Objective: Despite the rapid increase in the number of people with dementia in Korea, there is lack of system applying assistive technology(AT) to people with dementia, unlike developed countries. Thus, this study aims to introduce the AT related to helping people with dementia living in the community. Method: Authors reviewed literature relevant to AT for people with dementia. The literature includes research articles, review articles, guidelines, reports and government document written in English. Results: It is found that various AT items have been developed and applied to people with dementia systematically in developed countries. These products help users to stay at their place independently and safely. Developed countries have established guidelines and systems to apply AT for people with dementia and their family. Thus, as taking these advantage from literature, it will be possible that AT system for people with dementia is implemented in Korea by conducting to relevant research and developing the service provision.
액션 러닝을 활용한 개요 글쓰기 수업 효과 연구 - 성찰 저널 및 강의평가를 중심으로 -

본 사례연구는 신입 대학생 1학년을 대상으로 기초적인 글쓰기를 가르치는 ‘글로컬사고와 표현’과목에 15주 중 4주간 액션 러닝을 적용하여 그 효과를 분석하고 효율적인 액션 러닝 진행 방법을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 강의는 비대면 상황이므로 ZOOM과 jamboard를 이용하여 온라인 실시간 수업으로 액션 러닝을 진행하였다. 중간고사 이후 13주 차를 제외하고 11 주 차부터 15주 차에 걸쳐 액션 러닝을 적용한 팀 활동을 진행하고 매주 성찰저널을 쓰고 제출하도록 하여 팀 활동에 대한 반성과 성찰이 이루어지도록하였다. 그 결과, 활동을 할수록 적극적인 참여가 이루어졌고 팀원 모두가 만족하는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 특히, 성찰저널을 분석한 결과 액션 러닝을 적용한 팀 활동을 통해 학생의 글쓰기 역량이 좋아짐은 물론 말하기와 대인관계역시 좋아졌음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 비대면 수업을 대비한 효과적인 교수 방법으로써조금이나마 검증이 되었다고 판단되며 많은 교수자와 공유하여 더 나은 방향으로 개선해 나갈 예정이다. The purpose of this case study was to analyze the effect of applying action learning for 4 weeks out of 15 weeks to the subject of ‘Glocal Thinking and Expression’ in which freshmen mainly learned basic writing skills. Since it was a non-face-to-face situation due to the spread of Covid-19, the action learning had been conducted as an online real-time non-face-to-face class using ZOOM and Jamboard. From the 11th week after the midterm exam, team activities that applied action learning were conducted. The students were required to write reflection journals every week in order that reflection on team activities were made. It was observed that active participation had been achieved with each activity, and all team members were able to obtain satisfactory results. As a result of analyzing the reflection journal, in particular, it was found that the writing skills of students had been improved, as well as their speaking skills and interpersonal relationships, through team activities that applied action learning. The results of this study are judged to have been verified as an effective teaching method for non-face-to-face classes. Since this method leaves room for further improvement, I will share the results with other instructors.

Background: The presence of porcine endogenous retrovirus (PERV) has been considered as one of the main hurdles to transplant pig’s organs or tissues to human beings. There has been no report that PERV infection is associated with human diseases. Because pigs have their own characteristics of PERV according to pig strain,it is necessary to analyze the infectivity of PERV from SNU miniature pig to human cells for future utilization as a transplantation donor. Materials and Methods: Human cell lines were infected with culture supernatant from porcine cell line or immunomodulator-stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of SNU miniature pigs. They were also co-cultured with PBMC or islet cells of SNU miniature pigs. The presence of PERV genes and general pig marker gene in cells was determined by nested PCR with primer set for PERV pol and pig mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase II (COII), respectively. Results: Infection test with the culture supernatant from PBMC of SNU miniature pigs showed that PERV pol but not COII was detected only in a few cases, but there was no uniform infection pattern in scope of stimulators and cell types. PERV pol was not demonstrated in co-cultures of human cell line with PBMC or islet cells from SNU miniature pigs after 80 days of co-cultures. Conclusions: In vitro infectivity test suggests that PERV from SNU miniature pig might not replicate productively in human cell lines although it could infect human cells and integrate into chromosome.
