The purpose of this study was to analyze on the morphological characteristics of elite fencing players. In this study, 32 male fencing players completed the measurement of 39 anthropometric variables. To assess of the differences between elite fencing player and non-elite fencing players' morphological characteristics, discriminant test and morphological analysis were used. The results of this study were follows. There were no statistical differences in all the morphological characteristics between elite player and non-elite players in length variables except length variables. In conclusion, elite and non-elite players of fencing become most discriminant by length variables.

The purpose of this study is to investigate on sports injures and performance in combat sports events. For the purpose, in the study 239 subject(boxing 50, taekwundo 54, wrestling 41, fencing 54, judo 40) completed the questionnaire for sports injures and performance in combat sports events. It was divided sports player's performance into high performance elite level and low performance elite level. To assess of the distribution in high performance elite level and low performance elite level player's injures pattern, it was used cross table and percentile scores by SPSS version 11.0 for Windows. The result was follow that: There was different pattern in sports injures by combat sports event. And there was different pattern in sports performance in high performance elite leve and low performance elite level players.

Two young men were seen with nausea, vomiting, dermatitis, seizure after two-four days of occupational exposure to caprolactam, a nylon fiber precursor. There were no significant results in laboratory test, brain CT, FEG except leukocytosis, hyperglycemia. Caprolactam has been shown to induce convulsive disorder in experimental animal studies and Tuma et al(1981) described that one worker acutely exposed to caprolactam developed generalized tonic-clonic seizure with leukocytosis. The coincidence of typical skin lesion with otherwise unexplained generalized tonic-clonic seizure in those young men strongly suggests that caprolactam was causal agent.

To investigate the structure-antagonistic relationship of the cyclohexapeptide L-659,877, a selective NK-2 tachykinin receptor antagonist, seven analogues were chemically synthesized by a solid phase method. The agonistic and antagonistic activities of the analogues were evaluated by contraction assay using the smooth muscle of guinea pig trachea (GPT) containing the NK-2 receptor. It was shown that the aromatic ring of Phe at position 3 and the sulfur group of Met at position 6 in L-659,877 were essential for binding to the NK-2 receptor. Decrease in antagonistic activity of L-659,877 caused by substituting Leu for Nle at position 5 indicates that the γ methyl group and side chain length of Leu plays an important role in its antagonistic action. Although the activity was slightly lower than L-659,877, cyclo [βAla^8]NKA(4-10) (analogue 1) showed potential antagonistic activity for the NK-2 receptor. It was confirmed that the expansion of the ring in L-659,877 by substitution of βAla for Gly at position 4 stabilized its conformation monitored by CD spectra. The results suggest that analogue 1 can be used as a new leader compound to design a more powerful, selective, and stable NK-2 receptor antagonist.
인삼 사포닌이 일산화탄소중독 및 노화과정에서 흰쥐의 뇌에너지 대사물 함량 변화에 미치는 영향

This study was performed to investigate the effects of ginseng saponins on the cerebral energy metalbolite's contents influenced by carbon monoxide(CO) intoxication. Each experimental group was divided young (5~8 weeks) and aged (43~52 weeks) rats, and they were exposed at 5,000 ppm CO(72% HbCO) for 30 min. One of the other groups was pretreated with ginseng saponins for 5 days before CO intoxication. The contents of cerebral energy metabolites in cerebral cortex, stratum and hypothalamus were measured. In cerebral cortex of both young and aged rats, the levels of ATP and creatine phosphate were significantly decreased, while those of lactate were significantly increased. There was no difference between the levels of cerebral energy metabolites of young and aged rats. Pretreatment of ginseng saponins before CO intoxication lowered decrease of the levels of cerebral energy metabolites and ATP levels were significantly recovered. On the other hands, contents of lactate in stratum and hypothalamus of young rats were significantly increased and the levels of ATP and creatine phosphate in stratum and hypothalamus were completely recovered at 2 weeks after CO intoxication. The results suggest that ginseng saponins have an ameliorating action against disturbance of the cerebral energy metabolites by CO intoxication.
