In this paper, we propose a suitable multiplication architecture for cellular automata in a finite field GF(2m). Proposed least significant bit first multiplier is based on irreducible all one polynomial, and has a latency of (m+1) and a critical path of (1-DAND+1-DXOR). Specially it is efficient for implementing VLSI architecture and has potential for use as a basic architecture for division, exponentiation and inverses since it is a parallel structure with regularity and modularity. Moreover our architecture can be used as a basic architecture for well-known public-key information service in GF(2m) such as Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol, Digital Signature Algorithm and ElGamal cryptosystem.

In this study, an investigation was conducted on the features, events, and processes (FEP) that could impact the long-term safety of the natural barriers constituting high-level radioactive waste geological repositories. The FEP list was developed utilizing the IFEP list 3.0 provided by the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) as foundational data, supplemented by geological investigations and research findings from leading countries in this field. A total of 49 FEPs related to the performance of the natural barrier were identified. For each FEP, detailed definitions, classifications, impacts on long-term safety, significance in domestic conditions, and feasibility of quantification were provided. Moreover, based on the compiled FEP list, three scenarios that could affect the long-term safety of the disposal facility were developed. Geological factors affecting the performance of the natural barrier in each scenario were selected and their relationships were visualized. The constructed FEP list and the visualization of interrelated factors in various scenarios are anticipated to provide essential information for selecting and organizing factors that must be considered in the development of mathematical models for quantitatively evaluating the long-term safety of deep geological repositories. In addition, these findings could be effectively utilized in establishing criteria related to the key performance of natural barriers for the confirmation of repository sites.

Gravitational waves are predicted by the Einstein's theory of General Relativity. The direct detection of gravitational waves is one of the most challenging tasks in modern science and engineering due to the 'weak' nature of gravity. Recent development of the laser interferometer technology, however, makes it possible to build a detector on Earth that is sensitive up to 100-1000 Mpc for strong sources. It implies an expected detection rate of neutron star mergers, which are one of the most important targets for ground-based detectors, ranges between a few to a few hundred per year. Therefore, we expect that the gravitational-wave observation will be routine within several years. Strongest gravitational-wave sources include tight binaries composed of compact objects, supernova explosions, gamma-ray bursts, mergers of supermassive black holes, etc. Together with the electromagnetic waves, the gravitational wave observation will allow us to explore the most exotic nature of astrophysical objects as well as the very early evolution of the universe. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the theory of gravitational waves, principles of detections, gravitational-wave detectors, astrophysical sources of gravitational waves, and future prospects.

Gravitational waves were nearly simultaneously detected directly for the first time on September 14, 2015, by two Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) detectors, one located at Livingston, Louisiana and the other at Hanford, Washington, USA. Careful analysis revealed that this signal was produced during the last moments of an inspiral and merger of two black holes that had been orbiting each other for a long time. Astronomers will be able to learn about the natures and the origins of such exotic objects by analyzing more gravitational-wave-emitting events as the sensitivity of the detector increases. This article provides a very brief overview of the nature of gravitational waves, the detection principles, and the outlook for gravitational wave science.
