들기 작업시 손잡이의 영향에 관한 연구

        장성록,배동철 한국안전학회 2003 한국안전학회지 Vol.18 No.2

Despite rapid technological advance and increased automation facilities, many jobs and activities in our living require manual materials handling(MMH). These include wide variety of activities such as moving things, lifting bags, boxes or cartons, etc. Many studies found that handle could affect on maximum acceptable weight of lifting, but there were few studies for the effects of work posture and coupling in lifting tote box. This study performed that ten male college students were required to lift a tote box with and without handle for three postures (bending, straight, right angle posture). From the experiment, following results were obtained. (1) MVC reduced maximum 23% by type of handle. (2) MVC was highest in straight posture, but was lowest in right angle posture. (3) As a result of ANOVA, MVC paid attention to posture and coupling. (p<0.01) (4) To all handle types. biceps brachii activity was increased in right angle posture, but reduced in straight posture. (5) To all posture, biceps brachii activity was most lively in no handle. The results of MVC measurement, subjective rating. EMG analysis, statistic analysis showed that maximum acceptable weight of lifting was influenced by type of handle and straight posture was more comfortable than other postures. Based on these results. it was concluded that acceptable weight of lifting has to differ for work posture and coupling.

A Case Study of Ergonomic Evaluation for the Control Rooms of a Petroleum Complex

        Seong Rok Chang,Hoon-Yong Yoon,Hong-In Cheng 대한인간공학회 2017 大韓人間工學會誌 Vol.36 No.1

Objective: Two control rooms of a petroleum complex were ergonomically evaluated for this study using diverse drawings of the rooms. The objective of the study is to show the evaluation process and its results, assessment method and essential elements for drawing-based ergonomic evaluation. Background: Ergonomics can enhance the working environment and safety for a control room when implemented effectively. A control room design was examined by ergonomists based on ergonomic principles and well-practiced standards. This study was conducted because a construction consortium wanted to perform an ergonomic evaluation of the control rooms before the construction. Method: A simple evaluation process, composed with a pre-evaluation, an evaluation and a post-evaluation, was employed to carry out the study. ISO 11064, NUREG- 700, NUREG/CR-6150, and CRIOP were reviewed to evaluate the control rooms. The assessment ranges over the control room layout, workstations, display and control, environmental requirements and safety. Three ergonomists participated in the study and performed the evaluation for two months. Results: An experienced consortium of construction companies designed the petroleum complex and control rooms. No significant ergonomic design problems were detected. Quantitative recommendations were provided for the layout and workstation dimensions. Specific design directions were also proposed for environmental requirements and safety. Conclusion and Application: Design advice and minor potential problems were reported as results of the drawing-based ergonomic evaluation. More practical suggestions could be additionally provided if an on-site assessment was conducted. However, the ergonomic evaluation used in this study could be helpful and applied to designing and evaluating other various control rooms prior to their construction.

      • Effect of Trunk and Upper Arm Angle on Lifting Capacity

Chang, Seong Rok The Korean Society of Safety 2011 International Journal of Safety Vol.10 No.1

Lifting capacity and difficulty of task are influenced by body posture. In RULA and REBA, the body was divided into segments which formed two groups, A and B. Group A includes the upper and lower arm and wrist while group B includes the neck, trunk and legs. This ensures that whole body posture is recorded so that any awkward or constrained posture of the legs, trunk or neck which might influence the posture of the upper limb. This study aimed to measure MVC (maximum voluntary contraction) and subjective judgment in psychophysical method (Borg's scale) according to trunk and upper arm angle and to analyze results statistically. The results of this study were that lifting capacity was more influenced by interaction of body posture rather than angles of each part, and MVC variation according to trunk and upper arms angles should different patterns. This means that we consider the interaction of trunk angles and upper arm angles when we access risk factors of the postures. This survey would be also the basic data to evaluate difficulty of lifting tasks according to body postures ergonomically.

An Experimental Study on the Asymmetric Factor of Load Handling for Korean

        Chang,Seong Rok 한국산업안전학회 2001 한국안전학회지 Vol.16 No.5

The twisted posture has been found to be significantly associated with back pain and several types of low back pain. This study was performed to provide information relating to the twisted posture, i.e. psychophysical load handling capacity during asymmetric lifting without trunk flexion. Ten right-handed male subjects performed isometric maximum efforts at 0-90 degree at intervals of 10 degrees of preset trunk twisting angles in both the clockwise and counterclockwise directions. The results from the statistical analysis showed significant differences according to direction and angle of action, and no interaction between two variables. Mean of maximum voluntary contraction(MVC) in the counterclockwise direction was 8% higher than that in the clockwise direction. And MVC was decreased linearly according as asymmetric angle was increased.

들기작업 시 몸통각도와 상완각도가 작업부담에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

장성록 ( Seong Rok Chang ),박형구 ( Hyung Gu Park ) 한국안전학회 2009 한국안전학회지 Vol.24 No.4

It is well-known that lifting capacity of a worker is influenced by body posture during the task. When a task analyst make use of RULA and REBA Trunk and upper arm angles are recorded in a separate item. It means that the interaction between the angles of two body segments may be ignored in a final score. The NLE(NIOSH Lifting Equation) has been used to supplement this problem. However, there is no study to validate the result of RWL (Recommended Workload Limit) under the existence of interactions between trunk and upper arm angles. The goal of this study was to assess the effect of the interaction between trunk and upper arm angles. Three responses, including NMVC(normalized maximum voluntary contraction), RWL(Recommended Weight Limit) and subjective judgment in psychophysical method (Borg`s scale), were recorded according to the combinations of three trunk angles and nine upper arm angles. The results showed that lifting capacity is highly influenced by interaction of two body segments(trunk and upper arm). It means that the task workload has to be analyzed along with the interaction of trunk angles and upper arm angles when the task analyst assesses potential risk factors on the postures. This study may be able to be a fundamental study to develop an assessment method for lifting task analyses according to body postures.
