<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The aims of this study were to determine the malignancy rate of probably benign lesions that show an interval change on follow-up ultrasound and to evaluate the differences seen on imaging between benign and malignant lesions initially categorized as probably benign but with interval change on follow-up breast ultrasound.</P><P>We retrospectively reviewed 11,323 lesions from ultrasound-guided core-biopsies performed between June 2004 and December 2014 and identified 289 lesions (266 patients) with an interval change from probably benign (Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System [BI-RADS] category 3) in the previous 2 years. Malignancy rates were compared according to the ultrasound findings and the characteristics of the interval changes, including changes in morphology and/or diameter.</P><P>The malignancy rate for probably benign lesions that showed an interval change on follow-up ultrasound was 6.9% (20/289). The malignancy rate was higher for clustered cysts (33.3%) and irregular or noncircumscribed masses (12.7%) than for circumscribed oval masses (5%) or complicated cysts (5%) seen on initial ultrasound (<I>P</I> = 0.043). Fifty-five percent of the malignancies were found to be ductal carcinoma in situ and there was 1 case of lymph node metastasis among the patients with invasive disease in whom biopsy was delayed by 6 to 15 months. The extent of invasiveness was greater in missed cases. There was a significant difference in the maximal diameter change between the 20 malignant lesions and the 269 benign lesions (4.0 mm vs 2.7 mm, <I>P</I> = 0.002). The cutoff value for maximal diameter change per initial diameter was 39.0% for predicting malignancy (sensitivity 95%, specificity 53.5%). The malignancy rate for morphologically changed lesions was significantly higher than for morphologically stable lesions (13.6% vs 4.9%; <I>P</I> = 0.024)</P><P>Our 6.9% of probably benign lesions that showed an interval change finally turned out to be malignancy was mostly DCIS. The sonographic features, interval changes in sonographic features, and lesion size might help in the recategorization of these lesions.</P>

Purpose: This study investigated correlations between the actual sleep time 24 hours prior to an examination and the time to achieve chloral hydrate sedation in pediatric patients. Methods: With parental consent, 84 children who were placed under moderate or deep sedation with chloral hydrate for examinations from November 19, 2020 to July 9, 2022 were recruited. Results: Patients' average age was 19.9 months. Pediatric neurology patients and those who underwent electroencephalography took significantly longer to achieve sedation with chloral hydrate. There was a negative correlation between the time to achieve sedation and actual sleep time within 24 hours prior to the examination. Positive correlations were found between the actual sleep time 24 hoursprior to the examination and the second dose per weight, as well as between the sedation recovery time and awake hours before the examination. Conclusion: Sleep restriction is not an effective adjuvant therapy for chloral hydrate sedation in children, and sedation effects vary according to pediatric patients' characteristics. Therefore, it would be possible to reduce the unnecessary efforts of caregivers who restrict children's sleep for examinations. It is more important to educate parents about safe sedation than about sleep restriction.
Mercury Ion Monitoring in Mercury Plating Bath by Anodic Stripping Voltammetry

Anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) is successfully applied in mM level detection of mercury ion in an electroplating bath which is currently used in preparing a cathodic electrolyzer. Glassy carbon electrode is used for the detection and the optimum condition obtained is 10 s deposition at −1.4 V vs. Ag/AgCl and stripping by scanning from −1.4 to +0.4 V vs Ag/AgCl at 50 mV/s. By applying the method, the mercury ion concentration in the electroplating bath could be successfully monitored during the plating.
스크린 프린팅 방법으로 형성된 은 전극을 이용한 유기물 태양전지의 제작 및 특성 분석

본 논문에서는 유기 태양전지의 전극을 스크린 프린팅 방법을 이용하여 형성하였으며 전자 주게 물질(electron donor)인 regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT)와 전자 받게 물질(electron acceptor)인 pheny-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM)을 혼합한 복합 박막 구조를 이용하여 태양전지를 제작하고 전기적 특성에 대해 분석하였다. 스크린 프린팅 방법을 이용하여 제작한 유기 태양전지의 개방회로 전압(V<SUB>oc</SUB>)은 0.59V, 단락 회로 전류(J<SUB>sc</SUB>)는 8.76mA, Fill factor(FF) 는 0.49, 전력변환효율(η)은 2.60%였다. 이를 통하여 스크린 프린팅 방법을 통한 태양전지 제작의 가능성을 확인하였다.
Development of High Strength Glass-ceramic using Slag for Industrial Application

In Korean steel making industry is generating 25 billion tons of slag as industrial by-products per year. Uses of these slags to manufacture high functional abrasive material are of greater feasible option for sustainable development of industry as well as effectively solve the pollution issue associated with these waste. Recycling methods of slag have been actively studied for decades, but most of the slag recycling methods studied are related to low cost building materials. Recently, several combinations of by-products have been used in glass-ceramic manufacturing, mostly the abrasive materials are basalt based glassceramic. Using these industrial by-products instead of natural basalt ores, high functional product can be manufactured. This piece of investigation focused on the feasibility study for producing the basalt based glass-ceramic from recycled industrial by-products only, without any natural materials as raw materials. By controlling various process parameters like, mixture ratios of materials, heat treatment for casting, and soaking basalt based glass-ceramic were prepared. The prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermo-gravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA). Excellent material properties were observed.

<P>Atopic dermatitis (AD) and stress create a vicious cycle: stress exacerbates atopic symptoms, and atopic disease elicits stress and anxiety. Targeting multiple pathways including stress and allergic inflammation is, therefore, important for treating AD. In this study, we investigated the remedial value of <I>Polygala tenuifolia</I> Willd. (PTW) for treating immobilization (IMO) stress-exacerbated atopy-like skin dermatitis and its underlying mechanism. Trimellitic anhydride (TMA) was applied to dorsal skin for sensitization and subsequently both ears for eliciting T-cell-dependent contact hypersensitivity in mice, which underwent 2 h-IMO stress and PTW administration for the latter 6 and 9 days in the ear exposure period of TMA, respectively. To elicit in vitro degranulation of human mast cell line-1 (HMC-1), 10 µM substance P (SP) and 200 nM corticotrophin-releasing factor (CRF) were sequentially added with 48 h-interval. PTW extract (500 µg/mL) was added 30 min before CRF treatment. IMO stress exacerbated TMA-induced scratching behavior by 252%, and increased their blood corticosterone levels by two-fold. Treatment with 250 mg/kg PTW significantly restored IMO stress-exacerbated scratching behavior and other indicators such as skin inflammation and water content, lymph node weights, and serum histamine and immunoglobulin E (lgE) levels. Furthermore, it also reversed TMA-stimulated expression of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and interleukin (IL)-4 mRNAs in ear tissues. PTW significantly inhibited SP/CRF-stimulated degranulation of HMC-1 cells, subsequent tryptase secretion, and protein kinase A (PKA) activity. PTW also selectively inhibited p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) phosphorylation in SP/CRF-treated HMC-1 cells. PTW significantly inhibited HMC-1 cell degranulation and alleviated IMO stress-exacerbated atopic dermatitis symptoms by modulating the PKA/p38 MAPK signaling pathway.</P>

Purpose: The authors of the present study describe a rare case of angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) of the eyelid. Case summary: A 63-year-old male who was diagnosed with ALHE based on biopsy of an inguinal mass presented with an eyelid mass of 1 month duration. A light brown, solitary, 1.0 × 0.5 cm-sized mass involved the right upper eyelid. There was no lymphadenopathy, but eosinophilia was present. An excisional biopsy of the mass was performed for diagnosis and management. Macroscopic examination of the excised mass revealed a well-defined, smooth, firm, yellowish-red colored lesion measuring 1.0 × 0.6 × 0.5 cm. Histopathology showed the proliferation of small blood vessels, many of which were lined by enlarged endothelial cells with uniform ovoid nuclei and intracytoplasmic vacuoles. The distinctive endothelial cells were described as having a cobblestone appearance. In addition, a perivascular and interstitial infiltrate composed primarily of lymphocytes and eosinophils was present. ALHE was finally confirmed with clinical and microscopic examination. Conclusions: The authors of the present study report a rare case of ALHE of the eyelid and suggest that a differential diagnosis should be considered. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2012;53(5):712-715
