일본군 ‘위안부’ 문제와 글로벌 페미니즘의 정치학

The purpose of this research was to explore the implication of global feminist politics of Japanese women’s movement weighed through their solidarity experiences in ‘Asian Solidarity Conference for the Issue of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan’. For the object of the research, this research used the oral materials conducted depth interviews with Japanese women activists acted in ‘Asian Solidarity Conference for the Issue of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan’. An important result of this research showed that the global feminist politics of Japanese women’s activism practiced in ‘Asian Solidarity Conference for the Issue of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan’ worked in intermixed ways with nationalism. Namely global feminist activism of Japanese Women embedded in the ‘progressive’ nationalism, but separated with Korean feminist nationalism tried to clarify the nature of ‘victimihood’ in the context of colonialism and Japanese nationalism of right-wing conservatives. Finally, this research allowed us to highlight its interconnectedness of nationalism and global feminism. That was nationalism did not disappear under global feminist politics in the era of globalization. Therefore a new kind of women’s transnational solidarity activism, called ‘global feminist politics’ was a hard project in East-Asia although the different participants shared compatible value system that could cut across differences in positioning and identities of colonized state and colonial ruling state.

1970, 80년대 시몬 드 보부아르의 페미니즘 활동과 사유에 대한 일 고찰

Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986)’s The Second Sex published in 1949, has had profound influence on feminist research and movements in France and around the world, and it is considered the “holy book” of modern feminism. However, Beauvoir herself said that she was not a feminist when she first wrote and published the book. She had long distanced herself from feminism and had not participated in any women’s organization in France since the book’s publication. Then, in 1965, she publicly declared herself a feminist, joined the French Women’s Liberation Movement(MLF) in the early 1970s, and more actively engaged in radical feminist activism until her death in 1986. Thus, this study analyzed Beauvoir before and after her “conversion” to feminism and the reason behind it. To this end, I examined The Second Sex and other texts (articles, lectures, prefaces, talks, etc.) written subsequently, through which I discerned the overall basis of Beauvoir’s feminist activities and thoughts in the 1970s and 1980s. Finally, among Beauvoir’s vigorous feminist activities, her position and thoughts on abortion issues and motherhood were examined through a study on the “Legalization Movement of Contraception and Abortion” in France, which became the starting point for her own struggle for women’s liberation. 1949년 출간된 시몬 드 보부아르(1908~1986)의 『제2의 성』은 프랑스를 비롯하여 전 세계적으로 페미니즘 연구와 운동에 지대한 영향을 끼쳐 현대 페미니즘의 ‘성전(聖 典)’으로 불리고 있다. 하지만 정작 보부아르 자신은 이 책의 집필과 출간 당시 자신이페미니스트가 아니었다고 밝히고 있다. 보부아르는 이 책 출간 이후 오랫동안 페미니즘과 거리를 두고 프랑스 내 어떤 여성단체에도 참가하지 않았다. 그러다가 1965년 공개적으로 자신이 페미니스트라 선언하고, 1970년대 초 프랑스 ‘여성해방운동(MLF)’에 합류하여 1986년 타계 시까지 점점 더 적극적이고 급진적인 페미니즘 활동을 펼쳤다. 이에 본 연구에서는 우선 보부아르의 페미니즘으로의 “전향” 이유를 전향 이전과 이후의 2단계에 걸쳐 연구하였다. 이를 위해 『제2의 성』과 이 책 이후에 쓰인, 여성문제에 대한 보부아르의 사유, 성찰, 입장이 담긴 텍스트(아티클, 강연, 서문, 대담 등)를 분석하였고, 이를 통해 1970, 80년대 보부아르의 페미니즘 활동과 사유에 대한 전반적인 기조를 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 보부아르의 왕성한 페미니즘 활동 가운데 그녀의 여성해방 투쟁의 기점이 된 프랑스 내 ‘피임·낙태 합법화 운동’ 연구를 통해 ‘낙태 문제 및 모성’에 대한 보부아르의 입장과 사유를 고찰하였다.

일본여성운동의 초국적 페미니즘과 민족주의

이 연구는 동아시아 여성연대 사례인 아시아연대회의에서 실천된 일본여성운동이 지닌 민족주의의 다중적 정치학을 이들과 20여년간 연대한 한국여성의 운동경험을 통해 탐색하였다. 한국여성의 운동경험에 주목하여 탐색한 것은 1990년대 동아시아 여성연대에서 민족주의로부터 자유롭지 않다고 평가되는 한국여성과 일본여성이 일본군 ``위안부``문제를 갖고 20여년간 아시아연대회의에서 함께 연대하며 상호 민족주의적 태도와 성향에 대한 운동경험이 축적되어 있고, 이러한 운동경험은 동아시아 여성연대의 초국적 페미니스트 실천의 민족주의의 다중적 정치학을 구체적이며 입체적으로 탐색할 수 있는 보고로서 초국적 페미니즘 실천의 민족주의 쟁점을 동아시아 여성연대 경험을 통해서 조명할 수 있기 때문이다. 특별히 두 가지에 초점을 맞추었다. 하나는 민족주의와 관련하여 아시아연대회의에서 실천된 일본여성운동에 대하여 한국여성은 어떤 의미로 경험하였는지, 또 하나는 일본여성운동의 민족주의가 동아시아 여성연대를 추동해온 힘으로 작용하였는지 동시에 동아시아 여성연대를 제약한 한계는 무엇인지 고찰하였다. This research tries to explore for the nationalism of Japanese women``s transnational feminist activism weighed through Korean women``s solidarity experiences in East-Asian women``s solidarity. For the object of the research, this article focuses on the ``Asian Solidarity Conference for the Issue of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan`` and uses written materials such as statements of Japanese women involved at the ``Asian Solidarity Conference for the Issue of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan`` and oral materials conducted depth interviews with Korean activists acted with them. An important result of this research shows that the nationalism of Japanese women``s transnational feminist activism practiced at the ``Asian Solidarity Conference for the Issue of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan`` works in multiple ways. And a new kind of transnational feminist politics, called ``transversal politics`` is a hard project in East-Asian women``s transnational solidarity activism although the different participants share compatible value system that can cut across differences in positionings and identities.

Finding the Research Possibilities of Computer Technologies in Art Education

The purpose of this study is to try finding the research possibilities of computer technology in art education and understand why computer technology has such a great impact on our contemporary education. The methodology of this study is based on the analysis of literature review. I have tried to find the importance articles in the journals of art education such as Studies in Art Education and Art Education published from the National Art Education Association, one of the most well-known organizations in the field of art education. To draw the purpose of this study, I found articles and categorized the information using key words such as aesthetic, feminist, gender issues, and interactivity. After analyzing, I have discussed about the research possibilities and important issues of computer technology in art education and then categorized the information found in each article into four different subheadings: 1) the visual effects of computer graphics in art education, 2) gender issues based on the computer technology, 3) interactive multimedia and social interactions among students, 4) research possibilities with computer technologies in art education. The findings are as follow. Firstly, there were many research possibilities of computer technologies in art education such as ways of criticizing the contemporary art world. Secondly, I found that computer technology has a great impact on art education because students are more eager to engage with computer technologiesbased media activities and very familiar with new media either at home and school. Therefore, we, as educators, must address how the student will be systematically engaged with computer technologies in their educational environment and should determine what knowledge and skills prospective teachers bring to our teacher education programs and how and where they acquired this knowledge.

불교수행론과 젠더문제

  The basic problem of theoretical dispute among the contemporary feminists is whether the femininity different from maleness exists as nature or not. Some feminists argue that woman equals man, so feminity is not exist. But others criticize that opinion, and say that because woman are different from man distinctly, the liberation of woman means that the world of woman is separated from that of man.<BR>  In reference to this controversy, I present the view of woman based on the praj?? and the up?ya which are in pairs of the Mah?y?na thought.<BR>  According to the sight of praj??, there is no substance in woman. And according to the vision of up?ya, the characteristic experience of woman will be the meanings of way that save women. In addition, the bodhisattva"s practice will keep balance of these two sights.<BR>  I interpret gender trouble as suffering in the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism. So feminism represents the fourth Noble Truth, namely the path, and is defined as the bodhisattva"s practice of the recent times in this paper.<BR>  In the third chapter, I investigate the theory of Buddhist practice with feminists point of view. In the first place, the discourse on woman"s practice is analyzed critically.<BR>  The dualism in the doctrine of buddhist practice reveals another obstacle to solve gender issues through the buddhist practice. The doctrine includes dualistic composition, that is, feelings/wisdom, body/mind, statement/silence. Moreover, these elements constitute the hierarchical frame.<BR>  Zen buddhism is appreciated that has dissolved the established discourse of buddhist practice. Therefore, we can find the possibility of breaking down the conventional notion from the tradition of zen buddhism. But, in spite of usefulness like this, because zen buddhism has formed androcentric lineage, this problem remains to be solved for feminist buddhism.<BR>  Feelings, body, and statement are thought to play important roles in the practice of feminist buddhism which aims to solve the suffering of suppressed women, but we must not allow the idea that these elements belong to the female nature.<BR>  Nevertheless, it is expected that new discourse contains these elements will transform the current theories of buddhist practice considerably.

Feminine Aspirations with the Real World of Men in George Eliot"s Middlemarch

  The story treats each individual"s vision as well as social reality that the author intends to describe. The purpose of this article is to search for the conflict between vision and reality, especially in feminist problem that critics have treated on the works of women writers. Though some articles have studied on the issue similar to this article, I try to analyze the narratives in the text that the author herself confesses to us. I think that we can find out clear messages from the individuals who construct the human relationship and build up their personal history through their dialogue or monologue. We can also catch their main problems in the community. I discuss the topic by mentioning the detailed discourses referred to the heroine and other characters in the text. The passages mentioned by the characters in the story may be a confession for the present and future generation that the author tries to confess. From the excerpts of some discourse, I can conclude that though Dorothea has a vision for her ideal, she is a failed feminist, for society is too strong for her as Miller (1990) argues.
