The flow around two rectangular cylinders with aspect ratio of 0.5 in a tandem arrangement, was investigated using pressure measurements (in a wind tunnel) and flow visualizations (in a water tunnel) in the range of P/h from 0.6 to 4.0. Four flow patterns were identified, and processes of shear layers wrapping around, the shear layer reattachment, vortices wrapping around and vortices impingement, were observed. Mean and rms pressure distributions, flow visualizations and Strouhal numbers were presented and discussed. The paper revealed that the variations of Strouhal numbers were associated with the shear layers or vortex interference around two cylinders.

A novel method based on a reaction between the growing polymer chain and cinnamoyl chloride (CC)was developed to determine the number of active centers (Cp) in olefin polymerization with supported Ziegler-Natta catalysts. The reaction of titanium-polymeryl bonds in the active centers of MgCl2/ID/TiCl4-AlR3 type catalysts with CC was very fast at 20~80 oC. Cinnamoyl labeled polymer chains were formed, which were stable in the reaction system for at least 10 min when the CC/Al molar ratio was > 1. The number of active centers was determined by measuring the number of carbonyl groups in the polymer with the UV-vis method. The Cp values of the 1-hexene polymerization systems with the addition of hydrogen were also measured.

In this work, the application of ionic liquid (IL) and ultrasonic (Ul) treatment on the bleachability and properties of eucalyptus kraft pulp were investigated. The results showed that ILs protected fibers from depolymerization by improving the pulp viscosity. The combination of Ul and IL treatment notably reduced the kappa number and improved tensile index, burst index, tear strength index and folding endurance of pulp. Ul and IL treatment reduced the fines content, decrease the water retention value (WRV) and cause the formation of crosslinks between fibers, especially in Ul+[TEA][HSO4] treatment. The XRD and FT-IR analysis illustrated the combination of Ul and IL treatment disturbed the amorphous region of pulp fiber by increasing of crystallinity and no chemical change appeared in the treatment process. The Ul assisted IL treatment technology will have a promising application due to its high efficiency and environmental protection character.
High efficiency top-emitting white organic light-emitting devices with a (metal/organic)_2 cathode

White top-emitting organic light-emitting devices (TEOLEDs) were fabricated on a glass substrate with metal/organic multilayer of (Ag/Alq_3)_2 (Alq3 is tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum) as cathode. White TEOLEDs with high efficiencywere obtained due to the microcavity effects.Andthe (Ag/Alq_3)_2 cathode,which adjusted the optical characteristics of the devices, played an important role. In addition, Alq_3―Ag―Alq_3multilayer could work as a buffer layer, which would simplify the process of encapsulation for devices.We also calculated the electroluminescence spectrum of devices encapsulated with Al_2O_3 (150 nm) and Al_2O_3(75 nm)/ZrO_2(75 nm). And the results indicated that the CIE coordinates is almost the same between with and without encapsulating.

Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) on the performance of the phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) were investigated. The green phosphorescent OLEDs with GNPs incorporated in hole transporting layer (HTL) or hole blocking layer (HBL) were fabricated using thermal evaporation technique. The results indicated that the performance of the OLEDs with GNPs were dependent on the position of the GNPs. The optimized device with GNPs in HBL shows enhanced current efficiency and reduced efficiency roll-off. However, the efficiency of the device with GNPs in HTL was decreased. The detailed physical mechanism is investigated in order to unveil such difference.
