Virtualizing the 'Korean Wave' : transnationalizing fandom, governance and resistance in Daejangguem
Vol.- No.-
Virtualizing the ‘Korean Wave’

Cyberfandom of soap operas has been an emerging (transnational) cultural practice, yet little has been researched into it. This paper examines how fans use cyberspace as fan space: for information, reflection, fantasizing, remembering, and criticizing. It also demonstrates how different levels and aspects of hierarchies operates in these ‘virtual’ fan communities, contrary to the commonly held conceptions of equality and democracy that the cyberspace prescribes. By using the case of 〈Daejanggeum〉, the paper argues how avid netizens exert strict governmental structures to regulate fan behaviour on the web. On the other hand, it examines how politics are manifest across cultural borders in the seemingly ‘borderless’ cyberspace.
Family-centered kindergarten social work services in Hong Kong: A pilot project
Yuk King Lau,Wai Ming Ho 한국사회복지학회 2018 Asian Social Work and Policy Review Vol.12 No.2
Social work services at schools in Hong Kong will begin a new chapter in kindergartens in 2018–2019 school year. Early childhood professionals have long considered family-centered service delivery best practice. This paper reports a pioneer project on a family-centered approach in kindergarten social work services in Hong Kong. The project was illustrated according to the following family-centered principles: (a) The family as the unit of attention, (b) Linking families with community resources, (c) Flexible and individualized service provision, and (d) Creating partnerships and supportive relationships. The value and contributions of family-centered social work services in kindergartens and implications for social work training in Hong Kong are discussed.

Since Taiwan is an endemic area for tuberculosis (TB), differential diagnosis between the intestinal TB and Crohn`s disease is an important issue. The steering committee of Taiwan Society of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (TSIBD) has arranged a seminar accordingly on May 24th, 2014 and the different point of views by gastroenterologist, radiologist, pathologist and infectious dis-ease specialist were suggested to help the proper diagnosis and management of these two diseases. Purpose: This study aimed to establish the translation adequacy and examine the psychometric properties of FaceMask Use Scale (FMUS). Methods: This methodological study employed a cross-sectional design with repeatedmeasures. Phase 1 examined the equivalence and relevance of English and Chinese versions of FMUS. Phase2 examined the internal consistency, stability and construct validity. Different sample batches (213 universitystudents and 971 general public) were used appropriately for psychometric testing. The 2-phase data were collectedbetween January and April 2017. Results: In Phase 1, the semantic equivalence and relevance (item- and scale-levelcontent-validity-index=100%) was satisfactory. Furthermore, from 133 paired test-retest responses, the quadraticweighted kappa (.53~.73, p<.001) and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC=.81) between the English andChinese version of FMUS were satisfactory. In Phase 2, FMUS demonstrated satisfactory internal consistency(Cronbach’s ⍺=.80~.81; corrected item-total correlation coefficients=.46~.67) and two-week test-retest stability(ICC=.84). The known-groups method (t=3.08, p<.001), exploratory (71.10% of total variance in two-factor model)and confirmatory factory analysis (x2/df=4.02, Root Mean Square Residual=.03, Root Mean Square Error ofApproximation=.06, Goodness of Fit Index=.99, Comparative Fit Index=.99) were all satisfactory for establishingthe construct validity. Conclusion: The FMUS has an equivalence Chinese and English versions, satisfactoryreliability and validity for measuring the practice of face mask use. This poses clinical and research implications forthose community health nurses who works on respiratory protection. Further research should be conducted on the‘negligent practice’ of FMU.

This pictorial review provides the principles of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support and associated CT imaging features with emphasis on the hemodynamic changes and possible imaging pitfalls encountered. It is important that radiologists in ECMO centers apply well-designed imaging protocols and familiarize themselves with post-contrast CT imaging findings in patients on ECMO.
