Complications and local relapse after intraoperative low-voltage X-ray radiotherapy in breast cancer

Ana Alicia Tejera Hernández,Víctor Manuel Vega Benítez,Juan Carlos Rocca Cardenas,Neith Ortega Pérez,Nieves Rodriguez Ibarria,Juan Carlos Díaz Chico,Juan José García-Granados Alayón,Pedro Pérez Correa 대한외과학회 2020 Annals of Surgical Treatment and Research(ASRT) Vol.98 No.6

Purpose: To study those factors that influence the occurrence of surgical complications and local relapse in patients intervened for breast cancer and receiving intraoperative radiotherapy. Methods: Observational study on patients intervened for breast cancer with conservative surgery and intraoperative radiotherapy with low-voltage X-ray energy source (INTRABEAM), from 2015 to 2017 with 24 months minimum followup. Variables possibly associated to the occurrence of postoperative complications were analyzed with the Student t-test and the Fisher exact test; P < 0.05 considered significant. Subsequently, the construction of multiple multivariate analysis models began, thus building a logistic regression analysis using the IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 23 software. Local relapse was described. Results: The study included 102 patients, mean age of 61.2 years; mean global size of tumor, 12.2 mm. Complications occurred in 29.4%. Fibrosis was the most frequently observed complication, followed by postoperative seroma. Using a 45 mm or larger applicator were significantly associated with the occurrence of complications. Tumor size 2 cm or larger and reintervention showed borderline significant association. Only one case of local relapse was observed. Conclusion: Certain factors may increase the risk of complication after the use of intraoperative radiotherapy. Using external complementary radiotherapy does not seem to increase the rate of complications. Select patients and the involvement of a multidisciplinary team are essential for achieving good results

Differences Between Winning and Losing Teams in Youth Basketball Games (14-16 Years Old)

        ( Ortega E. ),( Cardenas D. ),( Sainz De Baranda P. ),( Palao J. M. ) 한국스포츠정책과학원(구 한국스포츠개발원) 2006 International Journal of Applied Sports Sciences Vol.18 No.2

Match analysis is common in performance sport to guide training and competition. However, it is not as common at the youth level. Most studies about match analysis have studied the variables of technique and tactics in relation to final actions of a team`s ball possession. However, a few studies have analyzed participation variables of technique and tactics. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in final and participatory actions of technique and tactics in relation to winning and losing teams, ball possession, and type of attack phase in youth basketball games. The sample consisted of 184 male players from 16 teams with an average age of 15.6 ± 0.2 years. The twenty-four games were analyzed from the men`s under-16 finals of the Championship of Andalusia (Spain). The variables studied were: game result (win or loss), variables related to type of ball possession, and variables related to pattern of play. Two groups of three observers were utilized (one group observed terminal events of each possession and the other observed possession time and pattern of play). The minimum inter-observer correlation was 0.94. The results found significant differences between winning and losing teams in the following variables: winning teams had higher values than losing teams in the following variables: 2-point field goals made, free throws made, dribbling opposed, time of movement, dribble time, use of screens, fast breaks, attack phases from 1-5 seconds, attack phases in which 2 players participated, and attack phases in which 5 players participated. The results showed that the winning teams have patterns of play that use less dribbling, in general, and less dribbling with displacement, in particular; and they used fast attack phases (1-5 s) in which two players participate. Winning patterns of play were those that used either fast breaks or a long attack phase in which all players participated.

Gas phase dehydration of 3-hydroxybutanone on orthophosphate catalysts for bio-based production of butenone for a sustainable industrial route to vitamin A

        M. Huchede,C. Lorentz,L. Cardenas,D. Morvan,V. Bellière-Baca,J.M.M. Millet 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.88 No.-

We report on the catalytic dehydration of 3-hydroxybutanone to butenone (but-3-en-2-one or methylvinyl ketone), which could become a key step in a new bio-based process for the production of vitamin A. The gas-phase dehydration reaction has been studied with various trivalent orthophosphates underatmospheric pressure, at temperatures ranging between 250 and 350 C. Although FePO4, CePO4, YPO4 and BPO4 are found to be either poorly active, or poorly selective tobutanone, the other rare-earth phosphates tested in this study allowed higher butanone yields to beobtained than has been previously reported. We show that the catalytic properties of these compoundsdepend on the nature of the rare-earth element. The most promising results are obtained with LaPO4,which is characterized by a 93% selectivity to butenone at 92% conversion. The catalytic activity andselectivity of the most efficient catalysts are discussed in terms of their surface acidity and basicity.
