An Eustoma grandiflorum APETALA1 (EgAP1) gene showing high homology to the SQUA subfamily of MADS-box genes was isolated and characterized. EgAP1, containing a conserved euAP1 motif at the C-terminus, showed high sequence identity to Antirrhinum majus SQUAMOSA in the SQUA subfamily. EgAP1 mRNA was detected in the leaf and expressed significantly higher in young flower buds than in mature flower buds. In flowers, EgAP1 mRNA was strongly detected in sepal, weakly detected in petal and was absent in stamen and carpel. Transgenic Arabidopsis plants ectopically expressing EgAP1 flowered early and produced terminal flowers. In addition, the conversion of petals into stamen-like structures was also observed in 35S::EgAP1 flowers. 35S::EgAP1 was able to complement the ap1 flower defects by restoring the defect for sepal formation and significantly increasing second whorl petal production in Arabidopsis ap1 mutant plants. These results revealed that EgAP1 is the APETALA1 homolog in E. grandiflorum and that the function of EgAP1 is involved in floral induction and flower formation.

With the aim of examining the effects of implementing international financial reporting standards (IFRS) on teaching accounting and auditing at universities and colleges in Vietnam, a case study was conducted at 30 universities, colleges, and 208 lecturers in Vietnam. Next, the study employed the structural model analysis method by PLS_SEM software to process and analyze the collected data. The research results show that: (1) There are eight factors that affect how IFRS is applied to teaching, including the training program, (ii) teaching staff, (iii) IFRS application regulations, (iv) related party requirements, (v) faculty/school administrators, (vi) teaching aids, (vii) IFRS teaching methods, and (iii) students; (2) there are three factors that affect the quality of teaching staff, including applying IFRS to teaching at the university and colleges, (ii) Regulations on the application of IFRS, (iii) Requirements from related parties. At the same time, the study also shows that, regarding the indirect relationships, applying IFRS to teaching does not play an intermediary role in these relationships. However, at the 10% significance level, it was found that there is an indirect relationship between regulations on the application of IFRS by the Ministry of Finance and the quality of teaching staff through the variable applying IFRS to teaching.
A Rapid Screening of Ligand Binding by Measuring Intrinsic Fluorescence Changes of Proteins
Tien Duc Nguyen,정광준,류주연,정제훈 대한화학회 2017 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.38 No.9
High-throughput analysis of genomic and proteomic information lead to large numbers of target molecules. The bottlenecks are generally subsequent verification steps, which require development of efficient screening tools. Protein–protein and protein–ligand interactions constitute the basis of most biological processes in living organisms. In general, proteins are labeled with fluorescent dyes to enhance sensitivities and the fluorescence changes are widely utilized for determining protein–protein and protein–ligand bindings. This study is to demonstrate that the intrinsic fluorescence of proteins by tryptophan and tyrosine and its change accompanied by ligand binding is sufficiently sensitive for studying protein–ligand interactions. Malate dehydrogenase catalyzes inter-conversion of oxaloacetate and NADH to malate and NAD+, respectively. Malate did not change the fluorescence of malate dehydrogenase. But, the dissociation constants (KD) for NADH and NAD+ could be measured by fluorescence changes and they are comparable to KM determined by enzyme kinetics. The high KD (1.5 mM) for oxaloacetate agreed well with the ordered Bi Bi mechanism of malate dehydrogenase, in which NADH bound first and generated a binding site for oxaloacetate. The dissociation constant for cyclic di-GMP to malate dehydrogenase was also determined by fluorescence changes and it was comparable to that collected from computational molecular docking analysis. The KD for cyclic di-GMP to methionine aminopeptidase, glycerol dehydrogenase, and peptidase B could also be determined by intrinsic fluorescence changes as 58, 58, 52 μM, respectively. These results suggest that the intrinsic fluorescence of proteins by tryptophan and tyrosine is sensitive enough to determine protein–ligand interactions. It provides a label-free, quick-and-easy tool for screening the ligands to proteins.
Stab-resistant Property of the Fabrics Woven with the Aramid/Cotton Core-spun Yarns
Tien, Duong Tu,Kim, Jong-S.,Huh, You 한국섬유공학회 2010 FIBERS AND POLYMERS Vol.11 No.3
Aramid fibers are mainly used for industrial applications and human body protection against ballistic threats. But they are used mostly in forms of composites. And fabrics woven with a high yarn count offer a moderate protection performance against the knife stabbing due to the low shear strength. This research is focused on investigating the effect of the aramid core-spun yarns on the stab resistance of the woven fabrics. With the aramid core-spun yarns with core to sheath weight ratio of 1 to 2.5 the armor specimens having different fabric densities were prepared and the knife edge impact test was conducted. On the impact energy of the knife at the level 1 according to the NIJ standard, the drop tower test results demonstrated that fabric density of the armor specimens affected the stab resistance significantly. The penetration depth of the impactor through the armor specimens was associated with the thickness and mass of the armor sample in different ways. Being the stab resistance introduced by considering the penetration depth of the impactor via thickness and weight per surface area, the effects of the fabric conditions on the anti-stabbing property could be systematically analyzed and turned out that there was an optimal level of the fabric density, showing the most effective stab resistance.
Ischemic Colitis Presented as Pseudomembranous Colitis: An Untypical Case from Vietnam
Tien Manh Huynh,Quang Dinh Le,Khanh Lan Nguyen Bui,Minh Quang Huynh Bui,Cong Minh Hong Vo,Duc Trong Quach 대한소화기학회 2022 대한소화기학회지 Vol.80 No.2
Ischemic colitis (IC) is an underreported chronic disease characterized by the hypoperfusion of the bowel mucosa. The diagnosis and treatment may be challenging because its clinical course resembles other colitis or even colorectal malignancies. This paper reports an untypical case to underline the diversity of IC manifestation. A 68-year-old man with several comorbidities was admitted because of abdominal pain with a 6-month duration and a mass in the left lower quadrant. Colonoscopy revealed erosive pseudomembranous colitis narrowed colon segments with ulcerated mucosa mimicking colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. The stool cultures and Clostridium difficile toxin tests were negative. After the failure of conservative therapy, the Hartmann procedure with temporary ileostomy was performed uneventfully. The histological results of the surgical specimens revealed IC with focal pseudomembranous areas.
