      • 개에서 발생한 부신피질기능항진증의 수술적 치료와 합병증

        A 11-year-old, female, poodle dog was admitted with history of polyuria/polydipsia, pruritis and abdominal distension, Pituirary-dependant hyperadrenocorticism was diagnosed by clinical sings, physical examination, laboratory examination (complete blood count, serum chemistry, urinalysis, ACTH stimulation test) and diagnostic imaging (radiography, ultrasonography, CT and MRI). The dog was received right adrenalectomy but died 2 days after surgery by sudden cardiac, respiratory, arrest. Suggestive casuse of the death is pulmonary thromboembolism.

        Trichloroethyene 처리한 흰쥐의 이물질 대사효소의 활성도에 관한 연구

        Trichloroethylene(TRI) is one of the most widely used organic solvent in many industries. It is used a degreasing agent, extract and dillution solvents. TRI is metabolized by liver microsomal cytochrome P450 to reactive intermediates, which are considered responsible for its hepatotoxicity. Cytochrome P450 is a key enzyme in the first step of TRI metabolism resulting in chloral hydrate(CH) formation, which is a rate-limiting step in TRI metalbolism. This study was performed to find change of hepatic cytochrome P$%) levels and of electron transport system for P-450 dependent reaction. Injections of TRI were done to the male Sprague Dawley rats(mean body wights, 170±10g) in corn the dosage of 150,300,600 ㎎/㎏ for 2 days. The results of experiments are following: 1. The contents of microsomal protein, cytochrome P450 and b5 are tended to be decreased with increasing amount of TRI, but not signifcantlly(p>0.05). 2. The activity of NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase is slowly decreased by increasing amount of TRI, but not significantlly(p>0.05). On the other hand, the activity of NADH-b5 reductase is increased with increasing amount of TRI(p<0.05). 3. The activity of 7-ethoxyresolufin O-deethylase did not show any critical changes(P>0.05). This result suggests that the inductive pattern of TRI may not be related to P 450IA1 and P450IIB.

      • 대전시 일부 지하상가 공기중 포름알데히드 농도 및 종사자들의 자각증상에 관한 연구

        This study was performed to get the fundamental data establishing environmental formaldehyde threshold limit as well as to contribute the health promotion of merchants and customers in two underground shopping-centers in Taejon from Dec. 1997 to Jan. 1998. Formaldehyde concentration and three climate factors-air current, humidity, and temperature-were measured at exit., hallway and inside shops in underground environment, and questionnaire about 15 subjective symptoms among 120 merchants in the inside shops were also surveyed by means of the questionnaire for screening workers exposed formaldehyde in Korea. The results were as follows ; 1. The average formaldehyde concentration in whole area was 0.0299 ppm ; Exit, Hallway and Inside shop were 0.0205 ppm, 0.0325 ppm and 0.0366 ppm, respectively(p<0.000). 2. According to simple regresson analysis, air current(r=-0.2517, p<0.05) and temperature(r=0. 5871, p<0.001) were significantly related to formaldehyde concentration. 3. More than 80% of the merchants have 5 subjective symptoms such as easy fatigahility, headache, throat discomfort, conjunctival injection, and nasal congestion. With all above the results, it can be suggested that environmental formaldehyde threshold limit at underground in Korea be reestablished, regarding related climate factor-air current and temperature-, and the questionnaire for screening subjective symptoms should be developed again for evaluating the evironmental effect of formaldehyde.

        국내 카드뮴 취급 사업장의 카드뮴 폭로 실태 평가

        Twenty-four factories registered at the Ministry of Labor as factories using or producing cadmium in 1991 were investigated to know the present state of occupational exposure to cadmium in 1992. Nine factories among 24 stopped using or changed to other substances and 1 factory didn't produce any more, but delivered it to other factories through imports. Therefore, only 14 factories were producing or using cadmium. But, alloying materials were supplied to about 20 and more factories, however, they couldn't be investigated because of limited information. Three factories had less than 50 workers were 3,6 had 50-300 and 5 had more than 300. About 167 workers were exposed to cadmium. According to the classification by process, there were 4 alloy processes, 2 refinary, 2 elctroplating, 2 dry cell making, 1 industrial battery making, 1 duplicator drum making, 1 recycling of battery and 1 copper refinary. 8 factories used metal cadmium, 3 cadmium oxide, 2 cadmium sulfide, and 1 cadmium hyroxide. One factory was importing cadmium stearates only and supplying them to the PVC making factories. The amount of metal cadmium producing in 2 refinary factories was about 50-65 ton per month. The other cadmium compounds were imported. According to exposure level of cadmium air of the 10 factories examined, each factory could be divided into high, moderate and low exposure groups. 1 battery recycling factory and 3 alloy factories were in the high exposure group and their mean air concentrations were 0.06679, 0.05481, 0.02492, and 0.003㎎/㎥, respectively. Refinary and industrial battery making factories were in the middle exposure group and their mean air concentrations were 0.00773 and 0.00613 ㎎/㎥, respectively. Finally, low exposure group were copper smelting, dry cell case making, duplicator drum making and electroplating factory and their mean air concentrations were 0.00096, 0.00071, 0.00057 and 0.00054 ㎎/㎥ respectively.

        우리나라 카드뮴 폭로 근로자들의 혈중, 요중 카드뮴과 누적폭로 추정량에 따른 신장장해 평가

        88 workers exposed to cadmium were examined at the 12 factories using or producing cadmium in order to know the present state of cadmium exposure and renal dysfunction in 1992. Cadmium in blood and in urine were measured and compared by the 3 exposure level of cadmium in air. Cadmium in blood of low, moderate and high exposure group were 2.5, 3.8 and 7.6 ㎍/L, respectively. Cadmium in urine were 1.8(1.3), 3.8(2.6) and 7.9 ㎍/L(6.1 ㎍/g creatinine), respectively. However, there was no relationship between urinary cadmium and β₂-microglobulin. Cumulative exposure estimate(CEE) was calculated by multiplying the mean ambient cadmium level of the factory and working duration. CEE has a high correlation with cadmium in blood and urine, but no relation to β₂-microglobulin. Because working durations were relatively shorter than European workers', the highest CEE was just 300 ㎍·year/m³, which was not enough to induce renal tubular dysfunction. This study, however, suggested the possibility that renal tubular dysfunction caused by cadmium could be happened in Korea in the near future.

      • 가와사끼병에서 면역글로불린 사용 후 ASO 수치의 변동에 관한 고찰

        Objective : Since Kawasaki disease was first described in 1967, the cause and prognostic factors have not been known despite many researches and efforts. The introduction of high-dose intravenous gamma-globulin (IVGG) was an epoch and IVGG is now a standard therapy. But the mode of action of IVGG in reducing inflammatory response is not clearly understood. Understanding of the mechanism should supply the clues that indicate the cause, prognosis, the better treatment of this disease. At present, the correlation of CRP, ESR and change of leukocyte numbers to Kawasaki diseases were known, but the correlation studies of ASO titers are rare. To discover this, we evaluated the interrelationship between the ASO titer and IVGG therapy. Methods and Materials : The subjects included 35 patients with Kawasaki disease who were treated by IVGG at department of pediatrics, Inje university, Busan Paik hospital from June, 2004 to December, 2005. Before and after IVGG administration, ASO titers were evaluated. Results: In the 32 among 35 patients, ASO titers checked before IVGG administration were increased prominently after IVGG therapy. Conclusion : Remarkably increased ASO titers after IVGG administration for the treatment of Kawasaki diseases were found. And changes of ASO titers seem to be due to immunoglobulin instead of streptococcal infection. Further studies will be necessary to clarify the pathogenic mechanisms of increased ASO titers.

        The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of a streching and weight training on bone mineral density(BMD), and to present basic data of an effective exercise program for the cure of osteoporosis. The subjects were 30 middle-aged women, who were divided into 10 in exercise group and 10 in non-exercise group, and then BMD of radius were measured. They were to perform the streching for muscle reinforce and weight traning For strong bones during 12 weeks. The conclusion of this study follows as below: Then, it was showed that BMD of radius in exercise group were significantly higher than thane in non-exercise group.

        Two numeral classifier constructions in Korean

        한국어에 있어서의 두 가지 수 분류어 구문(numeral classifier construction)의 특성을 알아 보는 것이 논문의 주목적이다. 먼저, 언어유형으로 볼 때 분류어 구문이 둘 이상의 어순적 순서로 나타나는 것은, 흔하지 않는 현상이라는 점이 지적되고 있다. 둘째, 이 두 가지 구문이 통시적으로 한 구문에서 다른 구문으로 변한다는 학자들의 주장이 한국어 데이터 상으로 증명된다. 셋째, 두 구문을 공시적으로 다루었다. 이 공시성에서는 2 가지의 특성 즉 두 구문의 문법 역할의 차이와 격확산(case spreading)에서의 차이점과 화용론적 인지적인 측면에서의 차이점을 다루고 있다. 넷째, 이러한 두 구문의 차이점을 염두에 두면서, 텍스트 분석을 하였다. 분석의 결과는 대략 다음과 같다. 숫자 정보가 새로운 정보일 때 "명사-분류어" 구문이 쓰이고, 중심명사 앞의 수식어와 함께 쓰일 때와 나열할 때 "명사-분류어"구문이 자주 쓰이고, 지시 받은 자의 "개인성"이 중요한가 아닌가에 따라, 중요할 때는 "분류어-명사" 구문이 많이 쓰이는 경향이 있었다.

        α상분율의 변화가 층상조직 TiAl 합금의 열적안정성에 미치는 영향

        The thermal stability of lamellar microstructure in TiAl-Mo PST crystals containing C or Si was investigated. In addition, the variation of α-phase volume fraction in Ti-Al-Mo-(C, Si) systems was also investigated at several temperatures. It was found that Ti-46Al-1.5Mo-O.2C and Ti-46Al-1.5Mo-1.0Si alloys were very stable during heat treatments at various heating rates and temperatures. Moreover, the, α-phase volume fraction of Ti-46A1-1.5Mo-0.2C and Ti-46A1-1.5Mo-1.OSi alloys (stable composition) was less changed than those of Ti-47Al and Ti-46Al-1.5Mo alloys (unstable composition). From these results, the instability of the latter alloys was thought to be resulted from relatively higher variation of α-phase volume fraction during heating. Therefore, it could be suggested that the variation of α-phase volume fraction is an important factor that control the thermal stability of lamellar microstructure.
