        SPECTRAL PROPERTIES OF k-QUASI-2-ISOMETRIC OPERATORS

        Let T be a bounded linear operator on a complex Hilbert space H. For a positive integer k, an operator T is said to be a k-quasi-2-isometric operator if T^{*k}(T^{*2}T^{2}-2T^{*}T+I)T^{k}=0, which is a generalization of 2-isometric operator. In this paper, we consider basic structural properties of k-quasi-2-isometric operators. Moreover, we give some examples of k-quasi-2-isometric operators. Finally, we prove that generalized Weyl's theorem holds for polynomially k-quasi-2-isometric operators

        A comprehensive genetic algorithm for design optimization of Z-bar loader working mechanism

        The operation mechanism is generally considered as a key component of a wheel loader. Its working performance has great influence on the service life, stability, efficiency and economy of the loader. This paper establishes a mathematical model of Z-bar loader mechanism in polar coordinate with four-bar linkage and six-bar Watt linkage synthesis, investigates the working performance, such as mechanism transmission ratio, carry stability, parallelism, dumping in any position, bucket flat setting, maximum dig depth, extreme transmission angle and so on. Then we explore new design methods of joint-position of Z-bar loader linkage between tilt cylinder and loader frame to perfect some of the performance. A new method, comprehensive genetic algorithm, is presented to optimize non-linear equation with multi-constraints, and the results improve the multidisciplinary performance. Furthermore, a virtual prototype of the working mechanism is modeled to simulate and verify the optimization results.

        Research Articles : Effects of Pellet Heating Time on the Physical Properties of Vacuum-puffed Yukwa

        Experimental design with pellet heating time of 1.00, 1.33, 1.67, 2.00, 2.33, 2.67, 3.00, 3.33, 3.67, and 4.00 min was studied to investigate the effects of pellet heating time on the physical properties (expansion ratio, density and breaking strength) of vacuum-puffed Yukwa. The size and shape of vacuum-puffed Yukwa varied with respect to the pellet heating time.As pellet heating time increased, a values and b values tended to increase. The maximum expansion (4.626) with the lowest bulk density (0.112) was obtained at 3.33 min heating time, whereas the minimum expansion (2.954) with the highest bulk density (0.208) was found at 1 min. The breaking strength of vacuumpuffed Yukwa decreased significantly as the pellet heating time increased. Overall, the heating time had significant impacts on the physical properties of vacuum-puffed Yukwa.

      • Methylated Alteration of SHP1 Complements Mutation of JAK2 Tyrosine Kinase in Patients with Myeloproliferative Neoplasm

        SHP1 negatively regulates the Janus kinase 2/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK2/STAT) signaling pathway, which is constitutively activated in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and leukemia. Promoter hypermethylation resulting in epigenetic inactivation of SHP1 has been reported in myelomas, leukemias and other cancers. However, whether SHP1 hypermethylation occurs in MPNs, especially in Chinese patients, has remained unclear. Here, we report that aberrant hypermethylation of SHP1 was observed in several leukemic cell lines and bone marrow mononuclear cells from MPN patients. About 51 of 118 (43.2%) MPN patients including 23 of 50 (46%) polycythaemia vera patients, 20 of 50 (40%) essential thrombocythaemia and 8 of 18 (44.4%) idiopathic myelofibrosis showed hypermethylation by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction. However, SHP1 methylation was not measured in 20 healthy volunteers. Hypermethylation of SHP1 was found in MPN patients with both positive (34/81, 42%) and negative (17/37, 45.9%) JAK2V617F mutation. The levels of SHP1 mRNA were significantly lower in hypermethylated samples than unmethylated samples, suggesting SHP1 may be epigenetically inactivated in MPN patients. Furthermore, treatment with 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (AZA) in K562 cells showing hypermethylation of SHP1 led to progressive demethylation of SHP1, with consequently increased reexpression of SHP1. Meanwhile, phosphorylated JAK2 and STAT3 were progressively reduced. Finally, AZA increased the expression of SHP1 in primary MPN cells with hypermethylation of SHP1. Therefore, our data suggest that epigenetic inactivation of SHP1 contributes to the constitutive activation of JAK2/STAT signaling. Restoration of SHP1 expression by AZA may contribute to clinical treatment for MPN patients.

        Effects of Pellet Moisture Content on the Physical Properties of Vacuum-puffed Yukwa

        The effects of pellet moisture content on physical properties (expansion ratio, density and breaking strength) of vacuum-puffed Yukwa (non-oil puffed Yukwa) were investigated in this study. The Yukwa was made from the waxy rice steeped at 25 and 30℃ for 3, 5 and 10 days with pellet drying times (6, 8 and 10.5 hr), respectively. As the drying time increased from 6 to 10.5 hr at 50oC, the highest value of pellet moisture content (29.4%) was found in the samples made from the steeped waxy rice at 25℃ for 5 days after 6 hr drying, while the lowest value (16.3%) was found at 25℃ for 3 days after 10.5 hr drying. Both redness and yellowness values of vacuum-puffed Yukwa increased as the drying time increased. The expansion ratio of Yukwa was greatly affected by drying time, ranging from 2.07 (26.8% pellet moisture content) to 7.01 (24.0% pellet moisture content). From the data, it was concluded that the pellet moisture content had a significant influence on the physical characteristics of vacuumpuffed Yukwa. With vacuum puffing condition of 3 min heating and 2 min puffing, the pellets with about 25% moisture content showed higher expansion ratio, and lower density and breaking strength.

      • A Single Chord Localization Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

        This paper presents a novel range-free single chord localization algorithm with low energy consumption and high accuracy for wireless sensor networks. A mobile anchor node and a mobile reference node are employed to periodically broadcast beacon messages and reference messages, respectively. Each sensor node is equipped with a received signal strength indicator for comparing the signal strength. By using the edge function and the result of comparing signal strength, each sensor node only needs one chord on the communication circle for localization. Compared with previous approaches that require multiple chords, less beacon messages are required by the sensor nodes. In the proposed algorithm, the localization error mainly depends on the move distance interval. However, for the other approaches, large localization errors can be observed according to the angle between chords which may descend the localization accuracy dramatically. Analysis results indicate that the proposed algorithm is superior to other approaches in energy consumption and localization accuracy.

      • Prognostic Significance of GSTP1, XRCC1 and XRCC3 Polymorphisms in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Patients

        Aim: Individual differences in chemosensitivity and clinical outcome in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treatment with platinum-based chemotherapy may be due to genetic factors. Our study aimed to investigate the prognostic role of GSTP1, XRCC1 and XRCC3 in NSCLC patients treated with chemotherapy. Methods: A total of 460 cases were consecutively selected from The Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University between Jan. 2003 to Nov. 2006, and all were followed-up until Nov. 2011. Genotyping of GSTP1 Ile105Val, XRCC1 Arg194Trp, XRCC1 Arg399Gln and XRCC3 Thr241Met was conducted by duplex polymerase-chain-reaction with confronting-two-pair primer methods. Results: Patients with GSTP Val/Val exhibited a shorter survival time, and had a 1.89 fold greater risk of death than did those with the IIe/IIe genotype. For XRCC1 Arg194Trp, the variant genotype Trp/Trp was significantly associated with a decreased risk of death from NSCLC when compared with the Arg/Arg. Individuals carrying XRCC1 399Gln/Gln genotype had a longer survival time, with a lowered risk of death from NSCLC. Conclusion: This study indicated that GSTP1 Ile105Val, XRCC1 Arg194Trp and XRCC1Arg399Gln genes have a role in modifying the effect of platinum-based chemotherapy for NSCLC patients in a Chinese population. Our findings provide information for therapeutic decisions for individualized therapy in NSCLC cases.

        Two new phenolic glycosides were isolated from the rhizomes of Curculigo orchioides Gaertn.. Based on comprehensive spectroscopic analyses including IR, MS, 1D- and 2D NMR (COSY, HSQC, and HMBC), their structures were elucidated as 3-hydroxyl-5-methyphenol-1-O-[${\beta}$-D-glucopyranosyl-($1{\rightarrow}3$)-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside (1) and 1',3'-dimethoxyl-4-hydroxyalangifolioside (2).
