The objective of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of posterior colpotomy for the surgical treatment oftubal ectopic pregnancy in hemodynamically stable women. We performed a retrospective analysis of medicalrecords obtained over a period of 18 months. Twelve cases were identified, with the following characteristics: meangestational age, 7.7 weeks; mean serum β-human chorionic gonadotropin level, 7,786 mIU/mL; and greater diameterof the mass, 15–69 mm. Treatment was successful in all cases. Salpingectomy was performed in 10 patients (83.3%)and salpingostomy, in 1 patient. The remaining patient only received peritoneal lavage, as the evidence of ectopicabortion with only a slightly dilated uterine tube was found during surgery. The mean surgical time was 42.5 minutes. In the analyzed cases, posterior colpotomy was found to be a feasible alternative method for the surgical treatmentof tubal ectopic pregnancy in hemodynamically stable women.
Fourier-Based PLL Applied for Selective Harmonic Estimation in Electric Power Systems
Santos, Claudio H.G.,Ferreira, Reginaldo V.,Silva, Sidelmo Magalhaes,Cardoso Filho, Braz J. The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2013 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.13 No.5
In this paper, the Fourier-based PLL (Phase-locked Loop) is introduced with a new structure, capable of selective harmonic detection in single and three-phase systems. The application of the FB-PLL to harmonic detection is discussed and a new model applicable to three-phase systems is introduced. An analysis of the convergence of the FB-PLL based on a linear model is presented. Simulation and experimental results are included for performance analysis and to support the theoretical development. The decomposition of an input signal in its harmonic components using the Fourier theory is based on previous knowledge of the signal fundamental frequency, which cannot be easily implemented with input signals with varying frequencies or subjected to phase-angle jumps. In this scenario, the main contribution of this paper is the association of a phase-locked loop system, with a harmonic decomposition and reconstruction method, based on the well-established Fourier theory, to allow for the tracking of the fundamental component and desired harmonics from distorted input signals with a varying frequency, amplitude and phase-angle. The application of the proposed technique in three-phase systems is supported by results obtained under unbalanced and voltage sag conditions.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess texture analysis (TA) of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images as a quantitative tool for the differential diagnosis of odontogenic and non-odontogenic maxillary sinusitis (OS and NOS, respectively). Materials and Methods: CBCT images of 40 patients diagnosed with OS (N = 20) and NOS (N = 20) were evaluated. The gray level co-occurrence (GLCM) matrix parameters, and gray level run length matrix texture (GLRLM) parameters were extracted using manually placed regions of interest on lesion images. Seven texture parameters were calculated using GLCM and 4 parameters using GLRLM. The Mann-Whitney test was used for comparisons between the groups, and the Levene test was performed to confirm the homogeneity of variance (α = 5%). Results: The results showed statistically significant differences (P<0.05) between the OS and NOS patients regarding 3 TA parameters. NOS patients presented higher values for contrast, while OS patients presented higher values for correlation and inverse difference moment. Greater textural homogeneity was observed in the OS patients than in the NOS patients, with statistically significant differences in standard deviations between the groups for correlation, sum of squares, sum of entropy, and entropy. Conclusion: TA enabled quantitative differentiation between OS and NOS on CBCT images by using the parameters of contrast, correlation, and inverse difference moment.

Foreign body granulomas can develop after the injection of various cosmetic filling materials into the facial area to flatten wrinkles. Clinically, reactive lesions are easily mistaken for soft-tissue neoplasms or cysts. This report presents a case of foreign body granuloma in a 52-year-old female patient complaining of a painless swelling in the nasolabial region. Both clinical and histological features are described, underscoring the diagnostic role of magnetic resonance imaging findings.
