        The purpose of this study was to investigate the mental toughness of Taekwondo players and to suggest way of performance enhancement using Loehr's Psychological Performance Inventory. Subjects were 188 Taekwondo elite players. Each factor's mean and standard deviation of Mental Toughness were calculated, and ANOVA were used for statistical analyses of the difference of mean. The results are as follow;: 1. On the level of self-confidence, it shows that the man players is higher than the woman players (school career F=5.846, P<.05: sex distinction F=8.876, P<.01). 2. On the level of attention control, it shows that the woman players is higher than the man players (school career F=4.483, P<.05: sex distinction F=9.814, P<.01). 3. On the level of visual and imagery control, it shows that the man players is higher than the woman players (school career F=7.790, P<.01: sex distinction F=5.000. P<.05). 4. On the level of arousal control, motivation, positive energy and attitude control, it was not significant difference according to the sexual and school career.

        The characteristics of cement pastes and mortars containing zeolite A were investigated. The hydration of C₃S was a little restrained in cement pastes containing Zeolite A. The cement pastes containing zeolite A also exhibited that the formation of Ca(OH)₂ decreased and the amount of macropores increased with zeolite content. The strength of the mortar admixed zeolite A was lower than that of plain and decreased with zeolite content. These results would be related to the residual NaOH in the powder of zeolite A, which had influence on the cement hydration.

        한우, 칡소 및 제주 흑우 Calpain-Calpastatin 유전자 다양성

        The aim of study was to investigate genetic diversity for the calpain/calpastatin gene in three Hanwoo breeds [(Brown (n=62), Brindle (n=81) and Jeju Black (n=30)]. Random samples from three breeds of Hanwoo were selected and genotyped for the 7 SNPs of calpain/calpastatin using TaqMan method. Allele frequencies were investigated for CAPN1/CAST gene. Allele frequency of CAST2 SNP was 0.75, 0.59 and 0.22 for Brown, Brindle and Jeju black, respectively. The CAST3 revealed allele frequency of 0.59 and 0.57 in Brown and Jeju Black, while it showed very low allele frequency (0.07) in Brindle. In particular, favorable allele (G allele) for the CAPN1-2 SNP which was shown a strong association with tenderness in Taurine and Indicine cattle revealed 16% and 17% higher allele frequency in Brown Hanwoo (0.82) comparing Brindle (0.66) and Jeju Black Hanwoo (0.65). AMOVA demonstrated that among population variance occupied only 10% of total variance and among individual variance was 0%, while within individual variance was 90% of total variance. This result showed that population effect contributed very small portion of genetic to these three Hanwoo breeds, while within individual variance contributed large portion of genetic diversity within these Hanwoo breeds. In conclusion, three Hanwoo breeds (Brown, Brindle and Jeju black) showed a genetically homogeneous based on the 7 SNPs of CAPN1/CAST gene and it came from same ancestor to form modern Hanwoo breed.

        기존의 의류 제작 공정에 있어 대량 생산에 들어가기 전, 제품의 원형을 제작하는 단계는 매우 빈번한 실패를 동반하는 과정이다. 원하는 디자인으로 완성된 제품을 얻기 위해 수많은 시행착오를 거치게 되며, 이 과정에서 원단, 자재, 인력이 지속적으로 투입되고 그 결과 비용, 혹은 일정 상의 손실을 초래하기도 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 의류 원형 제작 과정을 실제 옷을 만들어보는 것이 아닌, 컴퓨터의 3D 환경 안에서 가상의 옷을 만들고 시뮬레이션 하여 가상의 모델에 입혀보는 것으로 대체하는 방법을 제안한다. 이 과정에서 그간 컴퓨터 그래픽스 분야를 중심으로 발전해왔던 의류 시뮬레이션 기술을 적극 도입, 활용한다. 그리고 이러한 과정을 거쳐 만들어진 3D 의류가 실제 의류 원형과 어느 정도 일치하는지를 비교분석 함으로써 이 기술이 의류 생산 과정에 적용가능한지를 검증한다. In garment manufacturing process, making a prototype of a product is a preceding part ahead of mass production. However, it takes up a lot of trial and error, let alone the expense in the past manufacturing system. In this paper we introduce the process which can replace the past one with using recently developed computer graphics technique. We also demonstrate this method is valid on a variety of clothes compared to the real experiments. In this process, a designer can make a garment, simulate it in 3D computer system, and easily fix the problems before finalizing a prototype.

        Gene expression analysis of 46 cancer associated genes by high throughput real-time qPCR in canine: Facilitate the biomarker identification

        The prevalence of cancer in companion dogs is growing nowadays with the increasing worldwide population of domestic dogs. Since there is a less established standard of care in veterinary medicine, investigational treatments, such as the development of biomarkers can be considered as a therapeutic intervention for early diagnosis. Despite the enormous efforts that have been invested in the search of biomarkers, still, there is a need for easy detection of significant biological markers for predicting canine cancers at an early stage. In this study, we have analyzed the expression pattern of previously reported 46 canine cancer-associated candidate genes in blood specimens using real-time qPCR. We hypothesized that analysis of gene expression in blood would provide preliminary evidence of local or systemic immunogenic response which further contribute to the easy and early diagnosis of canine cancer from blood specimen as an analytical tool. The datasets included a total of 22 blood samples collected from different breeds of dogs diagnosed with cancer and five from healthy normal dogs. RT-qPCR analysis was performed by employing the SYBR Green PCR mix to assess the expression of these 46 genes in a total of 27 samples. From our result, a total of nine genes (ROS1, C1QA, CD48, IL1b, TLR2, IL2R, CHI3L1, CTSS, and TLR7) were found to be significantly up-regulated (p < 0.05 and p < 0.01) in the cancer samples compared to non-cancer samples. The relative expression level of ROS1, C1QA, CD48, IL1b, TLR2, IL2R, CHI3L1, CTSS, and TLR7 genes was 5.74, 4.78, 3.94, 2.94, 2.57, 2.53, 2.50, 2.04, and 2.57, respectively, in cancer samples compared to non-cancer samples. Thus, our results reveal several highly expressed cancer genes that can be therapeutic target genes for further testing in canine cancers.

        Insulin Sensitizing and Insulinotropic Action of Berberine from <i>Cortidis Rhizoma</i>

        <P>Our preliminary study demonstrated that 70% ethanol <I>Cortidis Rhizoma</I> extracts (CR) had a hypoglycemic action in diabetic animal models. We determined whether CR fractions acted as anti-diabetic agent, and a subsequent investigation of the action mechanism of the major compound, berberine ([C<SUB>20</SUB>H<SUB>18</SUB>NO<SUB>4</SUB>]<SUP>+</SUP>), was carried out <I>in vitro</I>. The 20, 40 and 60% methanol fractions from the XAD-4 column contained the most insulin sensitizing activities in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. The common major peak in these fractions was berberine. Treatment with 50 μ<SMALL>M</SMALL> berberine plus differentiation inducers significantly reduced triglyceride accumulation by decreased differentiation of 3T3-L1 fibroblasts to adipocytes and triglyceride synthesis. Significant insulin sensitizing activity was observed in 3T3-L1 adipocytes which were given 50 μ<SMALL>M</SMALL> berberine plus 0.2 n<SMALL>M</SMALL> insulin to reach a glucose uptake level increased by 10 n<SMALL>M</SMALL> of insulin alone. This was associated with increased glucose transporter-4 translocation into the plasma membrane <I>via</I> enhancing insulin signaling pathways and the insulin receptor substrate-1-phosphoinositide 3 Kinase-Akt. Berberine also increased glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and proliferation in Min6 cells <I>via</I> an enhanced insulin/insulin-like growth factor-1 signaling cascade. Data suggested that berberine can act as an effective insulin sensitizing and insulinotropic agent. Therefore, berberine can be used as anti-diabetic agent for obese diabetic patients.</P>

        Interregional synaptic maps among engram cells underlie memory formation

        <P>Memory resides in engram cells distributed across the brain. However, the site-specific substrate within these engram cells remains theoretical, even though it is generally accepted that synaptic plasticity encodes memories. We developed the dual-eGRASP (green fluorescent protein reconstitution across synaptic partners) technique to examine synapses between engram cells to identify the specific neuronal site for memory storage. We found an increased number and size of spines on CA1 engram cells receiving input from CA3 engram cells. In contextual fear conditioning, this enhanced connectivity between engram cells encoded memory strength. CA3 engram to CA1 engram projections strongly occluded long-term potentiation. These results indicate that enhanced structural and functional connectivity between engram cells across two directly connected brain regions forms the synaptic correlate for memory formation.</P>

        The Study on the Efficient HVDC Capacity Considering Extremely Low Probability of 765kV Double Circuit Transmission Lines Trip

        The load on the power grid of South Korea is expected to grow continuously until the late 2020s, and it is necessary to increase the transfer capacity from the Eastern grid to the Seoul-Gyeonggi region by reinforcing the transmission network for the electric power system to remain stable. To this end, the grid reinforcement by two bipole LCC HVDC transmission systems have been considered on account of the public acceptability and high growth of the fault current level, even though an additional 765kV system construction is more economical. Since the probability of the existing 765kV double circuit transmission line trip is extremely low, a dynamic simulation study was carried out to estimate the efficient HVDC capacity able to stabilize the transient stability by utilizing the HVDC overload capability. This paper suggests the application plan to reduce the HVDC construction capacity with ensuring the transient stability during the 765kV line trip.

        Synthesis of Novel Organic Dyes Containing Coumarin Moiety for Solar Cell

        Novel organic dyes, JK-34, JK-35 and JK-36 containing bis-dimethylfluorenyl amino coumarin unit are designed and synthesized. Nanocrystalline TiO2 dye-sensitized solar cells were fabricated using these dyes. Under standard global AM 1.5 solar condition, the JK-34 sensitized cell gave a short circuit photocurrent density of 10.05 mA cm?2, open circuit voltage of 0.65 V, and a fill factor of 0.68, corresponding to an overall conversion efficiency η of 4.54%. We found that the power conversion efficiency was shown to be quite sensitive to the structural modifications of bridging thiophene moiety.
