Swing tempo, rhythm and swing plane are shown to be important in maintaining the performance. However, nearly all studies utilized optical motion capture system for the planar behavior of golf swings and the movement of the club. The primary aim of this study was to develop inertial measurement unit sensor-based swing motion analysis algorithm, and validate against an optical motion camera system by comparing the estimated clubhead trajectories during the golf swing. Then, the tempo, rhythm and functional swing plane were investigated using a validated wearable inertial sensor. Fourteen male golfers performed repeated swings for three clubs (driver, 7-iron, and wedge) and at three distances (30 m, 50 m, and 70 m using the wedge). The swing tempo of all the participants was consistent across different clubs. The swing rhythm tends to decrease for club types with less carrying distance. The functional swing plane slope tends to decrease for club types with greater carrying distance. Our study demonstrated a potential application of a wearable inertial measurement unit system for analyzing golf performance parameters.
Validation of the Work Engagement Scale-3, used in the 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey

Background: The purpose of this study was to assess the reliability and validity of the 3-item version of the Work Engagement Scale (WES-3), which is based on the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model and was used in the 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey (KWCS). Methods: This study used data from the 5th KWCS (n = 50,205), which was conducted in 2017 with a sample of the Korean working population. The survey gathered comprehensive information on working conditions to define workforce changes and the quality of work and life. The reliability and internal consistency of the WES-3 were assessed using the corrected item-total correlation and Cronbach"s alpha coefficient. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to test the construct validity of work engagement. The convergent validity was assessed using the correlation with the WHO-5 well-being index. Correlations between work engagement and JD-R factors were also calculated. Results: The Cronbach"s alpha for work engagement was 0.776, indicating acceptable internal consistency. The model comprising 3 work engagement and 2 burnout items showed an excellent fit (χ2: 382.05, Tucker-Lewis index: 0.984, comparative fit index: 0.994, root mean square error of approximation: 0.043). The convergent validity was significant (correlation coefficient: 0.42). Correlations with burnout and job demands were negligible, whereas correlations with job resources and job satisfaction were weakly positive. Conclusions: The results of our study confirm that the WES-3 has acceptable reliability and validity.
Photophysiological Response of Korean Endemic Plant Hosta yingeri to Shading Conditions

The purpose of this study was to confirm the shade tolerance of Hosta yingeri native to Korea for its introduction to indoor gardens. We investigated the growth and physiological responses of H. yingeri under three different low light conditions as indoors: 30 μmol·m<SUP>-2</SUP>·s<SUP>-1</SUP> PPFD (L30), 20 μmol·m<SUP>-2</SUP>·s<SUP>-1</SUP> PPFD (L20), and 10 μmol·m<SUP>-2</SUP>·s<SUP>-1</SUP> PPFD (L10), compared to the control of 320 μmol·m<SUP>-2</SUP>·s<SUP>-1</SUP> PPFD, which was 60% of outdoor light. We experimented with the environment-controlled growth chambers set by 23°C air temperature, 45% relative humidity and 16-h day-length conditions for eight weeks. The light use efficiency was the highest in the L10 treatment. The plants in the L10 treatment were the most sensitive to light; meanwhile, those of the control showed dynamic photoinhibition. The control and L10 treatments showed shade stress based on chlorophyll fluorescence (Fv/Fm), whereas the L20 and L30 treatments did not. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) revealed that the plants in the control and L30 treatment accumulated more starch grains in the chlorophyll than those in the L10 or L20 treatments. We observed leaves’ distinctive dark green color in H. yingeri in all treatments regardless of light treatment conditions. These results suggest that H. yingeri can photosynthesize and grow without shade stress in the low light condition in about 20 μmol·m<SUP>-2</SUP>·s<SUP>-1</SUP> PPFD.

Purpose: The increasing use of electric personal mobility devices (ePMDs) has been accompanied by an increasing incidence of associated accidents. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of ePMD-related injuries and their associated factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted using data from the Emergency Department-based Injury In-depth Surveillance database from 2014 to 2018. All patients who were injured while operating an ePMD were eligible. The primary outcome was the rate of severe injury, defined as an excess mortality ratio-adjusted Injury Severity Score of ≥25. We calculated the adjusted odds ratios (AORs) of outcomes associated with ePMD-related injuries. Results: Of 1,391,980 injured patients, 684 (0.05%) were eligible for inclusion in this study. Their median age was 28 years old, and most injuries were sustained by men (68.0%). The rate of ePMD-related injuries increased from 3.1 injuries per 100,000 population in 2014 to 100.3 per 100,000 population in 2018. A majority of the injuries occurred on the street (32.7%). The most commonly injured area was the head and face (49.6%), and the most common diagnosis was superficial injuries or contusions (32.9%). Being aged 55 years or older (AOR, 3.88; 95% confidence interval, 1.33-11.36) and operating an ePMD while intoxicated (AOR, 2.78; 95% confidence interval, 1.52-5.08) were associated with severe injuries. Conclusions: The number of emergency room visits due to ePMD-related injuries is increasing. Old age and drunk driving are both associated with serious injuries. Active traffic enforcement and safety regulations regarding ePMDs should be implemented to prevent severe injuries caused by ePMD-related accidents.

멀티미디어 DBMS을 지원하기 위해서는 객체중심 데이타 모델과 능동적인 기능을 필요로 한다. 이에 사용자의 요구에 의한 사용자 정의 타입을 지원하며, 각 데이타 타입에 따른 코드를 데이타베이스 안에 넣어 두고, 사용자가 호출할 때 사용될 수 있도록 하는 방법이 요구된다. 또한 DBMS에서 응용 프로그램의 루틴을 호출하여 간단한 데이타베이스 작업을 처리할 필요가 있다. 사용자 정의 타입을 위해 메소드 처리 기능을 지원하기 위한 고려사항으로는 언어 처리 방식, 인터페이스, DBMS 보호, 접근 권한 등이 있다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 컴파일 방식과 인터프리터 방식을 고려한 메소드 처리기를 질의 처리기에 제공한다. 내부적으로 동적 링크 라이브러리를 사용하며, 메소드의 안정적인 처리를 위해 다른 프로세스를 생성하는 기법을 사용한다. 개별 객체에 대한 기본 연산은 메모리내 객체 관리기의 인터페이스를 사용한다. 그리고 메소드 처리기의 기능적인 확장을 통해 능동 DBMS를 지원하는 방안을 다루었다. 이를 통해 사건의 발생에 따라 미리 등록된 응용 프로그램의 루틴을 호출하는 기능을 제공한다.
병렬 데이타베이스에서 그룹 연산 후 정렬된 결과의 부분에 대한 성능 향상 기법

그룹 연산은 분석을 위한 복잡한 질의에서 자주 사용된다. 또한 복잡한 질의에서는 우선 순위에 따라 결과에서의 투플 수를 사용자가 명시하는 경우가 많다. 본 연구에서는 그룹 연산을 포함하고, 결과에서의 투플 수를 명시한 질의에 대해 병렬 데이타베이스에서 성능을 개선하기 위한 기법을 제안한다. 그룹 연산의 특성상 부분합의 합으로 전체 합을 계산할 수 있는 성질을 이용하여, 각 노드에서 그룹별로 부분합을 계산하고, 사용자가 요구한 순서에 따라 일부만을 정렬하여 병합 노드에 전송한다. 병합 노드에서는 이렇게 정렬되어 전송된 부분합을 병합하여 사용자가 명시한 수의 그룹별 전체 합을 구한다. 이것은 정렬 비용과 전송 비용을 감소시키게 되고 결과적으로 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. Group operations are used very often in complex queries for analysis. For complex queries, the number of ordered results is frequently specified. We propose the performance enhancement technique for queries which have group operations and are specified by the number of results. Based on the property of the group operations, the total sum can be calculated by summing partial sums. At each sub-node, we calculate partial sum for each group, sort some of them by the order of user's request, and transfer them to grouping node. At the grouping node, we can calculate the specified number of total sum for each group by merging the sorted and transferred partial sums. It can reduce the sort and the transfer cost, and will result in the performance enhancement.

웹의 사용이 확대되면서 웹 시스템의 성능 문제가 대두되고 있다. 저장된 화일을 그대로 반환하는 정적 웹 문서와 달리 동적 웹 문서는 사용자가 요청할 때마다 데이타베이스 접근과 같은 비용이 큰 작업을 새로 실행해야 하므로 부하가 크다. 본 논문에서는 동적 웹 문서의 생성 결과를 캐싱하고, 동적 웹 문서가 접근하는 데이타베이스의 테이블에 대한 변경 여부에 따라 캐싱 결과의 유효 여부를 판단하여 동적인 웹 문서의 특성을 유지하면서 캐싱에 의해 웹 시스템의 성능을 높이는 기법과, 일정 시간 한도 내에서는 데이타베이스 변경에 관계없이 캐싱된 웹 문서를 돌려줌으로써 성능을 높이는 기법을 제안한다. 또한 제안된 기법을 소스 코드가 공개된 게이트웨이 프로그램의 확장을 통하여 구현한다.
