        Influencing Factors on Intention to Vaccinate Against COVID-19 in College Students

        Purpose: This cross-sectional study aimed to identify factors affecting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination intention. Methods: For an anonymous online survey, recruitment notices were posted on an anonymous community by each university, and an online survey was conducted through online form from June to July 2021. COVID-19 knowledge and health-protective behavior were measured using a questionnaire based on previous literature and reflecting the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID-19 Response Guidelines. The psychological antecedents of vaccination were measured by 5C scale. Results: Two-hundred and ninety-four college students (women 67.3%) answered the survey; 179 (60.9%) reported that they would accept a COVID-19 vaccine. The mean scores for COVID-19 knowledge and health-protective behavior were 22.97±5.33 (out of 35) and 9.92±2.22 (out of 12), respectively. For the psychological antecedents of vaccination, the mean scores for confidence, collective responsibility, calculation, complacency, and constraints were 4.45 (±1.24), 5.61 (±1.09), 5.09 (±1.18), 2.42 (±1.11), and 2.37 (±1.19) out of 5 points, respectively. The confidence, calculation, and collective responsibility were associated with vaccination intention. Additionally, the top reason for those who were less prone to accept vaccination against COVID-19 was concern about vaccine safety. Conclusion: The higher the confidence in the vaccine and the higher the collective responsibility, the higher the vaccination intention. As it is a factor related to an individual’s perception of COVID-19 information, it is necessary to increase confidence in the vaccines through obtaining accurate information on the safety, effectiveness, and side effects of the COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination

        The deletion 22q13 syndrome (Phelan-McDermid syndrome) is a rare microdele- tion syndrome characterized by prominent neurobehavioral deficits including neonatal hypotonia, developmental delay, language delay, autism, and minor dysmorphic fea- tures. Due to nonspecific facial features and difficulties in detection in routine chro- mosome analysis, this chromosome deletion syndrome has gone under-diagnosed. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is required to confirm the presence of this deletion. Here we report the first case of 22q13 deletion syndrome in Korea. An 18-month-old girl was admitted to a pediatric clinic due to severe develop-mental delay and hypotonia from the neonatal period. She was diagnosed as 22q13 deletion syndrome through a chromosomal analysis and FISH using arylsulfatase A probe.

        Bidirectional Interactions between Green Tea (GT) Polyphenols and Human Gut Bacteria

        Green tea (GT) polyphenols undergo extensive metabolism within gastrointestinal tract (GIT), where their derivatives compounds potentially modulate the gut microbiome. This biotransformation process involves a cascade of exclusive gut microbial enzymes which chemically modify the GT polyphenols influencing both their bioactivity and bioavailability in host. Herein, we examined the in vitro interactions between 37 different human gut microbiota and the GT polyphenols. UHPLCLTQ-Orbitrap-MS/MS analysis of the culture broth extracts unravel that genera Adlercreutzia, Eggerthella and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum KACC11451 promoted C-ring opening reaction in GT catechins. In addition, L. plantarum also hydrolyzed catechin galloyl esters to produce gallic acid and pyrogallol, and also converted flavonoid glycosides to their aglycone derivatives. Biotransformation of GT polyphenols into derivative compounds enhanced their antioxidant bioactivities in culture broth extracts. Considering the effects of GT polyphenols on specific growth rates of gut bacteria, we noted that GT polyphenols and their derivate compounds inhibited most species in phylum Actinobacteria, Bacteroides, and Firmicutes except genus Lactobacillus. The present study delineates the likely mechanisms involved in the metabolism and bioavailability of GT polyphenols upon exposure to gut microbiota. Further, widening this workflow to understand the metabolism of various other dietary polyphenols can unravel their biotransformation mechanisms and associated functions in human GIT.

        행정중심복합도시 상업지역 보행자전용도로의 이용행태 문제점 분석 및 개선방향

        신도시 상업지역 활성화를 위해 보행자전용도로가 다수 도입되었으나, 이용행태에 많은 문제점이 있다. 행복도시는 국내 최대규모의 신도시로 다수의 보행자전용도로가 조성되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 행복도시의 상업지역을 대상으로 보행자전용도로의 물리적 환경에 따른 이용행태 분석을 통해 문제점을 밝히고, 개선 방향을 도출하는 것이다. 성격이 상이한 2개의 대상지를 선정하고, 현장조사와 행태지도작성법을 통하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 흡연행태가 가장 많이 발생하였으며, 보행자전용도로는 흡연 공간화되어 있다. 흡연 부스 등의 설치를 통하여 흡연행위를 특정 부분으로 유도할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 보행자를 위한 가로임에도 불구하고 차량의 주정차나 오토바이 통행이 잦았다. 진입부에서 차량, 오토바이의 진입을 억제하는 계획이 필요하다. 셋째, 중앙에 배치된 쓰레기 수거함은 미관을 해치고 악취가 발생한다. 측면 공간으로 이동시키거나 별도의 시설물을 통하여 관리할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 불법 시설물이나 적치된 물건들의 관리가 미흡하며, 보행자들의 흥미를 유발하는 가로 시설물이 부족하다. 시설물 유지관리를 개선하고, 조경물이나 이벤트 공간 등을 마련해야 한다. 다섯째, 낮에는 단순 통행이 주요 행태이며, 이용객 또한 매우 적었다. 다양한 시간대에 공간을 활용할 수 있는 계획이 필요하다. A number of pedestrian streets have been introduced to vitalize commercial areas in new towns, but there are many problems in their use behavior. A Multi-functional Administrative City (MAC) is the largest new city in Korea and has many pedestrian streets. The purpose of this study is to identify problems and derive improvement directions through analysis of user behavior according to the physical environment of pedestrian streets in commercial areas of the MAC. Two sites with different characteristics were selected and analyzed through field surveys and behavior mapping. First, smoking was the most frequent behavior, and pedestrian streets were designated as smoking spaces. It is necessary to limit smoking to a specific part of the street by installing a smoking booth. Second, despite being exclusively for pedestrians, there was frequent vehicle parking and motorcycle traffic. A plan is needed to curb the entry of vehicles and motorcycles. Third, a garbage collection box placed in the center spoiled the landscape and generated a bad smell. It is necessary to move it to the side of the street or manage it through a separate facility. Fourth, the management of facilities and stacked objects was insufficient, and street facilities that arouse the interest of pedestrians were insufficient. Facility maintenance should be improved, and landscaping or an event space should be prepared. Fifth, low traffic during the day was a main behavior, and there were few users. There is a need for a plan to utilize the space at various times.

        제품표면디자인을 위한 폐플라스틱 재료의 활용방법에 관한 연구

        산업사회의 발달과 물질 생산촉진으로 인해 경제성장이 이루어진 반면 환경문제는 날로 심각해지고 있다. 그로인해 산업 여러 분야에서는 환경적 문제의식을 가지고 기술개발이 진행되고 있으며 디자인분야에서도 이를 이해하고 각성하려는 움직임이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 환경문제의 주원인 중 폐플라스틱의 폐기에 관한 심각성을 인식하고 이를 중점으로 두어 연구를 진행하였으며 폐플라스틱 재료를 제품의 표면디자인에 활용할 수 있는 방법을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구범위로 방대한 폐기물의 종류 중 플라스틱 폐기물로 한정하였으며 이를 재활용하는 방법들 중 제품표면디자인에 활용할 수 있도록 물질재활용방법에 중점을 두어 연구를 진행하였다. 연구방법 및 내용으로 환경문제와 이로 인해 발생 되어진 그린디자인의 전반적인 경향을 문헌조사를 통해 정리하였고 그린디자인을 위한 디자이너의 역할에 대해 분석해 보았다. 그리고 전문가의 자문 및 문헌자료, 기존논문자료를 바탕으로 플라스틱 재료를 크게 세 가지로 나누고 재활용 Process에 대해 자세히 알아보았으며 기존의 폐플라스틱을 활용한 제품표면디자인 사례를 조사·분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 폐플라스틱의 활용방법에 대해 제시하였고 이에 따른 예상 디자인을 도출하였다. 본 연구의 결과로서 폐플라스틱 재료는 기존의 Mass Product 방식에만 의존하여 미학적으로 표현하기에는 한계가 있는 것으로 드러났다. 그러므로 플라스틱의 종류와 특성을 이해하고 각각 활용방법에 맞 춰 새로운 색상과 패턴, 질감 등의 심미적 효과를 재창출해야 할 것으로 판단된다. 이 결과를 토대로 디자인프로세서에 새로운 그린 미학적 개발을 적극적으로 도입하고 디자이너들의 인식 변화를 유도하려 한다. A development of industrial society and mass production`s acceleration is made the economic growth, while environmental issues are becoming more severe. As a result, industrial technology development is proceeding in several areas under environmental issues awareness and its understanding and awareness is growing in design field. In this study, focus on the issue of the severity of waste plastic discard and the purpose of this study is a find out of application method of the waste plastic materials can be utilized in product surface design. The scope of this study, plastic wastes among huge waste sort were limited to, and focus on the material recycle(M.R.) for product surface design. The method and content of this study, environmental issues and green design was summarized through literature survey, and was analyzed about the role of the designer for green design. And plastic material is based on expert advice, literature data and previously treatise data was divided into three main, and process for recycling were studied in detail, and product surface design of the cases were investigated and analyzed. Based on this study, was suggested about application method of waste plastic. The result of this study, mass product`s method depends only on waste plastic material is revealed that there are limit to aesthetically expression. Therefore, to understand the types and characteristics of plastics, and must recreate according to each application method the aesthetic effect of the new colors and patterns, textures etc. Based on this result, the new green aesthetic development should be actively introduced to design process and will induce to change of designer`s recognition.
