The research on Baekche fortress(百濟山城) in eastern Cholla Province confirmed 17 of them until now. Based on these examples I examined their distribution pattern and tried to reconstruct the constructional method of Baekche fortresses, and furthermore tried to seek for the background of their construction and its historical meanings. The arrangement of fortresses in eastern Cholla Province is a lineal connection of individual fortress, and they were constructed in the locations along traffic course of the 'Seom-jin' river and southern coast. Fortresses in eastern Cholla Province which were mostly done by stone working, show similar construction method as seen in overall shape of wall, stone stacking method, position of doors, inside facilities, and so on. This shows that all those fortresses were constructed by the plan dictated from the central government of Baekche during certain range of period. This can be also supported by various specimens recovered from the fortresses and corresponding historical records. In early 6th century, Baekche declared her sovereignty over the territory by setting up a series of fortresses in eastern Cholla Province.

This paper explores possibilities for mining urban soundscape semantics and developing soundscape taxonomy. Instead of taking a top-down approach commonly employed by researchers, we approach this problem by crowdsourcing and embracing the notion of “collective listening” that is based on a bottom-up, sono-sematic soundscape taxonomy development strategy. The data acquisition mechanism exploits interactive online user studies to develop and construct an inter-and intra-audio-semantic architecture for electro-acoustic music.

The citygram project was launched in 2011 to explore non-ocular spatiotemporal energies with particular focus on collection, mapping, analysis, and archival urban soundscapes. For the past seven years, our efforts in augmenting existing mapping paradigms by addressing scientific and engineering problems necessary for capturing urban soundscapes have led to a multidisciplinary and multi-organizational collaborative efforts. Citygram currently captures spatio-acoustic energy via a flexible plug-and-sense sensor network design, where analytics is conducted at the source or edge, then further analyzed on the cloud, and finally visualized and mapped on the user’s access portal such as a web-browser. In this paper we summarize efforts in developing concepts, technologies, and analysis techniques that render data-driven multi-format maps with an overarching aim to better understand of urban environments and of its often-neglected, yet serious byproducts – noise pollution, which is the no.1 complaint by New Yorkers as quantified by New York City’s (NYC) 311 non-emergency hotline. We also summarize our approach in urban noise understanding by embracing data-driven, community-driven, and art-driven efforts to address creation, repurposing, and development of new technologies while embracing community engagement to scale sensor networks and music to bring awareness to the public.
