        Treatment of Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumors in Nevoid Basal Cell Carcinoma Syndrome

        Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (NBCCS) is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait with variable conditions, including multiple basal cell carcinoma, numerous keratocystic odontogenic tumors (KOTs) in the jaws, ectopic calcification of the falx cerebri, bifid ribs, macrocephaly, kyphoscoliosis, cleft palate, frontal and temporal bossing, mild ocular hypertelorism, mild mandibular prognathism, vertebral fusion, and so on. A 16-year-old boy visited the Dong-A University Medical Center, requiring diagnosis and treatment of multiple cystic lesions. He presented with many conditions related to NBCCS, including multiple KOTs, bifid rib, cleft lip, frontal bossing, mild ocular hypertelorism, and mild mandibular prognathism. No characteristic cutaneous manifestations (nevoid basal cell carcinoma) were observed in this patient. We report on a case of multiple KOTs associated with NBCCS with a review of the literature.

      • 유방암 환자에서 bcl-2 단백 발현의 예후 인자로서의 의의

        Breast cancer in women pose a problem, and it can be difficult at times to evaluate the possibility of the cancer recurrence in node negative early cancer. The reliable prognostic markers are needed in breast cancer management to help clinicians identify the patient with the high risk of recurrence and arrive at more rational decisions for proper treatment. In order to investigate the prognostic significance of bcl-2, an immunohis-tochemical staining was performed in 35 tissue sections from paraffin blocks of primary breast cancer. Bcl-2 positivity was 43%. No relation could be observed between bcl-2 expression and known prognostic factors(tumor size, lymph node metastasis state, histologic grade, and nuclear grade), There was strong relation between bcl-2 expression and estrogen receptor positivity (ER) (P〈0.05). No relation is found between bcl-2 expression and c - erbB - 2 expression. These results suggest that bcl-2 expression is associated with a favorable prognostic factor(ER) but it is of no value as independent prognostic factor to the clinician in identifying the patients with high risk of recurrence.

      • 괄루근의 Glycosidase들에 대한 연구

        Several glycosidase activities, α-galactosidase, β-galactosidase and β-fucosidase and their isozymes were founded in Trichosantes kirilowii root, Trichosantes radix. The activities of α-glucosidase, β-glucosidase and α-fucosidase were also assayed but were not detected. Those glycosidases were isolated and partial purified glycosidases by acid-treated Sepharose-6B, anion exchange Mono-Q HPLC, DEAE-Sephacel, butyl-toyopearl hydrophobic column chromatographies. However, these glycosidases need to be purified more homogeneous and characterized.

      • 酢酸菌의 遊離, 固定化 菌體를 이용한 豆乳중의 n-hexanal의 脫臭

        These study was designed to deordorize the off flavor of n-hexanal in defatted soybean milk using the free cells or immobilized cells of acetic acid bacteria, such as Acetobacter aceti, IFO 3281, Acetobacter pasturianus, IFO 13751, and Acetobacter aceti, IFO 13752. When a small amount of acetic acid bacteria was added in defatted soybean milk and incubated at 30℃ for 30min. Deordorization of n-hexanal showed significantly decrease by three kinds of acetic acid bacteria. The optimal conditions of free and immobilized cells for deordorization of n-hexanal was at 50℃-60℃ and, pH 6, and there was no significance difference between free cells and immobilized cells for the deordorization of n-hexanal. Three kinds of acetic acid bacteria was not inhibited activites until 3% sodium chloride and 4.0% sucrose under the same sanie conditions. The immobilized cells system was indicated to maintain the deordorization of n-hexanal for 180 hr.

        향정신성 약물이 혈청 지질, 지단백 및 아포지단백 농도에 미치는 영향

        향정신성 약물의 장기투여는 지방대사에 미치는 영향으로 인해 체중증가 및 심혈관계 질환과 관련이 있다고 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 향정신성 약물이 심혈관계질환의 위험요소로 알려진 혈청 지질, 지단백 및 아포지단백에 미치는 영향을 조사하고자 하였다. 고려대학교 의과대학 부속 구로병원 정신과에서 치료받은 환자로 신체질환의 별력이 없으며 최소한 3개월 이상 항성신병약물이나 항우울제로 치료받지 않은 화자들을 대상으로 항정신병약물, TCA 및 SSRI를 투여하였다. 약물 투여전과 투여 2주, 4주, 8주, 그리고 12주에 결쳐서 혈청 총 콜레스테롤, HDL-C, LDL-C, apo A, apo B 그리고 Lp(a)를 각각 측정한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 항정신병약물 투여군에서 약물 투여전보다 총 콜레스테롤이 증가하는 경향성을 보이고 HDL-C가 감소하는 경향성을 보였으나 통계적으로 유의하지는 않았다. 2) TCA 투여군에서 총 콜레스테롤의 경우 기준치와 비교해서 4주, 8주, 12주에서 각각 유의한 증가를 보였으며, LDL-C은 8주째 유의한 증가를 보였다. 또한 apo A는 12주째에 유의한 증가를 보였고, apo B는 8주째에서 유의한 증가를 보였다. 3) SSRI 투여군에서 총 콜레스테롤 농도는 4주, 8주, 12주에서 각각 유의한 증가를 보였고, apo B는 8주째에 유의한 증가를 보였다. 4) 약물투여후 각대상군간의 시간경과에 따른 변화를 상호 비교하여보면, 총 콜레스테롤은 약물에 상관없이 시간경과에 따라 유의하게 변화하는 양상을 보였으나 세가지 약물간에 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 결론적으로 향정신성 약물은 혈청 지질, 지단백 및 아포지단백 농도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 보인다. 따라서 정신과 영역에서도 심혈관계 질환의 위험요소를 지닌 군은 이들 약물투여에 대한 주의와 관심이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. Objectives : Several studies suggest that psychotropic drugs may affect on lipid metabolism and body weight. And the differences of levels of serum lipids were observed in patients with several psychiatric disorders. Hence, in order to elucidate the effects of psychotropic drugs on serum lipid, lipopretein and apolipoprotein, the authors estimated the serum lipid profile in the psychopharmacological treatment. Methods : Thirty six patients with schizophrenia and 42 patients with depressive disorder of anxiety disorder were recruited from the inpatient psychiatric units and withdrawn from all psychotropic drugs at least for 3 months. The levels of serum total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), triglyceride, apolipoprotein A, apolipoprotein B, and lipoprotein(a) were measured before the treatment and after 2,4,8 and 12 weeks of the treatment. Results : No statistically significant change was found on all serum lipid profiles in the antipsychotics group. However, the changes on serum total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein(LDL-C), apolipoprotein A, and apolipoprotein B from the baseline to the following weeks have been observed in tricyclic antidepressants group. And the serum total cholesterol and apolipoprotein B have been observed to be changed from the baseline to the following weeks in the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors group. The changes on serum lipoprotein(a) were proved not to be statistically significant during all the psychotropic drugs treatment. Conclusion : These results implicate that all psychotropic drugs might affect on the lipid metabolism, especially for tricyclic antidepressants. Therefore, this implication could be important in clinical situation because the changes on serum lipid profiles may be related to the cardiovascular disease especially in psychiatric patients with the cardiovascular risk factor.

      • 생쥐 鼻中隔 各種 粘膜上皮 및 粘膜下腺의 分布樣狀과 그 表面積에 관한 硏究

        In order to set the distribution pattern and surface area of the mucosal epithelium and submucosal gland in the mice nasal septum. 3-month-old healthy 6 mice weighing 25gm approximately have been contributed for this research. For the mapping of the each nasal epithelium and submucosal gland in the submicroscopic level, the routine paraffin block of the mice nasal septum were cut as the 10㎛ thick at 110㎛ intervals. Consecutive 2 slides were stained with H-E and PAS and reconstructed in form of maps representing the structure in a sagittal plane. The results obtained from this research were summarized as follows. 1. The unilateral nasal surface epithelial area of the mice nasal cavity was 31.23㎟ 2. The areas of the stratified squamous epithelium, respiratory epithelium and olfactory epithelium which compose the unilateral nasal epithelium were 4.47㎟(14.3%), 12.7㎟(40.8%), and 14.02㎟(44.9%), respectively. 3. Submucosal glands in the mice nasal septum were divided into the PAS-positive, PAS-negative and Bowman's glands by the PAS staining. 4. The surface area of the PAS-positive glands in the nasal unilateral septum was 5.23㎟ which is located in the central area of the respiratory portion. 5. The surface area of the PAS-negative glands in the nasal unilateral septum was 5.05㎟ which is located above and below the PAS-positive gland. 6. The surface area of the Bowman's glands was 12.1 ㎟ which was located in the olfactory region. 7. In the vestibular region., 3 ducts of PAS-negative glands of the respiratory region are found, and below the nasal septum there is the infraseptal gland(PAS-negative).

      • 대두단백질 가수분해물의 특성

        The present study was conducted to elucidate some characteristics of soy protein hydrolysates. The soy protein was obtained from defatted soy power by the treatment of n-hexan. The hydrolysates of soy protein were prepared from hydrolysis by bromelian and pepsin with the two kinds of samples of precooking for 30 min in steam oven and noncooking, and fractionated through Bio-gel P-4 column chromatography. Fractions of hydrolysates separated on the Bio-gel column chromatography were carried out to SDS-PAG electrophoresis, resulting to show some different bends from 66kD to 14.2kD of molecular weight. In addition, the fractions showed different activities of superoxide dismutase. From these results, it was found that the hydrolysates could be available to use in a lot of food industrial fields as new functional food materials because the hydrolysates had different characteristics in electrophoresis and could increase the activity of superoxide dismutase.

      • 단섬유 강화고무의 희석효과에 관한 연구

        The dilution effect of short-fiber reinforced rubber has been investigated as functions of matrix, carbon black content, fiber aspect ratio, interphase condition and fiber end shape. To reduce the dilution effect, it is necessary to use the non-SIC matrix, proper carbon black content, fiber aspect ratio of 265 and hardness controled interphase. Also, we believed that it is possible to prevent the dilution effect for the case of reinforced rubber with a fiber aspect ratio around 265, high diameter ratio and hardness controlled interphase.

      • 버스정보시스템(BIS)을 위한 모바일 환경의 시각화 기법 연구

        In this paper we describe a visualization method for Bus Information System(BIS) on Mobile Environment. A BIS is a key service for Intelligent Transport System(ITS) on public transportation area. We present a client-server based visualization technique for bus route information over Internet Protocol and user-oriented regional information service with a voice and animation. We also describe the design and implementation of this kind of schematic map generation system with icon and label.
