Decimal Tunneling Magnetoresistance States in Fe/GaAlAs/GaMnAs Magnetic Tunnel Junction

<P>We report the realization of ten stable tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) states in a single device. To achieve ten resistance states, we have used a magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) structure that consists of two magnetic layers, which are Fe and GaMnAs ferromagnetic layers. Owing to the two in-plane magnetic easy axes that result from strong cubic anisotropies in both Fe and GaMnAs layers, noncollinear magnetic configurations between two magnetic layers were realized, in addition to the parallel and antiparallel configurations. Such noncollinear magnetic configurations provide stable intermediate TMR values between two extreme values corresponding parallel and antiparallel configurations. The number of stable TMR values was further increased by forming multidomain structures in the MTJ structure. We demonstrate that we can obtain up to ten stable TMR values, and they can be controlled by applying the appropriate magnetic field sequences.</P>
Electrochemical Performance of a Metal-supported Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell

A YSZ electrolyte based ceramic supported Solid Oxide Cell (SOC) and a metal interconnect supported SOC was investigated under both fuel cell and co-electrolysis (steam and $CO_2$) mode at $800^{\circ}C$. The single cell performance was analyzed by impedance spectra and product gas composition with gas chromatography(GC). The long-term performance in the co-electrolysis mode under a current density of $800mA/cm^2$ was obtained using steam and carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) mixed gas condition.

Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI) is developing the anode supported planer solid oxide fuel cell operated at intermediate temperature. KEPRI has researched on materials and structures of SOFC stacks for several years. As a result, the maximum power density of a single cell in a stack reached above 0.3W/㎠ at 750℃. At the first in Korea, KEPRI succeeded in manufacturing a 1㎾-class SOFC stack composed of 37 cells and developed a SOFC generation system for combined heat and power in 2006. The system designed for residential power generation by using natural gas as fuel can concurrently produce electricity at a SOFC stack and hot water from recuperating heat. The system showed the maximum DC output of 1.3㎾e and is under testing continuously.
오존농도 예측 정확도 향상을 위한 자료동화기법에 따른 WRF모델의 기상민감도 연구

Sensitivity analysis of the WRF model according to the impact of nudging (e.g., nudging techniques and application domains) was conducted during high nocturnal ozone episode to improve the prediction of the regional ozone concentration in the southeastern coastal area of the Korean peninsula. The analysis was performed by six simulation experiments: (1) without nudging (e.g., CNTL case), (2) with observation nudging (ONE case) to all domains (domain 1∼4), (3) with grid nudging (GNE case) to all domains, (4)∼(6) with grid nudging to domain 1, domain 1∼2 and domain 1∼3, respectively (GNE-1, GNE-2, GNE-3 case). The results for nudging techniques showed that the GNE case was in very good agreement with those observed during all analysis periods (e.g., daytime, nighttime, and total), as compared to the ONE case. In particular, the large effect of grid nudging on the near-surface meteorological factors (temperature, relative humidity, and wind fields) was predicted at the coastline and nearby sea during daytime. The results for application domains showed that the effects of nudging were distinguished between the meteorological factors and between the time periods. When applied grid nudging until subdomain, the improvement effects of temperature and relative humidity had differential tendencies. Temperature was increased for all time, but relative humidity was increased in daytime and was decreased in nighttime. Thus, GNE case showed better result than other cases.
