Trehalose is a non-reducing disaccharide that is hydrolyzed by trehalase to yield two glucose molecules. Trehalase is the first enzyme involved in the chitin biosynthesis pathway, and it plays a pivotal role in insect growth and molting. In this study, Nilaparvata lugens, an economically important rice pest in Southeast Asia, was injectedwith trehalose or glucose to investigate their effects on chitin metabolism. Excess trehalose and glucose significantly increased the rate of deformity (molting and/or wing deformities) and mortality in N. lugens. Trehalose, glycogen, and glucose contents were also significantly decreased in N. lugens treated with trehalose or glucose. Chitin content and the expression of NlHK, NlUAP, NlG6PI1, NlGFAT, NlGNPNA, NlPGM1, NlPGM2, NlCHS1, NlCHS1a, NlCHS1b, NlCht3, NlCht4, NlCht6, and NlCht7 were significantly decreased, whereas the expression of NlCht2, NlIDGF, and NlENGase was significantly increased in treated insects. Furthermore, a significant increase in the expression of NlTRE1-1, NlTRE2, and NlTPS1 and a decrease, in the expression of NlTPS2 were observed. Results of this study suggested that excess trehalose and glucose could affect chitin metabolism by regulating the expression of pivotal genes to decrease the chitin content, resulting in the inability of N. lugens to complete its molting process.

In this study, a novel efficient and environmentally friendly recycling process is developed to recoverspent LiMn2O4 powder as raw materials for high-performance LiMnPO4/C nanocomposites. The processcomprises a mechanochemical liquid-phase activation of the precursor mixture followed by a single-stepsolid-state heat treatment. The results indicate that the recovered LiMnPO4/C nano-composite has apromising electrochemical performance with discharge capacities of 148.5, 136.1, and 116.5 mA h g 1 at0.05, 0.2, and 1C rate, respectively, in the voltage range of 2.5–4.5 V. A perfect cyclic performance is alsodisplayed with a capacity retention of 98% after 100 cycles at 1C rate.

Background: Smoking behavior is influenced by multiple genes, including the bitter taste gene TAS2R38. It has been reported that the correlation between TAS2R38 and smoking behavior has ethnicity-based differences. However, the TAS2R38 status in Chinese smokers is still unclear. Objective: This study aims to investigate the possible relationship between genetic variations in TAS2R38 (A49P, V262A and I296V) and smoking behaviors in the Han Chinese population. Methods: The haplotype analyses were performed and smoking behavior questionnaire was completed by 1271 individuals. Genetic association analyses for smoking behavior were analyzed using chi-square test. Further, for investigating the molecular mechanism of TAS2R38 variants effect on smoking behavior, we conducted TAS2R38-PAV and TAS2R38-AVI expression plasmids and tested the cellular calcium assay by cigarette smoke compounds stimulus in HEK293. Results: Significant associations of genetic variants within TAS2R38 were identified with smoking behavior. We found a higher PAV/PAV frequency than AVI/AVI in moderate and high nicotine dependence (FTND ≥ 4; X2 = 4.611, 1 df, p = 0.032) and strong cigarette smoke flavor intensity preference (X2 = 4.5383, 1 df, p = 0.033) in participants. Furthermore, in the in vitro cellular calcium assay, total particle matter (TPM), N-formylnornicotine and cotinine, existing in cigarette smoke, activated TAS2R38-PAV but not TAS2R38-AVI-transfected cells. Conclusion: Our data highlights that genetic variations in TAS2R38 are related to smoking behavior, especially nicotine dependence and cigarette smoke flavor intensity preference. Our findings may encourage further consideration of the taste process to identify individuals susceptible to nicotine dependence, particularly Han Chinese smokers.

A novel process of electrochemical cathode reduction has been developed for leaching of metals from spent LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 material. The leaching efficiencies of Li, Ni, Co and Mn reached to 100, 99.87, 99.58 and 99.82%, respectively with 1.5 mol/L malic acid and working voltage of 8 V at 300 r/min and 60 °C for 30 min. Kinetics analysis indicates that leaching process is controlled by surface chemical reaction. The Ea for Li, Ni, Co and Mn was 41.71, 42.83, 44.38 and 43.17 kJ/mol, respectively. Based on EIS analysis, leaching process is mainly controlled by charge transfer resistance of the surface chemical reaction.

Objective Predefining the most effective treatment for patients with depressive disorders remains a problem. We will examine the differential brain regions of gray matter (GM) in major depressive disorder (MDD) patients and the relationship between changes in their volume and the efficacy of early antidepressant treatment using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).Methods 159 never-medicated patients with first-episode MDD and 53 normal control subjects (NCs) were enrolled. The brains were scanned by MRI and measured with the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-17) at baseline and after 2 weeks of treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI)s, and the non-responder group and responder group were obtained. The patients were analyzed by voxel-based morphological (VBM) and SPSS software. Receiver operator characteristics (ROC) analysis was performed for the difference between the responder group and the non-responder group in the differential brain regions, and Pearson correlations were computed between volume size and HAMD score reduction rate. Results Smaller GM volume of the right superior temporal gyrus (STG), and the orbital parts of the right medial frontal gyrus and right inferior frontal gyrus were observed in MDD versus the NCs. The non-responder group demonstrated a significant volume reduction at the right STG compared with the responders, but no corresponding change in orbital part of right medial frontal gyrus and right inferior frontal gyrus. ROC analysis showed that Accuracy=71.2%. There was a positive correlation between the STG gray matter volume and the HAMD-17 score reduction rate (r=0.347, p=0.002).Conclusion The study results confirmed the local changes in brain structure in MDD and may initially predict the early treatment response produced by SSRIs as antidepressants.

Meng Qi,서종환(Jonghwan Seo),변재형(Jaehyung Byun) 한국스마트미디어학회 2020 스마트미디어저널 Vol.9 No.4
With the advent of the Internet era, consumer lifestyles have been changed tremendously, and mobile payment has carried out an increasingly extensive coverage of the people s life trajectory. Taking the design of the mobile payment interface as an example, we use a conjoint analysis method to survey college students in Guangxi, where questionnaires are collected from 270 people in different groups according to gender. The method separates the attributes that affect consumer choice of mobile payment interface design and the utility value of the attribute level to analyze consumer needs and preferences, and then obtains consumers potential evaluation criteria for mobile payment interface design. The results of the study show that the attributes that influence consumers choice of mobile payment interface design are, in order of preference: page layout, identification convenience, verification, module distribution, entertainment, and information encryption. Consumer groups of different genders show differences in their preferences in the mobile payment interface design and Consumer needs reflect consumer psychology. Several findings are obtained on the consumers preferences on the mobile payment interface design, which may be used to improve future design processes.

QI, MENG,SHAO, XINHUI The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2021 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.39 No.3
Some problems in engineering and science can be equivalently transformed into solving multi-linear systems. In this paper, we propose two preconditioned AOR iteration methods to solve multi-linear systems with -tensor. Based on these methods, the general conditions of preconditioners are given. We give the convergence theorem and comparison theorem of the two methods. The results of numerical examples show that methods we propose are more effective.

This paper studies a new fault-tolerant tracking control for magnetic levitation (MagLev) systems. Remarkably, the controlled system not merely admits unknown functions, but also allows unknown control directions. Under the backstepping framework, the neural network (NN) is constructively framed to estimate the unknown function in the MagLev system. Besides, to avoid high derivatives in the backstepping method, adaptive nonlinear filtering is applied to calculate the virtual control signal. Then, the Nussbaum gain technique is adopted to overcome the unknown control direction problem. Meanwhile, adaptive law in the proposed method is exploited to compensate for the influence of actuator failures. It turns out that the proposed adaptive fault-tolerant controller has the capability of guaranteeing the boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop system while steering the tracking error to converge to zero. Simulation analysis demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.
