선정하여 연구 연도, 연구 유형, 연구대상, 변수의 역할, 연구방법, 척도사용, 연구요인을 분석하였다. 결과 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 먼저 일반적 특성의 연구동향에서는 연도별 발행 편수가 2018년에 급증하였고, 연구 설계는 34편 모두 양적 연구만 진행되었다. 둘째, 우울 측정에 사용된 척도는 CESD-11을 가장 많이 사용하였다. 셋째, 1인가구의 우울이 종속변인으로 활발히 사용되었음을 알 수 있었고, 요인별 경향성 분석결과 1인가구의 우울을 높이는 위험요인에 관한 연구가 많음을 알 수 있었다. 결론 1인가구의 우울을 이해하고 심리적⋅정신적 건강함을 추구하고자 하는 국내 연구자들의 관심이 증가하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 다양한 시각의 학문적 접근과 우울과 연관된 변인을 활용한 후속 연구를 기대할 수 있다. Objectives his study, we want to understand the trend of research intervention in depression and analyze factors that affect depression by considering domestic research on depression in single-person households. Recognizing the increasing severity of depression in single-person households, the need for follow-up research and basic data were sought. Methods To this end, 34 academic journals and degree papers studied from 1999 to March 2021 were selected to analyze the year of the study, type of study, subject of study, role of variables, method of study, scale use, and research factors. Results The main results are as follows: First, in the research trends of general characteristics, the number of annual publications increased rapidly in 2018. All 34 research designs were quantitative. Second, CESD-11 was the most common measure of depression. Third, we could see that depression in single-person households was actively used as a subordinate. The trend analysis by factor found that there were many studies on risk factors that increased depression in single-person households. Conclusions It can be seen that Korean researchers are increasingly interested in understanding the depression of single-person households and pursuing psychological and mental health. And subsequent studies using various perspectives of academic approaches and variables associated with depression can be expected.
