Trajectory analyses of uncontrolled circular parachutes in random spatial wind fields
Thanh Dong Pham,Anh Tuan Nguyen,Vu Dan Thanh Le,Trung Kien Nguyen 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.8
The present paper explores the trajectories of two uncontrolled circular parachute models which differ in size and mass in random spatial wind fields. The wind velocity components were generated through three-dimensional inverse fast Fourier transforms; and the correlations of the simulation data compared with the theoretical functions to confirm the accuracy of the wind model. The parachute systems are modelled as six-degrees-of-freedom rigid bodies, on which the aerodynamic forces and moments are applied. The dynamics model was validated before being used to study the drop trajectories of the parachute systems in spatial wind fields. Analyzing the drop trajectories and the impact point dispersion characteristics of the two parachute systems, the paper shows that the smaller one oscillates at a higher frequency and is affected more strongly by the wind. While descending at low altitude, there could be resonance between the dynamics of the larger parachute model and the wind turbulence. Moreover, it is found that the use of simplified vertical wind profiles, which include only the variation of the wind velocity against the altitude, may cause significant error in the simulation results.

Purpose: This research investigates the role of employee trust and job satisfaction in the relationship between organizational culture and employee loyalty. Design/methodology/approach: The study was conducted among 355 healthcare professionals working in a private healthcare system in southern cities of Vietnam, including doctors, nurses, and other medical staff. The research method employed was partial least squared structure equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software for data analysis. Findings: The findings indicate that organizational culture has a direct positive impact on employee loyalty and also affects employee trust and job satisfaction positively. Furthermore, employee trust and job satisfaction act as intermediaries and positively influence employee loyalty toward the organization. Research limitations/implications: The research acknowledges the limitation of the limited sample size and encourages further exploration of these relationships in other contexts. In addition, this study provides valuable insights for the management board of private healthcare organizations in southern cities of Vietnam on how to improve employee loyalty by cultivating a positive organizational culture, promoting employee trust, and enhancing job satisfaction. Originality/value: Overall, this research contributes significantly to the existing literature by examining the interplay between employee trust, organizational culture, job satisfaction, and employee loyalty.

Road network in the Mekong Delta is mostly coastal and river routes, then they are often flooded when the floods come in. As a result, the foundation and pavement are destroyed, reduced life expectancy, resulting in unsafety in traffic, cost of maintenance and repairs…. This paper establishes the technical conditions for the calculation on the flexible pavement working in the wet conditions (so flooded) based on the maximum usage of available materials in the provinces in the Mekong Delta. Simultaneously, we propose the flooded flexible pavement under the current climate change conditions.
Combined phototherapy in anti-cancer treatment: therapeutics design and perspectives
Tuan Hiep Tran,Raj Kumar Thapa,Hanh Thuy Nguyen,Tung Thanh Pham,Thiruganesh Ramasamy,김동식,용철순,김종오,최한곤 한국약제학회 2016 Journal of Pharmaceutical Investigation Vol.46 No.6
Photodynamic (PDT) and photothermal (PTT) therapy are proven effective strategies for the treatment of cancer. PDT, a photochemistry-based therapy, utilises light energy based photosensitiser for the production of cytotoxic species via electron transfer to biological substrates and potential excitation or energy transfer to molecular oxygen. On the other hand, PTT utilises substances that can convert light energy into heat for efficient tumour ablation. This review provides an insight into the current research investigations of different nanocarriers utilising the synergistic effects of PTT and PDT for anticancer therapy.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a novel surface modification technology to prolong the survival time of pancreatic islets in a xenogenic transplantation model, using 3,4–dihydroxyphenethylamine (DOPA) conjugated poly(lactide–co–glycolide)–poly(ethylene glycol) (PLGA–PEG) nanoparticles (DOPA–NPs) carrying immunosuppressant FK506 (FK506/DOPA–NPs). The functionalized DOPA–NPs formed a versatile coating layer for antigen camouflage without interfering the viability and functionality of islets. The coating layer effectively preserved the morphology and viability of islets in a co–culture condition with xenogenic lymphocytes for 7 days. Interestingly, the mean survival time of islets coated with FK506/DOPA–NPs was significantly higher as compared with that of islets coated with DOPA–NPs (without FK506) and control. This study demonstrated that the combination of surface camouflage and localized low dose of immunosuppressant could be an effective approach in prolonging the survival of transplanted islets. This newly developed platform might be useful for immobilizing various types of small molecules on therapeutic cells and biomaterial surface to improve the therapeutic efficacy in cell therapy and regenerative medicine.

Investigation of flexural behavior of a prestressed girder for bridges using nonproprietary UHPC
Pham, Hoa D.,Khuc, Tung,Nguyen, Tuan V.,Cu, Hung V.,Le, Danh B.,Trinh, Thanh P. Techno-Press 2020 Advances in concrete construction Vol.10 No.1
Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) is recognized as a promising material in future civil engineering projects due to its outstanding mechanical and durability properties. However, the lack of local UHPC materials and official standards, especially for prestressed UHPC structures, has limited the application of UHPC. In this research, a large-scale prestressed bridge girder composed of nonproprietary UHPC is produced and investigated. This work has two objectives to develop the mixing procedure required to create UHPC in large batches and to study the flexural behavior of the prestressed girder. The results demonstrate that a sizeable batch of UHPC can be produced by using a conventional concrete mixing system at any precast factory. In addition, incorporating local aggregates and using conventional mixing systems enables regional widespread use. The flexural behavior of a girder made by this UHPC is investigated including flexural strength, cracking pattern and development, load-deflection curve, and strain and neutral axis behaviors through a comprehensive bending test. The experimental data is similar to the theoretical results from analytical methods based on several standards and recommendations of UHPC design.
