The Dietary Food Components Capric Acid and Caprylic Acid Inhibit Virulence Factors in Candida albicans Through Multitargeting

        Ashwini Jadhav,Supriya Mortale,Shivkrupa Halbandge,Priyanka Jangid,Rajendra Patil,Wasudev Gade,Kiran Kharat,Sankunny Mohan Karuppayil 한국식품영양과학회 2017 Journal of medicinal food Vol.20 No.11

Capric acid and caprylic acid are the dietary food components. They are found to inhibit the virulence factors like morphogenesis, adhesion, and biofilm formation in the human pathogenic yeast Candida albicans. Our study demonstrated that yeast-to-hyphal signal transduction pathways were affected by capric acid and caprylic acid. The expression profile of genes associated with serum-induced morphogenesis showed reduced expressions of Cdc35, Hwp1, Hst7, and Cph1 by the treatment with both the fatty acids. Cell elongation gene, Ece1, was surprisingly downregulated by 5208-fold by the treatment of caprylic acid. Nrg1 and Tup1, negative regulators of hyphal formation, were overexpressed in presence of capric or caprylic acid. Cell cycle studies revealed that capric and caprylic acids arrested cell cycle at G2/M and S phase. Targeting the virulence factors like yeast-to-hyphal transition is efficacious for treatment of opportunistic fungal infections. This research suggests that both capric and caprylic acid may be effective interventions for treating C. albicans yeast infections.

Implementation of IoT Application using Geofencing Technology for Protecting Crops from Wild Animals

        Ashwini L. Kadam,이훈,황민태 사단법인 미래융합기술연구학회 2020 아시아태평양융합연구교류논문지 Vol.6 No.6

In this paper, we propose a wild animal intrusion notification system using IoT and geofencing technology to protect crops from intruders such as wild animals. The system consists of an ultrasonic sensor to detect wild animals, LTE network communication for transmitting information about detection to a server system, geofencing technology that provides location information, and a mobile application that sends notifications to farmers in real-time. In this study, the prototype of the system was developed, and lab trials were carried out to analyze the time response performance between the hardware module and the mobile application used to receive the notification. It can be assumed that there will be no crop losses in farm fields if such a system is implemented. In the future, the system can also include wild animal intrusion prevention and prediction functions through big data analysis.

Understanding planform dynamics of the Ganga River in eastern part of India

        Ashwini Kumar,Pathan Shehnaj Ahmed,Singh Ajai 대한공간정보학회 2021 Spatial Information Research Vol.29 No.4

To understand the natural processes of planform change, meandering and formation of braid bars, satellite sensor data of few decades play a significant role. The present research focuses on the planform dynamics of Ganga River from Sahibganj (Jharkhand) to Jalangi in West Bengal, India. This study is based on the sequential river planform maps. These maps were prepared using Landsat 1, Landsat 3, Landsat 4, Landsat 5 and Landsat 7 data for the period 1975–2015 at an interval of 5 years. The sinuosity index, braiding index and spatial analysis of maps were used to assess and classify the river into straight, braided and meander categories. This was observed that braiding index is continuously increasing and the meandering index has decreased from 1.6 to 1.24 during 1975 to 2015. The results showed the changes in channel migration with time and space. From the analysis, it is observed that the factors causing shifting of the Ganga River in some areas are natural and anthropogenic. Landsat images were found to be effective in determining the meandering index, braiding index and planform change of a river.

      • Field Test and Pattern Analysis of Wild Animal Intrusions to the Farm Field

        Ashwini L. Kadam,Mintae Hwang 한국정보통신학회 2021 2016 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE Vol.12 No.1

In this paper, we proposed a system that attempts to address the wild animal intrusions patterns analysis in the farm field. In this research, the hardware (HW) module prototype was developed to collect the wild animal intrusions data. The field test of the HW module prototype was conducted in the farm field, and every motion near the farm field is assumed that as wild animal intrusion. The data is collected from the farm field such as motion detection data, time, temperature, humidity, and GPS data. Using the collected data, intrusion patterns were analyzed in kinds of graphs date versus time and temperature versus humidity to make it easy to understand the farmer, when intrusion is occurring. In the future, we will expand this study with a prediction feature using a mobile application to get a prediction about wild animal intrusion in the future event.

Unique variation of the left testicular artery passing through a vascular hiatus in renal vein

        Ashwini Aithal Padur,Naveen Kumar 대한해부학회 2019 Anatomy & Cell Biology Vol.52 No.1

Surgeons should have a thorough knowledge regarding the morphologic variations of the testicular arteries as any injury to this artery during surgery might cause testicular atrophy. We report in here an unusual course of left testicular artery and discuss its embryological basis and its clinical implications. The left testicular artery had a high origin from the anterior aspect of the abdominal aorta at the level of origin of renal artery. In its further course, the left testicular artery passed through a hiatus present in the left renal vein. This unusual course of the testicular artery through the vascular hiatus might lead to its entrapment and is worth reporting in efforts to educate clinicians involved in abdominal and urogenital surgical procedures.

Micropropagation and DNA Delivery Studies in Onion Cultivars of Bellary, CO3

Ashwini Malla,Balamurugan Srinivasan,Bala Murugan Shanmugaraj,Sathishkumar Ramalingam 한국작물학회 2015 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.18 No.1

Onion is one of the most important vegetables grown all over the world. In the present study, rapidly growing and maintainable callus was accomplished using the basal meristem plate and twin scale leaves as explants in Bellary and CO3 varieties for callus induction and in vitro bulb formation. The two cultivars were transformed with Agrobacterium tumefaciens EHA 105 harboring the binary vector pCAMBIA 1301 containing the GUS gene with different concentrations of acetosyringone. The outcome of this study revealed that the frequency of callus induction was maximum on Murashige and Skoog medium (MS) fortified with B5 vitamins supplemented with 0.5 and 1 mg L-1 picloram. Regeneration of plantlets from the callus was observed on MS supplemented with 0.5 mg L-1 each of BAP and KIN and 0.1 mg L-1 NAA. In vitro bulb response was observed on MS with B5 vitamins supplemented with 2.0 mg L-1 BAP. GUS gene integration in the transgenic plants was confirmed by PCR. The maximum GUS gene expression was observed at a concentration of 150 μM acetosyringone in the transformed plants by histochemical assay. This protocol allows effective genetic transformation and regeneration system of onion via in vitro bulb development.

Phase wise spatial and temporal variations of nitrogen dioxide during and pre COVID-19 lockdown period in tier-1 cities of India

        Ashwini Kumar,Saw Gautam Kumar,Singh Ajai 대한공간정보학회 2021 Spatial Information Research Vol.29 No.6

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic disrupted basic lifestyle of everyone across the globe. To stop the conveyance of the coronavirus into the human body and to flatten the transmission rate curve, almost every country imposed a lockdown. In India, the emergency lockdown was imposed on the 24th of March 2020 which created an economic crisis in the country but proved a boon in disguise for the environment to improve its quality. The study analysed the statuses of air quality with respect to NO2 in pre and during the COVID-19 lockdown period in eight districts of India where tier I cities are located. Nitrous Oxide concentration was determined through Sentinel 5P satellites imagery and Central Pollution Control Board ground station data. The lockdown across the country has helped the environment to regain, and therefore, more studies are required to assess other parameters to explore the implementation of the provision of the well-planned lockdown of 1-week duration in a year for giving enough time to the environment to recuperate. These results show that the study areas (Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Pune) have witnessed a significant drop in nitrogen dioxide (14–62%) as compared to the same period in 2019. This propose an idea that the devilish, COVID-19 lockdown has proved to be an unknown tool for tranquillizing air pollution (NO2) during a lockdown within the Territory of Indian.
