Environmental problems have emerged in society and interest in eco-friendly practices has increased. As the cosmetics industry grows, environmental problems caused by packaging materials and chemicals are occurring. Cosmetic ingredients contain chemicals and containers are difficult to recycle, such as plastics and glass. In response to these changes, the cosmetics market is also launching green marketing. Consumers aim to consume by their values and express their beliefs through consumption. As interest in eco-friendly cosmetics increases, consumers choose products from various perspectives such as whether they contain chemical ingredients, quality, and price. For this reason, many companies need to make eco-friendly efforts to reduce waste and plastic in the manufacturing and distribution process to gain consumer trust. Demand for eco-friendly cosmetics is increasing as awareness of eco-friendly cosmetics is increasing through eco-friendly practices by individuals and companies. In order for the eco-friendly cosmetics market to grow, it is necessary for companies to make up for their low accessibility and awareness of eco-friendly cosmetics. This study conducted a survey of adults in their 20s and 30s living in Korea for about four weeks from January 28 to February 27, 2020, using the online form. A total of 207 copies of the questionnaire were collected, of which 201 were used as final analysis materials, excluding six dishonest answers. In this study, we looked at the impact of environmental values and green marketing perceptions on consumers purchasing patterns of eco-friendly cosmetics from a consumers point of view. Through this, we will understand environmental values, awareness of green marketing, and influence of eco-friendly cosmetics purchasing form, and present suggestions of green marketing strategies of eco-friendly cosmetics companies.

Abies koreana, a plant species endemic to Korea, is sensitive to climate change. However, little is known about the molecular mechanisms underlying its environmental stress response. Here, we characterized the effects of exogenous abscisic acid (ABA) concentration, application method, and application duration on the expression of ABA-responsive genes in A. koreana. The expression level of AkNAC19 was significantly higher in ABA (0.2, 0.4, 0.8 mM)-treated leaves (needles) than in non-treated samples, indicating the role of ABA in the induction of gene expression. In addition, 0.2 mM ABA was found to be optimal for gene regulation. When assessing the efficacies of ABA application methods, the dipping method was slightly more effective in inducing gene expression than the pressure method. Therefore, leaves were further treated with 0.2 mM ABA using the dipping method to investigate the expression levels of multiple ABA-responsive genes, including AkNAC19, AkMPK6, AkERF4, AkNAC2, AkbHLH, AkEFP, AkHSP17.6, and AkMYB123. The expression levels of all genes, except AkMPK6, were significantly higher in ABA-treated leaves than in non-treated leaves. However, the optimal treatment duration for gene expression induction varied with the gene type. Overall, these results suggest that A. koreana responds to abiotic stress by upregulating the expression of ABA-responsive genes.

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is characterized by chronic, relapsing skin inflammation (eczema) with itchy sensation. Keratinocytes, which are located at the outermost part of our body, are supposed to play important roles at the early phase of type 2 inflammation including AD pathogenesis. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether keratinocytes-derived reactive oxygen species (ROS) could be produced by the allergens or non-allergens, and the keratinocytes- derived ROS could modulate a set of biomarkers for type 2 inflammation of the skin. Methods: Normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEKs) were treated with an allergen of house dust mites (HDM) or a non-allergen of compound 48/80 (C48/80). Then, biomarkers for type 2 inflammation of the skin including those for neurogenic inflammation were checked by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction and western immunoblot experiments. Results: HDM or C48/80 was found to upregulate expression levels of our tested biomarkers, including type 2 T helper-driving pathway (KLK5, PAR2, and NFκB), epithelial-cell-derived cytokines (thymic stromal lymphopoietin, interleukin [IL]-25, IL-33), and neurogenic inflammation (NGF, CGRP). The HDMor C-48/80-induced expression levels of the biomarkers could be blocked by an antioxidant treatment with 5 mM N-acetyl- cysteine. In contrast, pro-oxidant treatment with 1 mM H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> could upregulate expression levels of the tested biomarkers in NHEKs. Conclusion: Our results reveal that keratinocytes- derived ROS, irrespective to their origins from allergens or non-allergens, have a potential to induce type 2 inflammation of AD skin. 폴리인산나트륨과 피로인산나트륨 조합에 따른 저염 돈육 : Evaluation of Physicochemical and Textural Properties of Low-salt

This study was performed to evaluate the physicochemical and textural properties of low-salt comminuted pork shoulder with various levels and types of sodium phosphate. The addition level of sodium tripolyphosphate was ranged from 0 to 0.5% with 0.1% increments, and the physicochemical and textural properties of minced pork shoulder were evaluated (Experiment 1). The increased phosphate level increased pH and moisture content, but decreased Hunter L values (whiteness). Compared with the control (without STPP), cooking yield (CY, %) was increased at the STPP level of 0.4% (p<0.05). In the experiment 2, the effect of STPP and sodium pyrophosphate (SPP) alone or in combination on the physicochemical and textural characteristics of comminuted pork shoulder was evaluated. pH, moisture content and CY were affected by the addition of sodium phosphate, but not the type of phosphate. Pork shoulders with 1% salt and the combination of STPP and SPP at the ratio of 2:1 had higher springiness than the control, whereas those with 1% salt had lower chewiness than 1.5% salt, regardless of STPP and SPP alone or in combination. These results indicated that pork shoulder containing 1.0% salt in combined with STPP and SPP at the combination of 2:1 were evaluated as an effective combination to have proper functional and textural properties of comminuted pork shoulder.
