Recently several notable Korean companies and organizations have experienced security breaches. Korea is the most “connected” country in the world and as such is highly susceptible to cyber attacks. Measuring the overall financial impact of security breaches on companies has been a challenge primarily because many attacks are not reported. In addition, much of the financial impact is thought to be indirect such as loss of potential rents due to loss of customers’ trust, reduced brand loyalty, and legal actions. The goal of this study is to examine the impact of security breach announcements on companies in South Korea employing an event study methodology. The results show that Korean firms experience short-term and long-term negative abnormal returns after an announcement of a security breach. While ecommerce firms or small firms suffer from the security breach, traditional firms and Chaebols do not experience negative abnormal returns. This study contributes to comparison between the reactions of other markets and Korean market to the public announcement of a security breach.

IS projects produce intangible outcomes and are conceived as knowledge-intensive work requiring diverse expertise. Research has shown that knowledge-sharing is a predictor of project success in an IS project. In this study, we empirically test the relationships between individual cultural values, fear of social exclusion, innovative team climate, and knowledge sharing within an IS protect team. The results provide evidence that the intention of “rational” team members could be negatively affected by fear and power distance. conversely collectivism and innovative team climate increase the intention to share knowledge. This study contributes to theory by exploring fear and cultural values of a team member as predictors to knowledge sharing. Project managers of teams composed of diverse members can understand and manage the potential effects of various cultural characteristics and their emotions.

Companies` interest in Green has increased in the adoption and utilization of information technology. Especially, the Korean government is actively promoting the implementation of Green IT. Given that Korea is considered the most connected country in the world, its IT initiatives (including Green IT) are often monitored and emulated by other countries. Since Green IT is a relatively new initiative and its financial impact on adopting firms is unclear, firms might be required to comply with the Korean government`s policies and regulations without fully understanding the economic risks and benefits. This paper explores the relationships between investments in Green IT and market reaction by using an event study methodology. We select seven events and classify them according to the type of Green IT implementation. Our results show that the announcement of Green IT initiatives positively influences the market value of the corresponding company. Given the results of this exploratory research, we provide discussion points which are worth further study.

This study aims to explore the influence of psychological empowerment(PE), the level of a user’s relative position and awareness of audit on information security policy(ISP) compliance intention and the moderating role of PE. We test the proposed structural model with research hypotheses using non-linear partial least square test tool, WarpPLS 5.0. The results are summarized as follows. 1) Psychological empowerment positively affects intention to comply with ISP; 2) The level of a user’s relative position negatively affects intention to comply with ISP; 3) Awareness of audit positively affects compliance with information security policy intention; 4) PE has a moderating effect on the links between position and awareness of audit and between position and compliance intention.
