        On the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of Jensen's equation

        J. Wang [21] proposed a problem: whether the Hyers-Ulam- Rassias stability of Jensen’'s equation for the case p, q, r, s ∈(β,1/β)\{1} holds or not under the assumption that G and E are β-homogeneous F-space (0<β<1). The main purpose of this paper is to give an answer to Wang’'s problem. Furthermore, we proved that the stability property of Jensen’'s equation is not true as long as p or q is equal to β,1/β, or ¯β_(2)/β_(1) (0<β_(1),β_(2)≤1). J.         J. The main purpose of this paper is to give an answer to Wang's problem. Furthermore, we proved that the stability property of Jensen's equation is not true as long as p or q is equal to $\beta$, $\frac{1}{\beta}$, or $\frac{\beta_2}{\beta_1}$ (0 < $\beta_1,\beta_2\leq$ 1).

        Blind Color Image Watermarking Based on DWT and LU Decomposition

        In watermarking schemes, the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is broadly used because its frequency component separation is very useful. Moreover, LU decomposition has little influence on the visual quality of the watermark. Hence, in this paper, a novel blind watermark algorithm is presented based on LU transform and DWT for the copyright protection of digital images. In this algorithm, the color host image is first performed with DWT. Then, the horizontal and vertical diagonal high frequency components are extracted from the wavelet domain, and the sub-images are divided into 4×4 non-overlapping image blocks. Next, each sub-block is performed with LU decomposition. Finally, the color image watermark is transformed by Arnold permutation, and then it is inserted into the upper triangular matrix. The experimental results imply that this algorithm has good features of invisibility and it is robust against different attacks to a certain degree, such as contrast adjustment, JPEG compression, salt and pepper noise, cropping, and Gaussian noise.

        Effects of dietary supplementation with Pediococcus acidilactici ZPA017 on reproductive performance, fecal microbial flora and serum indices in sows during late gestation and lactation

        Objective: This study was conducted to determine the effects of dietary supplementation with Pediococcus acidilactici (P. acidilactici) ZPA017 as a probiotic on reproductive performance, fecal microbial flora and serum indices in sows during late gestation and lactation. Methods: A total of 94 sows (Large White×Yorkshire, average 4.50 parities) were randomly allotted to two dietary treatments: control diet and the diet supplemented with P. acidilactici ZPA017 (2.40×10<sup>9</sup> colony-forming unit/kg of diets). The study started at d 90 of gestation and conducted until d 28 of lactation. Results: Compared to sows fed the control diet, supplementation of P. acidilactici ZPA017 increased the number of weaning piglets, weaning weight of litter and piglets, survival rate of piglets at weaning (p<0.05), and decreased diarrhea rate of piglets in lactation (p<0.05). Dietary P. acidilactici ZPA017 increased fecal Lactobacillus populations (p = 0.030) and reduced fecal Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus populations (p<0.05) of sows at weaning. Moreover, the supplementation of P. acidilactici ZPA017 increased serum concentrations of immunoglobulin G, immunoglobulin A and total protein (p<0.05), while decreased serum haptoglobin concentration and alanine aminotransferase activity (p<0.05) of sows at weaning. Conclusion: Administration of P. acidilactici ZPA017 in diets during late gestation and lactation had positive effects on the reproductive performance, intestinal microflora balance and immunity of sows.

      • Anisotropic Lattice Thermal Conductivity and Suppressed Acoustic Phonons in MOF-74 from First Principles

        <P>The thermal transport properties of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) developed for molecular storage and catalytic separations play an important role in adsorption or catalysis processes but are rarely reported. We calculate the anisotropic thermal conductivities (κ) of water-stable Zn-MOF-74 with the Boltzmann transport equation and the density-functional-based tight-binding (DFTB) method, which allows for a sufficiently large number of atoms in the simulations without much compromise on accuracy. We find an anisotropic κ of 0.44 and 0.68 W/m·K at 300 K, across and along the pore directions, with acoustic contributions of 8% and 30%, respectively. These unusually low acoustic contributions are explained by the rattling-like behavior of phonons with large vibrational amplitude, low group velocity, and large scattering rate, which are caused by the unique 1-D tubing bundle structure. On the other hand, the cylindrical pores enable larger phonon speed and higher directional structural rigidity along the pore direction, leading to a higher κ.         Energy-saving Strategy Based on an Immunization Algorithm for Network Traffic

        The rapid development of both communication traffic and increasing optical network sizes has increased energy consumption. Traditional algorithms and strategies don`t apply to controlling the expanded network. Immunization algorithms originated from the complex system theory are feasible for large-scale systems based on a scale-free network model. This paper proposes the immunization strategy for complex systems which includes random and targeted immunizations to solve energy consumption issues and uses traffic to judge the energy savings from the node immunization. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. Furthermore, this paper provides a possibility for saving energy with optical transmission networks.

        Trichromatic Dyeing of Polyimide Fiber Using Its Inherent Color as a Yellow Component

        Polyimide (PI) fiber is one kind of high-performance fibers with outstanding thermal stability, mechanicalproperties, and chemical resistance, but it is difficult to be dyed due to its tightly packed macromolecules and lack offunctional groups for dyeing. Especially, the inherent yellow shade of PI fiber limits the color gamut that can be matched bytrichromatic dyeing. In this study, it is proposed to investigate the possibility to dye PI fibers into a black shade with dispersedyes and basic dyes with the assistance of swelling agents. The dyeing experiments showed that, among the proposedswelling agents, N-methyformanilide (MFA) was the preferred candidate for enhancing the dyeing ability of PI fibers. Usingthe inherent yellow color of PI fiber as a yellow component in trichromatic dyeing it could be dyed into a black shade withgood colorfastness to washing, rubbing, and dry-heating. In spite of causing a slight decrease in tensile strength the dyeingwould not impair the thermal stability of PI fibers.

        Detecting Copy-move Forgeries in Images Based on DCT and Main Transfer Vectors

        With the growth of the Internet and the extensive applications of image editing software, it has become easier to manipulate digital images without leaving obvious traces. Copy-move is one of the most common techniques for image forgery. Image blind forensics is an effective technique for detecting tampered images. This paper proposes an improved copy-move forgery detection method based on the discrete cosine transform (DCT). The quantized DCT coefficients, which are feature representations of image blocks, are truncated using a truncation factor to reduce the feature dimensions. A method for judging whether two image blocks are similar is proposed to improve the accuracy of similarity judgments. The main transfer vectors whose frequencies exceed a threshold are found to locate the copied and pasted regions in forged images. Several experiments are conducted to test the practicability of the proposed algorithm using images from copy-move databases and to evaluate its robustness against post-processing methods such as additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), Gaussian blurring, and JPEG compression. The results of experiments show that the proposed scheme effectively detects both copied region and pasted region of forged images and that it is robust to the post-processing methods mentioned above.

      • H<sub>2</sub>O Adsorption/Desorption in MOF-74: <i>Ab Initio</i> Molecular Dynamics and Experiments

        <P>Using density functional theory based molecular dynamics with the tight-binding approximation and experimental characterization, the H<SUB>2</SUB>O vapor adsorption/desorption processes in Zn-MOF-74 and the corresponding influence on the lattice dynamics were investigated. It was found that the Zn sites are preferred for H<SUB>2</SUB>O adsorption, and they even allow for the adsorption of multiple H<SUB>2</SUB>O molecules on the same site, making it possible to form stable H<SUB>2</SUB>O cluster at low temperatures. The adsorption heats of different adsorption processes were predicted, and the possibility of H<SUB>2</SUB>O cluster formation under vapor exposure at low and room temperatures was explored. The first adsorbed H<SUB>2</SUB>O can only be dissociated at elevated temperatures, therefore reducing the cyclic uptake near the room temperature. The vibrational spectra of the lattice and adsorbed H<SUB>2</SUB>O were also calculated using molecular dynamics simulation to illuminate the variation of lattice dynamics during the adsorption. The framework was found to be stable after water vapor exposure near room temperature but may start to collapse at around 570 K. X-ray diffraction and H<SUB>2</SUB>O adsorption isotherm measurements have been conducted to verify the theoretical predictions, and good agreements are found.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jpccck/2015/jpccck.2015.119.issue-23/acs.jpcc.5b02069/production/images/medium/jp-2015-02069m_0008.gif'></P>
