        두개골의 두께: 일차연구

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the mean cranial bone thickness at various points of the bone and to serve as a clinical guide for choosing a bone graft. Twelve bones were obtained from 6 Korean adult skulls for this study. The mean bone thickness at each point of the 17 points of the bone and at the corresponding points of the opposite bone was obtained in all skulls studied. The thinnest part of the parietal bone was 5.92mm. The thickest part of the parietal bone was 7.58mm. The mean bone thickness at each point of measurements on two opposite bones was compared using the paired Student's t-test. The mean thickness did not differ significantly. The thickness in the same bone varied widely depending on the points of measurement.

      • 기계시각을 이용한 강구 자동 검사장치

        Metal balls are commonly used in mechanical elements and systems including bearings. If there is a defect in a metal ball, it can cause a serious machine failure. By this reason every balls produced are required to be inspected, and the inspection is usually done by human eyes. However, the inspection by human eyes is always with the risk of mistakes, and a need to automate the inspection process is arisen. This paper describes a design of an automatic inspection system for detecting defects on ball surface. A machine vision system is used, and design process and techniques are described in detail. 강구는 베어링을 비롯한 기계 요소 및 장치에서 널리 사용되는 부품이다. 만약 강구에 결함이 있을 시, 이를 사용하는 기계에서 치명적인 결함이 초래될 수 있다. 따라서 제조된 강구에 대해서는 전량검사가 요구되고 있고, 검사과정은 사람의 육안에 의한 검사가 주를 이루고 있다. 그런데 사람에 의한 검사에는 항상 실수의 가능성이 있으므로, 이를 자동화하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 강구의 표면 결함을 자동적으로 검사할 수 있는 장치를 설계한다. 기계시각 장치가 사용되었고, 설계에 따른 구체적 절차와 기술들이 서술된다.

        미생물 성장 특성에 기초한 독립영양탈질의 화학양론식 연구

        It is necessary to supply external carbon source for enhancement of biological nitrogen removal from domestic wastewater with low influent C/N ratio. Sulfide was chosen as a cost effective electron donor and reaction stoichiometry for autotrophic denitrification was investigated by conducting bench-scale experiments in this study. Higher sulfur to nitrogen (S/N) ratio than the calculated value from theoretical reaction stoichiometry was required when the anoxic reactor was operated at open condition because dissolved oxygen introduced by surface aeration reacted with sulfide with ease. In addition, higher sulfate production and lower yield of microorganism could be observed under the same condition. It was possible to obtain reliable reaction stoichiometry for autotrophic denitrification by establishing pure anoxic condition. Linear relationship between bacterial growth and consumption of nitrate, sulfide, alkalinity, and sulfate production enabled to derive a relatively correct reaction stoichiometry for autotrophic denitrification when sulfide was used as an electron donor.

        이차구순열 결손의 치료

        Despite the current accomplishments with the repair of cleft lips, the surgical management of the nasal deformity remains a functional and aesthetic dilemma for patients, their families, and reconstructive surgeons. Recent improvements in the understanding and technical execution of te primary cleft lip repair have significantly reduced secondary sequelae and the consequent need for secondary surgical correction. But, secondary surgical corrections are necessary according to numerous factors. Such factors include the secondary surgical corrections are necessary according to numerous factors. Such factors include the severity of the initial deformity, the surgical plan, precision of execution of the primary repair, and success of the postoperative management. We preformed the secondary correction of cleft lip and palate in 11 patients via various methods. In conclusion, primary repair of cleft lip and palate patients is the most important to prevent the secondary deformities, and most of cleft lip and palate with secondary deformities must be treated with combined cheiloplasty and rhinoplasty.

      • K형 강관접합부의 편심접합에 관한 실험적 연구

        A finite element analysis and experimental study were performed to investigate the behavior and strength of a connection of tubular steel member considering slenderness ratio and eccentricity. Primary interest here are ultimate strength of connections having eccentricity. In comparison with the current design standard according to which the gravity axes of the main and branch pipes coincide with each other, the inner eccentric joint where the gravity axes of the branch pipes are shifted to the gusset plate side can reduce the gusset plate size. However, in the eccentric joint where the gravity axes do not coincide, the bending moment that acts on the main pipe due to eccentricity causes a problem. As a result, in cases where the slenderness ratio is 40 or less, the buckling strength of the inner eccentric joint was similar to that of a joint without eccentricity. Therefore the possibility of use of inner eccentricity connection to reduce the gusset plate size has been verified.

      • Benzoyl peroxide의 환경에서의 초기 위해성 평가

        Benzoyl peroxide is a High Production Volume Chemical, which is produced about 1,375 tons/year in Korea as of 2001 survey. The substance is mainly used as initiators in polymerization, catalysts in hte plastics industry, bleaching agents for flour nad medication for acne vulgaris. In this study, quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships(QSAR) are used for getting adequate information on the physical-chemical properties of this chemical. And hydrolysis in water, acute toxicity to aquatic and terrestrial organisms for benzoyl peroxide were studied. The physical-chemical properties of benzoyl peroxide were estimated as followed; vapor pressure=0.00929 pa, Log K_(ow)=3.43, Henry's Law constant=3.54×10^(-6) atm-m³/mole at 25℃, the half-life of photodegradation=3days and bioconcentration factor(BCF)=92. Hydrolysis half-life of benzoyl peroxide in water was 5.2hr at pH 7 at 25℃ and according to the structure of this substance hydrolysis product was expected to benzoic acid. Benzoyl peroxide has toxic effects on the aquatic organisms. 72 hr-ErC_(50)(growth rate) for algae was 0.44mg/L, 48hr-EC_(50) for daphnia was 0.07mg/L and the 96hr-LC_(50) of acute toxicity to fish was 0.24mg/L. Acute toxicity to terrestrial organisms(earth worm) of benzoyl peroxide was low(14 day-LC_(50)=>1,000mg/kg). Although benzoyl peroxide is high toxic to aquatic organisms, the substance is not bioaccumulated because of the rapid removal by hydrolysis (half life=5.2hr at pH 7 at 25℃) and biodegradation(8.% by BOD after 21days). The toxicity observed is assumed to be due to benzoyl peroxide rather than benzoic acid, which shows much lower toxicity to aquatic organisms. One can assume that effects occur before hydrolysis takes place. From the acute toxicity value of algae, daphnia and fish, an assessment factor of 100 was used to determine the predicted no effect concentration(PNEC). The PNEC was calculated to be 0.7㎍/L based on the 48hr-EC_(50) daphnia(0.07mg/L). The substance shows high acute toxicity to aquatic organisms and some information indicates wide-dispersive use of this substance. So this substance is a candidate for further work, even if it hydrolysis rapidly and has a low bioaccumulation potential. This could lead to local concern for the aquatic environment and therefore environmental exposure assessment is recommended.

        신경섬유종증 환자의 외과적 치험 2례

        Tumors arising from nerve tissue are uncommon in the oral maxillofacial regions. Neurofibroma, a benign neurogenic tumor, can occur as circumscribed solitary or multiple lesions. A solitary neurofibroma is seldom undergo sarcomatous transformation, but fibromatosis is common. Therfore, it is important that we observe the oral and radiographic changes to help minimize the tremendous potential of the disease for facial disfigurement and altered function. The turmors were exised and there are no evidence of recurrence. The patients are satisfied with function and esthetic aspects.

        Quantitative structural characterization of phosphatidylinositol phosphates from biological samples

        <P>The aspects of cellular metabolism controlled by phosphatidylinositol phosphates (PtdInsPs) have been broadly expanded, and these phospholipids have drawn tremendous attention as pleiotropic signaling molecules. PtdInsPs analysis using LC/MS/MS has remained challenging due to the strong hydrophilicity of these lipids. Multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) or a neutral loss scan has been performed to quantitatively measure PtdInsPs after chemical derivatization on the phosphate groups of inositol moieties. Only predefined PtdInsPs can be measured in MRM mode, and fatty acyl compositions of sn-1 and sn-2 positions of PtdInsPs cannot be obtained from a neutral loss scan. In our present study, we developed a simple LC/MS/MS method for structural identification of sn-1 and sn-2 fatty acids of PtdInsPs and their relative quantitation. Precursor ion scans of sn-1 monoacylglycerols (MAGs) of PtdInsPs provided structural information about the lipids, and ammonium adduction enhanced signal intensities of PtdInsPs. The relative amount of observed PtdInsPs in biological samples could be compared using chromatographic peak areas from the neutral loss scans. Using precursor ion scans of sn-1 MAG and neutral loss scans of headgroups, major PtdInsPs in cells and tissues were successfully identified with structural information of sn-1 and sn-2 fatty acids, and their relative amounts in different samples were compared.</P>
