Purpose: Present an updated classification for symptomatic hemorrhoids, which not only guides the treatment of internal hemorrhoids but also the treatment of external components. In addition, this new classification includes new treatment alternatives created over the last few years. Methods: Throughout the past 7 years, the authors developed a method to classify patients with symptomatic hemorrhoids. This study, besides presenting this classification proposal, also retrospectively analyzed 149 consecutive patients treated between March 2011 and November 2013 and aimed to evaluate the association between the management adopted with Goligher classification and our proposed BPRST classification. Results: Both classifications had a statistically significant association with the adopted management strategies. However, the BPRST classification tended to have fewer management discrepancies when each stage of disease was individually analyzed. Conclusion: Although there is much disagreement about how the classification of hemorrhoidal disease should be updated, it is accepted that some kind of revision is needed. The BPRST method showed a strong association with the management that should be adopted for each stage of the disease. Further studies are needed for its validation, but the current results are encouraging.
Causas e implicaciones del fin a la multipropiedad en el fútbol mexicano

The soccer multi-ownership exists when the same person or company owns two or more football clubs at the same time in a professional league. This practice has been considered by FIFA, and conditioned according to its statutes, to protect the integrity of this sport, due to the fact that if two soccer teams are playing in the same competition and both of them are owned by the same individual, this could have an adverse effect on the truthfulness of the competition. Under this consideration, or even in spite of that, the soccer multi-ownership has existed in Mexico since 1982. Surprisingly, in May 2013, the Mexican Football Federation, after 31 years, announced the gradual abolition of this practice. The causes of this measure were not completely clarified, and presumably are not related to a FIFA’s direct command or pressure, but to an internal struggle of interests among the Mexican soccer team owners. Particularly, it is believed that Grupo Televisa and Grupo Salinas, which are the conglomerates that apparently are in control of the professional soccer in Mexico, are behind that decision taken by the Mexican Football Federation. Throughout this analysis, based on a professional academic methodology aimed to find objective causalities among the facts occurred around the issue, the causes of the ban of the soccer multi-ownership in Mexico shall be examined.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the ability of ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) to diagnose the initial stages of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in a rat model. Methods: Eighteen male Wistar rats were allocated to control or experimental groups. A high-fat diet (HFD) with 20% fructose and 2% cholesterol, resembling a common Western diet, was fed to animals in the experimental groups for up to 16 weeks; those in the control group received a regular diet. A 21 MHz UBM system was used to acquire B-mode images at specific times: baseline (T0), 10 weeks (T10), and 16 weeks (T16). The sonographic hepatorenal index (SHRI), based on the average ultrasound image gray-level intensities from the liver parenchyma and right renal cortex, was determined at T0, T10, and T16. The liver specimen histology was classified using the modified Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis Clinical Research Network NAFLD activity scoring system. Results: The livers in the animals in the experimental groups progressed from sinusoidal congestion and moderate macro- and micro-vesicular steatosis to moderate steatosis and frequent hepatocyte ballooning. The SHRI obtained in the experimental group animals at T10 and T16 was significantly different from the SHRI of pooled control group. No significant difference existed between the SHRI in animals receiving HFD between T10 and T16.Conclusion: SHRI measurement using UBM may be a promising noninvasive tool to characterize early-stage NAFLD in rat models.
Towards a centralized route planning solution supporting time dependencies

Future route planning solutions are expected to provide significant Improvements in terms of route traversal times by accounting for both estimated and real-time traffic congestion states. Compared to current solutions, mostly based on static path segment costs, the main challenge is how to obtain reliable traffic congestion estimations for all the streets/avenues in a city for the different times of the day, for every day in a year. Modeling such a tremendous amount of data can be time-consuming and, additionally, centralized computation of optimal routes based on such time-dependencies has very high computational requirements. As a first approach to this problem, we propose a heuristic to reduce the modeling effort to a minimum while maintaing the benefits of time-dependent traffic congestion modeling. The effectiveness of this heuristic is assessed for the city of Valencia, Spain.
A Generalized Vision-based Stiffness Controller for Robot Manipulators with Bounded Inputs
Carlos Vidrios-Serrano,Marco Mendoza,Isela Bonilla,Berenice Maldonado-Fregoso 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2021 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.19 No.1
Generally, stiffness and impedance control schemes require knowledge of the location of any objectwith which a robot interacts within its workspace; therefore, the integration of a computer vision system withinthe control loop allows us to know the location of the robot end effector and the object (target) simultaneously. In this paper, a generalized and saturating vision-based stiffness controller with adaptive gravity compensationis presented. The proposed control algorithm is designed to regulate robot-environment interaction in task-space,where the contact force is modeled as a vector of generalized bounded spring-like forces. In order to control nonredundant robots, the proposed controller has a nonlinear proportional-derivative structure with static model-basedcompensation of gravitational forces, as it includes a regressor-based adaptive term. To support the proposal, theLyapunov stability analysis of the closed-loop equilibrium vector is presented. Finally, the suitable performance ofthe proposed scheme was verified by numerical simulations and experimental tests.

Vitamin A is essential for growth and differentiation of a number of cells and tissues, as result the precursor, a carotenoid β-carotene remains their essential source of vitamin A. However, the major problem this carotenoid face, is its susceptible to photodegradation and chemical oxidation, those properties make it difficult to use as an ingredient as functional food product and reduce its bioavailability. This study presents a novel approach to prepare a one-step inclusion complex using amylose microparticles as host molecule using amylosucrase from Deinococcus geothermalis (DGAS) and β-carotene nanoparticles, which were added into the DGAS enzyme reaction solution to entrap them during the synthesis of amylose chains. HRFE-SEM showing a spherical shape and average diameter of 4-8 μm; XRD and DSC showed an amorphous structure as well as less energy required to start the gelatinization process, due to the complexation of amylose chains with the β-carotene nano dispersion. Last but not least Raman spectroscopy was performed in order to confirmed the complex formation between β-carotene and amylose microparticles, showing the characteristic peaks of both compound. The stability test in this study showed the high stability of the complexed microparticles against environmental stresses such as, photodegradation and chemical oxidation. We expect this study contributes to the development of functional food materials to enhance the stability and bioavailability of active compounds.

Vaccinium meridionale Swartz, known as Andean berry, has a high content of anthocyanins, phenolic acids, and other flavonoids due to their putative anticancer activity. However, after consumption, the structures and function of these molecules may be altered. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pro-apoptotic effect of fermented non-digestible fraction (FNDF) of Andean berry juice (ABJ) on colon adenocarcinoma HT29 cells. HT29 cells were treated by FNDF-ABJ obtained by in vitro gastrointestinal fermentation. We determined the proapoptotic capacity by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assays, oxidative stress by analyzing superoxide dismutase and catalase activity, lipid peroxidation by measuring 8-iso-prostaglandin F2α, and measured lactate dehydrogenase. Our results show that FNDF-ABJ inhibited cell growth [lethal dose 50(%)=26% v/v]. In addition, FNDF-ABJ increased the number of TUNEL positive cells 2-fold compared with untreated cells without altering the release of lactate dehydrogenase. However, superoxide dismutase activity was reduced in HT29 cells treated with FNDF-ABJ, catalase activity was not affected and 8-iso-prostaglandin F2α levels were increased. These results support that the anti-proliferative effects of FNDF-ABJ on HT29 cells can be explained by apoptotic mechanisms.

In this paper is studied the effect of considering the theory of Timoshenko in the vibration of AFG beams that support ground masses. As it is known, Timoshenko theory takes into account the shear deformation and the rotational inertia, provides more accurate results in the general study of beams and is mandatory in the case of high frequencies or non-slender beams. The Rayleigh-Ritz Method is employed to obtain approximated solutions of the problem. The accuracy of the procedure is verified through results available in the literature that can be represented by the model under study. The incidence of the Timoshenko theory is analyzed for different cases of beam slenderness, variation of its cross section and compositions of its constituent material, as well as different amounts and positions of the attached masses.
