Preliminary Study on Meat Quality of Goats Fed Levels of Licury Oil in the Diet
Silva, Thadeu Mariniello,Oliveira, Ronaldo Lopes,Barbosa, Larissa Pires,Neto, Americo Froes Garcez,Bagaldo, Adriana Regina,Lanna, Dante Pazzanese Duarte,Da Silva, Mauricio Costa Alves,De Jesus, Iona B Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2011 Animal Bioscience Vol.24 No.8
The study aimed to evaluate the best level of licury oil in the diet of 3/4 Boer goats, as determined by profile analysis of commercial cuts on aspects of chemical composition, sensorial quality and fatty acid content. Nineteen male goats were used, with an initial weight of 10.8 kg/live weigh. The animals were fed with hay and a concentrated mix containing different levels of licury oil, which constituted the treatments. The experiment lasted for 60 days, at which point the animals were submitted to feed fasting and slaughtered. The carcass weight, commercial yield and cuts were measured. The ham was collected for sensorial and chemical evaluation and the longissimus dorsi was collected for fatty acid profile analysis. The addition of licury oil to the diet did not promote changes in the proportions and weights of the commercial cuts, nor to the meat's sensorial attributes. The sum of medium-chain fatty acids and the atherogenicity index was increased with the addition of oil. Licury oil can be added to the diet of goats (up to 4.5%) without resulting in changes in to the proportions of the commercial cuts, or to the chemical composition or sensorial characteristics of the meat. Based on the chain length of fatty acids, the addition of 4.5% licury oil can improve the quality of meat, but no effect was noted in relation to the atherogenicity index.
Endoscopic diagnosis of gastric metastases from malignant melanoma: systematic review
Helena Campoli Reggiani,Ana Clara Aguiar Pongeluppi,Vitória Froes Miraglia Martins Ferreira,Isadora Pinheiro Felix,Paulo Moacir de Oliveira Campoli 대한소화기내시경학회 2022 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.55 No.4
Background/Aims: Metastases of malignant melanoma (MM) are rare and associated with poor prognosis. The objective of this studywas to analyze the clinical and endoscopic characteristics of gastric metastases of MM by systematically reviewing cases and case seriesinvolving patients diagnosed using upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Methods: The PubMed and LILACS databases were searched. Reports containing individual patient data were included. Outcomessuch as clinical data, endoscopic findings, treatments, and survival were analyzed. Results: A total of 88 studies with individual data from 113 patients with gastric metastases of MM were included. The primary sites ofMM were the skin (62%), eyes (10%), and mucous membranes (6%). Most patients (56%) had multiple metastases in the stomach, locatedpredominantly in the gastric body (approximately 80%). The overall survival rate at 2 years was 4%. There was a significant reductionin the survival of patients with multiple gastric metastases compared to that of patients with single metastasis (hazard ratio,0.459; 95% confidence interval, 0.235−0.895; p=0.022). Conclusions: Gastric metastases of MM have a poor prognosis, especially in patients with multiple implants in the stomach. Additionalstudies are needed to verify whether ocular and mucosal melanomas are associated with a higher risk of gastric metastases than thatof cutaneous melanomas.
Hot Isostatic Pressing of Nanostructured γ - TiAl Powders

A study of the hot isostatic pressing (HIP'ing) of γ-TiAl powders produced by mechanical alloying, has demonstrated that full density can be achieved 400℃ or more below the temperature required for conventional powder; that is 725℃ or below. Nanostructured grains (≤100 ㎚) are observed after HIP'ing up to 850℃.

Foreign body granulomas can develop after the injection of various cosmetic filling materials into the facial area to flatten wrinkles. Clinically, reactive lesions are easily mistaken for soft-tissue neoplasms or cysts. This report presents a case of foreign body granuloma in a 52-year-old female patient complaining of a painless swelling in the nasolabial region. Both clinical and histological features are described, underscoring the diagnostic role of magnetic resonance imaging findings.

Expatriates are often presented in the cross-cultural adjustment literature as a homogeneous, broad population. However, recent research that makes a distinction between organizational expatriates (OEs), those who are dispatched by their home companies to international posts, and self-initiated expatriates (SIEs), those who themselves make the decision to live and work abroad, has identified differences between the two groups. The present study compares the cross-cultural adjustment of these two groups of expatriates. Survey results of 179 expatriates in Japan show that SIEs are better adjusted to general aspects of their host country and interactions with host-country nationals than OEs. Suggestions for practice are provided.
