        울람 나선형 광 구조에서의 고감도 임계 모드에 대한 연구

        We investigate numerically the properties of the critically localized mode in a 2D deterministic aperiodic structure generated from an Ulam spiral sequence based on a prime number by computing the quality factor and the density of states. The critically localized mode provides enhanced sensitivity, because of which the structure may have a potential for application to an optical sensor. By computing the mode size, we confirm that the mode is the critical mode at a certain resonance wavelength and demonstrate that in the resonance mode, a high sensitivity of 345 nm/RIU can be obtained in the 2D deterministic aperiodic structure of the Ulam spiral sequence when we change the refractive index of the surrounding medium to about 0.002. 우리는 수학적인 소수에 기초한 울람 나선형 순서의 2차원 규칙적인 비주기 구조로부터 광학적 품위계수와 상태밀도를 전산모사를 통해 계산하고 높은 품위계수를 가지는 임계 국소모드의 특성을 조사하였다. 이러한 임계 국소 모드는 광학적 센서의 설계 혹은 제작에 적합하게 적용될 수 있는 가능성을 보여주는 높은 감도를 가진다. 우리는 울람 나선형 순서를 이용해서 만들어진 2차원 규칙적인 비주기 구조에서 특정한 공진 파장에서의 모드의 크기를 계산함으로써 임계모드임을 확인하였고 그 공진 모드에서 주변 굴절률을 약 0.002만큼 변화시켰을 때에 감도가 345 nm/RIU 로써 매우 높은 감도를 가지는 것을 전산 모사하여 입증하였다.

        ESL Students' Attitudes toward Tasks in Second Life

        This study investigated ESL students' attitudes in completing tasks in Second Life, a virtual environment where students interacted via voice-chat using their avatars. Students engaged in three types of tasks during four 45-minute lab sessions. Students of 34 high and low-intermediate ESL classes participated in two surveys during and after the task sessions. 15 students were interviewed after they had finished the last lab session. Researcher's observations were also used as data source. Overall, low-intermediate students had a more positive attitude toward Second Life than high-intermediate students as the lab session went by. For low-intermediate students, using avatars was interesting because it did not require much English proficiency, and they had control to manipulate these functions. However, for high-intermediate students, who were more focused on task completion, the novelty effect of using avatars disappeared. Because they already had enough English proficiency to complete the tasks, using avatars or other affordances of Second Life became annoying factors that did not contribute to task completion. Moreover, technical troubleshooting and clear instruction were raised as prerequisites for better communication in Second Life. Task difficulty also affected students' motivation.

        외상성 구획증후군의 감압술 후 잔여 증상에 대한 치료 1례

        Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report on the residual symptoms after decompression of traumatic compartment syndrome experienced by a patient whose condition was much improved by electroacupuncture and bee venom therapy. Methods : The patient was treated with electroacupuncture and bee venom therapy. The progress of symptoms was checked by visual analog scale, disabilities of the arm, shoulder, and hand(DASH) and range of motion. Results : All results were improved. Scores from the visual analog scale and DASH decreased, while the range of motion increased. Conclusions : Electroacupuncture and bee venom therapy have an effect on residual symptoms after decompression of traumatic compartment syndrome.

        급성 외상성 어깨 통증 환자에 대한 중성어혈약침과 전침의 효과에 관한 비교 연구

        Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Jungsongouhyul phamacopuncture and electroacupuncture on patients with acute traumatic shoulder pain. Methods : The patients with acute traumatic shoulder pain were diagnosed by blood stasis and divided two groups. One group was treated byJungsongouhyul phamacopuncture. The other group was treated by electroacupuncture. Each group was treated 3 times a week for 2 weeks. The results were measured by visual analog scale(VAS), range of abduction and internal rotation. Results : Two groups had no significant differences before treatment. Jungsongouhyul phamacopuncture group had effects on VAS, range of abduction and internal rotation significantly. Electroacupuncture group also had effects on VAS, range of abduction and internal rotation significantly. But there was no significant differences between two groups. Conclusions : Jungsongouhyul phamacopuncture and electroacupuncture have effect on patients with acute traumatic shoulder pain significantly.

        연소식 灸치료와 전자식 灸치료의 선호도에 대한 비교연구

        Objectives : The purpose of this study is reporting to compare the preference of combustible moxibustion and electronic moxibustion. Methods : 31 patients were treated by combustible moxibustion in the morning and electronic moxibustion in the afternoon for 1 day. After they were treated by each moxibustions treatment, filled out questionnaire. We repeated the above process for 3 days. And we analyzed questionnaire statistically. Results : Heat sensitivity of electronic moxibustion has statistical significance. Sex and age have no statistical significances. Heat sensitivity and persistency of combustible moxibustion, heat persistency of electronic moxibustion also have no statistical significances. Satisfaction and smoke of moxibustion have correlation to moxibustion preference. Conclusions : Heat sensitivity of electronic moxibustion, satisfaction and smoke of moxibustion have correlation to moxibustion preference.

        Beliefs about Language Learning: A Study of American University Students Learning Korean

        This study investigated Korean as a Foreign Language (KFL) students’beliefs about language learning in three levels of Korean classes. Sixtythree students participated in this study, and the Beliefs About Language Learning Instrument (BALLI) by Horwitz (1987) was used to ask students’beliefs about language learning. Descriptive analysis yielded that most of the students had positive beliefs about learning Korean or foreign languages. They were highly motivated, and they thought that Korean is a useful language. However, ANOVA yielded no significant differences among the three levels of students, and there were no correlations between beliefs and final grades, and between beliefs and language levels. Such implications for instructors as teaching strategy use and motivating students to have specific goals were discussed.

        Language Learners’ Strategy Use and Self-Efficacy: Korean Heritage Learners Versus Non-Heritage Learners

        In recent decades, language learners’ strategy use and self-efficacy have been an important research topic for many researchers in second language acquisition as they are related to students’ success of learning a target language. To expand the discussion, this study investigated 92 Korean language learners’ strategy use and self-efficacy and their relations to achievement. The data were analysed based on learner groups -heritage learners (n = 40) and non-heritage learners (n = 52)- in order to explore differences between the two groups. A survey with 78 items for strategy use and self-efficacy was distributed at the end of the semester, and final grades were used to measure achievement. The results indicated that the students, overall, were moderate strategy users, and non-heritage students (M = 2.82) tended to use strategies more often than heritage students (M = 2.42), with significant differences. By achievement, the high-achievement students used the strategies the most frequently, followed by the low-achievement group and the mid-achievement group. Moreover, the ranking of frequently used strategy categories was different depending on the learner groups and achievement levels. Regarding self-efficacy, heritage students (M = 3.35) showed higher self-efficacy than non-heritage students (M = 2.83), with statistically significant differences. The high-achievement group also showed higher self-efficacy than the mid-achievement and low-achievement group. Regarding the correlations, there were statistically significant positive relations among strategy use, self-efficacy, and achievement, especially with non-heritage students. Issues such as effective use of strategies rather than frequency and cultural background were discussed.
