Objectives: Stress and other causes can infl uence blood pressure levels and may limit the usefulness of its measurement in the offi ce, but knowledge in this fi eld is limited. We aim to determine the impact on and blood pressure of the state of anxiety that HIV-infected patients experience when they are about to be informed of immunologic and virologic tests and other blood analysis results in clinical visits. Methods: In a cohort of HIV-infected patients, we measured blood pressure of every subject twice: at the beginning of visits just before we reported them lymphocyte CD4 cell count, HIV-viral load and other blood analysis results, and about ten minutes afterwards at the end of visits. We compared results of both determinations, and searched for factors associated with differences between both determinations, when present. Results: We included 152 patients, the median of age was 45 years (interquartile range: 39-50), 101 (66 %) were male, 24 (16 %) had been diagnosed of hypertension previously, 28 (18 %) had been diagnosed of diabetes, 25 (16 %) had been diagnosed of dyslipidemia, and 120 (79 %) were smokers; 142 (93 %) were taking antiretroviral medication. Table shows results at the beginning and at the end of visits (sBP and dBP = systolic and diastolic blood pressure, measured in mmHg). An association was found between lower sBP at the end of the visit compared to blood pressure at the beginning of the visit and the following variables: younger age (P = 0.018) and female gender (P = 0.008). Conclusion: sBP at the end of the visit is commonly lower than sBP at the beginning of the visit, especially in young women.

Objective: To find factors associated with increased homocysteine serum level in HIV-infected patients. Methods: Cross-sectional study, carried out as a supplementary task to the usual follow- up of HIV-infected patients. The possible association of increased homocysteine serum level with blood analyses results was assessed with a multiple linear regression analysis. Results: A total of 145 patients were included. Creatinine was higher than normal in 7 patients (5 %), prothrombin time was higher than normal in 36 patients (25 %), and a monoclonal gammopathy was detected in 2 patients (1 %). An association was found between high homocysteine serum level and the following variables: high creatinine (P < 0.001), low folic acid (P < 0.001), and low prothrombin time (P = 0.007). Conclusion: An associations was found between high homocysteine serum level and low prothrombin time.

The Asopinae genus Stilbotes Stål, 1871 from Philippines is reviewed taxonomically. A new species Stilbotes goulae sp. nov. is described based on female specimens. Stilbotes semperi Stål 1871 is redescribed in detail. A diagnosis, key and distributional records for the genus and the species are also provided.

Lava tubes in the Canary Islands have shown to have a great amount of endemic biodiversity belonging to a wide, and sometimes unexpected, range of taxa. In this paper, the first cave-dwelling species of a troglomorphic Dipsocoromorpha, Ceratocombus stysi sp. nov. is described making this finding the first named species of Dipsocoromorpha from the Canary Islands. Morphological information including diagnosis and genitalia description of the new species, together with biological and ecological notes are given.

The genus Paraholcostethus Belousova is reported from the Korean Peninsula for the first time with the description of a new species, Paraholcostethus irumiae sp. nov. The generic diagnosis of Paraholcostethus is slightly modified to accommodate the new species. Habitus, male and female internal and external genitalia are illustrated. A key to the species of the genus is also given.

After reconstructing the phylogenetic relationships among the closely related genera Carbula Stål, Eysarcoris Hahn, and Stagonomus Gorski (tribe Eysarcorini), using the mitochondrial genes: 16S rRNA and cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI), and incorporating morphological characters to contrast our data, we transfer the species Eysarcoris gibbosus Jakovlev and Eysarcoris venustissimus (Schrank) to the genus Stagonomus, and we propose to place the subgenus Dalleria Mulsant & Rey as a synonym under the nominal subgenus Stagonomus. Additionally, Stagonomus is redefined to include diagnostic characters of the male genitalia.

Owing to their predatory feeding habits, many members of the stink bug subfamily Asopinae have been used as biological agents for controlling insect pests. Herein a taxonomical review of Korean Asopinae species is presented. The habitus and a detailed genital morphology of each species is illustrated together with the first key to the Asopinae species present in Korea. We report Eocanthecona kyushuensis (Esaki & Ishihara, 1950) for the first time on the Korean Peninsula and the subtropical species Andrallus spinidens has been confirmed in the southern part of Korea, but Troilus luridus has not been found in the Republic of Korea. All this information is of extreme importance for the correct identification and understanding of the biology and distribution of Asopinae species. We also present a discussion of the potential usefulness and viability of the stink bugs as biological control agents in Korea.

The genus Placosternum Amyot & Serville (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) currently belongs to the tribe Pentatomini Leach with 13 described species. Species are medium to big size and are defined by having characteristic thoracic sternal structures and the pronotal lateral angles somewhat protruded and/or serrate. The genus follows a typical Indo-Malayan distribution limited by the Wallace line south-eastwards and extending to some regions of the eastern Palaearctic. The species in the genus can be considered somehow cryptic as morphologically they are similar and most of them have been classified as a single species. Additionally, as most of the species descriptions are extremely poor, after the revision of the type materials and material deposited in many of the worldwide institutions, we present the systematic knowledge on the genus.
