This paper is derived from a survey research project investigating consumer attitudes towards organic food as the farm animal welfare. Presents focus group results on consumer perceptions, attitudes and recognition about farm animal welfare. We are aimed to conduct the survey research to evaluate the consumer's perception and demands of the farm animal welfare. We deals with the findings obtained from extensive interviews with a representative samples. The objectives of interviews included 20~60 year-old ages lived in Yongin, Anyang, Gunpo, Ansan, Seosan, Dangjin, Iksan and Jeonju city. Questions focused on how people were recognized the need and policies of farm animal welfare. Questionnaire and technical data are analysed and summarized. As the results of the survey research, the objectives of interviews had poorly understood about the policies of farm animal welfare. Conclusionally, the promotions of farm animal welfare policies were need. The development of farm animal welfare policies were desirable for the establishment of animal welfare.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of carbonization residues of sewage sludge (CRSS) on the reductions of heavy metals and dioxins in leachates discharged from municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills. With the experiments, such as the base experiments to survey the physicochemical characteristics, and batch and continuous experiments to investigate the leaching characteristics of pollutants, the well-carbonized residue showed higher adsorption/reduction capacity than that partly-carbonized and covering soil. Finally, it would be expected that the use of CRSS as a covering soil would have a good effect on improving the leachate quality.
The expanded landscape of metalloproteins by genetic incorporation of noncanonical amino acids

Proteins are versatile macromolecules whose sequence space and chemical scope can be expanded infinitely. A chemical toolbox other than the 20 canonical amino acids can further diversify protein structure and function. Indeed, genetic code expansion to incorporate noncanonical amino acids (ncAAs) has extensively flourished metalloproteins in various aspects. This review focuses on artificial metalloproteins and metalloenzymes built using ncAAs, which operate directly as metal-ligating ligands, modulate the chemical properties of metallocofactors within unique secondary coordinating microenvironments, or provide unique functions. As a result, self-assembled protein architectures or novel catalytic activities have been created, showing the expanded landscape of metallopro- teins. We also discuss potential prospects for ncAAs and their future applications in the design of protein-based biomaterials and biocatalysts.
