이승현 ( Seung Hyun Lee ),김응태 ( Eung Tai Kim ),성기정 ( Kie Jeong Seong ) 한국항공운항학회 2013 한국항공운항학회지 Vol.21 No.1
To have the competitiveness in the future worldwide small aircraft market, we should be able to develop the aircraft which is highly safe, easy to fly, and having excellent flight characteristics. FBW(Fly-By Wire) system is essential for the enhancement of flight safety and control easiness. FBW system that has been applied only to the modern fighter and transport aircraft is recently applied to smaller aircraft such as regional aircraft, business aircraft and even small aircraft. The purpose of this research includes the development of flight control computer, the definition of FBW system component, the design concept of each component for redundant management, OFP(Operational Flight Program) development, FBW system integration and HILS(Hardware In-the Loop Simulation) verification environment to test this FBW system.

Structural integrity evaluation is important item in the aircraft certification. Recently, it is designed for limit load, material weakness about fatigue and corrosion, damage by bird strike in flight to evaluate structural integrity of aircraft. And static/fatigue analysis are performed to secure structural integrity, it was verified by static and fatigue tests. To evaluate the structural integrity of small aircraft tail, structural integrity was calculated by the finite element analysis. In the present study, finite element analysis are performed to pick out load cases in flight occurrence, and secure margin of safety to evaluate structural integrity of KC-100 tail unit. The proprieties of finite element analysis results are compared with the static structure test results. The estimation process of structural integrity for small aircraft tail may help the design.

Meteorological information is essential for the safe operation of aircraft. Many organizations both at home and abroad provide meteorological services for small aircraft flying at a low altitude as a part of open public service and have performed relevant studies. Recently, such a service has been expanded to an online platform in order to deliver information more efficiently. The ultimate goal of this study is to improve the meteorological service for small low-altitude aircraft that mostly travel a short distance for a short time. To achieve this goal, this study considered requirements for developing an effective information delivery system and conducted a survey of user requirements to derive the necessary information that could be used to develop a real service.

Reciprocating engine is widely used for small propeller driven aircraft. because it is the superior efficiency and low price. Currently, reciprocating engine is used for the development of KC-100, LSA, PAV, UAV in domestic. In this study, ROTAX 912 series engine performance model is developed, Propeller performance model is designed and analyzed at cruise condition of LSA class aircraft. The results of the LSA class aircraft performance using Integrated Engine, propeller performance model showed that the Integrated propulsion performance model was evaluated to be properly constructed.

Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) is preparing Full-scale static & fatigue structure test for KC-100 small aircraft. Key subsystems of the testing system are test frame, loading system, counterbalance system, restraint (or positioning) system, etc.. It is planed for KARI to perform the static and fatigue test in serial. The static test will be performed first in March 2011. Design result on the the test frame, loading system at each component or subcomponent of test article is introduced and test conditions for the full-scale static test is introduced, and hydraulic cylinder and load cell selection for the test is also described in this paper.
