        정보이론 기반 한국어 준말의 분석

        In casual speech of Korean, words are often reduced to shorter forms by reducing one or more syllables from the original words. This word reduction comes in three types: simple deletion of one or more syllables from the source word, reduction motivated by hiatus avoidance, and reduction created by deletion of subsyllabic segment(s) with subsequent resyllabification. The third type, which we call "subsyllabic reduction (SSR)," is particularly interesting because it is not clear what motivates this specific deletion of segment strings and the subsequent phonological restructuring. This paper examines the issues surrounding SSR from the perspective of information theory (Shannon 1948) and proposes that SSR occurs to improve string well-formedness and collocational strength between segments, which are measured respectively by information-theoretic notions of ``positive logarithm`` (plog; Goldsmith 2002, 2011) and ``mutual information``. To elaborate this proposal, we compiled a list of reduced words created by SSR and examined how plog and mutual information vary with SSR. We obtained a partially positive result: Among the five types of SSR, the values of plog and mutual information change as we expected in three types, which account for 270 out of 309 cases of SSR. We suggested a tentative explanation for the remaining cases based on reverse derivation and word-edge effect. (Aitchison 2011). (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies · Keimyung University)

        In past decade, ectopic pregnancy developing in the previous cesarean section scar has been the rarest forms of ectopic pregnancy and very dangerous because of the risk of uterine rupture and hemorrhage. These pregnancies once carried a maternal mortality rate of 40% to 45%, and until recent years they usually resulted in abdominal hysterectomy as a life-saving procedure. However, increased awareness of the importance of preserving childbearing capacity has led to several successful attempts at conservative management that include intraamniotic and systemic methotrexate administration, suction curettage followed by insertion of an intracervical 30-mL Foley catheter ballooning and angiographic artery embolization. We present three cases of ectopic pregnancy developing in the previous cesarean section scar in which successfully treated with conservative management.

        이미지 센서 컬러 필터용 유기반도체 화합물 기반의 신규 황색 아로마틱 이민 유도체

        이미지 센서 컬러 필터에 사용하기 위해 새로운 황색 방향족 이민 유도체가 설계되고 합성되었다. 합성된 화합물은 방향족 이민 그룹을 기반으로 한 화학 구조를 가지고 있다. 새로운 재료는 상업용 장치 제조 공정을 모방한 조건에서 광학적 및 열적 특성을 기반으로 평가되었다. 이들의 관련 성능을 비교한 결과, ((E)-3-methyl-4-((3-methyl-5-oxo-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4(5H)-ylidene) methyl)-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one (MOPMPO)은 industry에 중점적으로 사용되는 프로필렌 글리콜 모노메틸 에테르 아세테이트 용매에 대한 용해도가 0.5 wt%이고, 290 ℃의 높은 분해 온도를 갖는 이미지 센서 컬러 필터 소재로서 우수한 성능을 나타내었다. MOPMPO가 이미지 센서 색재의 황색 염료 첨가제로 사용할 수 있음을 확인하였다. Novel aromatic imine derivatives with yellow were designed and synthesized for their potential application in color filters for image sensors. The synthesized compounds possessed chemical structures using aromatic imine groups. This innovative material was evaluated thoroughly, considering its optical and thermal properties under conditions similar to commercial device manufacturing processes. Following a rigorous performance evaluation, it was found that (E)-3-methyl-4-((3-methyl- 5-oxo-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4(5H)-ylidene)methyl)-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one, abbreviated as MOPMPO, exhibited an impressive solubility of 0.5 wt% in propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate, predominantly utilized as the solvent in the industry. Furthermore, MOPMPO showed exceptional performance as a color filter material for image sensors, having a high decomposition temperature of 290 ℃. These data unequivocally establish MOPMPO as a viable yellow dye additive for coloring materials in image sensor applications.

        Spirobifluorene 그룹을 포함하는 새로운 청색 발광 재료의 전계발광

        BTPSF와 BDTSF는 유기발광다이오드용 스파이로플루오렌 모이어티를 기반으로 하는 새로운 청색 발광 물질로 성공적으로 합성되었다. BTPSF와 BDTSF는 촉매를 사용하지 않고 Diels-Alder 반응을 통해 합성하여 고순도를 얻었다. 합성된 물질의 광발광 스펙트럼은 용액 상태에서 약 381, 407 nm, 필름 상태에서 각각 395, 434 nm의 최대 발광 파장을 나타내어 자외선과 짙은 청색 발광색을 나타냈다. 합성된 BDTSF 물질은 non-doped 소자의 EML로 적용되었으며, 전류 효율은 0.61 cd/A이다. 2,7-bis(3',6'-diphenyl-[1,1':2',1''-terphenyl]-4'-yl)-9,9'-spirobi[fluorene] (BTPSF) and 2,7-bis(1,4-diphenyltriphenylen-2-yl)-9,9'-spirobi[fluorene] (BDTSF) were successfully synthesized as novel blue-emission materials for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on the spirobifluorene (SBF) moiety. BTPSF and BDTSF were obtained in high purity via a Diels-Alder reaction, without the use of a catalyst. Photoluminescence spectra of the synthesized materials showed maximum emitting wavelengths of approximately 381 and 407 nm in solution and 395 and 434 nm in the film state, for BTPSF and BDTSF, respectively, indicating ultra-violet and deep blue emission colors. BDTSF was applied as an emissive layer (EML) in non-doped devices and achieved a current efficiency of 0.61 cd/A and an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 0.46%.

        이미지 센서 컬러 필터에 사용하기 위해 새로운 노란색 퀴놀린-다이온 염료 파생물을 설계하고 합성했습니다. 합성된 화합물은 퀴놀린과 디온 그룹으로 구성된 기본 화학 구조를 가지고 있습니다. 새로운 재료는 상업적 장치 제조 공정을 모방한 조건에서 광학적, 열적 특성을 기반으로 평가되었습니다. 이들의 관련 성능을 비교한 결과, 제조된 두 화합물 사이에서 2-(3-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-ylidene)-1H-indene-1,3(2H)-dione (HQIDO)이 다음과 같은 우수한 성능을 나타냈습니다. 프로필렌 글리콜 모노메틸 에테르 아세테이트 용매에서 0.5 wt%보다 큰 용해도, 각각 298 ℃의 높은 분해 온도를 포함하는 이미지 센서 컬러 필터 재료. 결과는 HQIDO가 이미지 센서 착색제에서 노란색 염료 첨가제로 사용될 수 있음을 시사합니다. New yellow quinoline-dione dye derivatives were designed and synthesized for use in image sensor color filters. The synthesized compounds have a basic chemical structure composed of quinoline and dione groups. New materials were evaluated on the basis of their optical and thermal properties under conditions mimicking those of a commercial device fabrication process. A comparison of their related performances revealed that, between the two prepared compounds, 2-(3-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H)-ylidene)-1H-indene-1,3(2H)-dione (HQIDO) exhibited the superior performance as an image sensor color filter material, including a solubility greater than 0.5 wt% in propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate solvent and a high decomposition temperature of 298 ℃, respectively. The results suggest that HQIDO can be used as a yellow dye additive in an image sensor colorant.

        Heat transfer and mechanical stability analyses to determine the aspect ratio of rock caverns for thermal energy storage

        Thermal stratification in solar thermal storages is used to improve the efficiency of solar heating systems because a high degree of thermal stratification in the storages increases the thermal performance of the systems. It has been demonstrated that better thermal stratification can be achieved by increasing the aspect ratio (height-to-width ratio) of the heat storage containers. However, a high-aspect-ratio design may lead to mechanical (structural) instability of the storage space because of its tall, narrow shape. Therefore, heat storage containers should be designed to provide good thermal performance, while considering the mechanical stability of the storage space. This is an important issue in the design of thermal energy storage (TES) spaces, particularly the underground rock caverns used for TES, because the stability of rock caverns depends largely on geomechanical factors, such as rock properties and in-situ stresses. To address this issue, we present a numerical approach for determining the aspect ratio of underground TES caverns that considers both thermal performance and mechanical stability. This approach is based on a thermal performance evaluation in terms of thermal stratification using heat transfer analysis and a mechanical stability assessment that calculates the factor of safety using finite element analysis combined with a shear strength reduction (SSR) method. The applicability of our approach is demonstrated in the preliminary design of a silo-shaped rock cavern used to store hot water for district heating. The results of the numerical analyses under various design conditions are presented and discussed in detail, and we propose an aspect ratio for the rock cavern.

      • Comparison of Gait Phase Detection Systems for Automatic FES Walking

        A simple, accurate gait phase detection is essential for the efficient application of the automatic FES walking system. Two different gait phase detection systems have been developed and compared in this study: one using a tilt sensor and the other using combinations of FSR sensors and a gyrosensor. Gait events were determined by the three-dimensional motion analysis system. The FSR-gyro sensor system, mounting four FSR sensors on the heel, 1<SUP>st</SUP> and 4<SUP>th</SUP> metatarsal heads and hallux and a gyrosensor on the heel, successfully detected various gait events including initial contact(IC), foot flat(FF), Heel off(HO) and Swing(SW). A miniaturized tilt sensor, mounted on the shank, also successfully detected IC and FO using the magnitude and the time duration of sensor signals. In addition, the tilt sensor system could detect the 1<SUP>st</SUP><SUP></SUP> TV and the 2<SUP>nd</SUP> TV, since the sensor generates offset voltage at the time of tibia vertical(TV). Even though the FSR-gyro sensor system might be more reliable for the gait phase detection, the simple tilt sensor system is not hindered by cables from the foot and could stimulate limbs at the same places where the detection is made.

      • Therapeutic Effects of Acupuncture through Enhancement of Functional Angiogenesis and Granulogenesis in Rat Wound Healing

        <P>Acupuncture regulates inflammation process and growth factors by increasing blood circulation in affected areas. In this study, we examined whether acupuncture has an effect on wound healing in injured rat. Rats were assigned randomly into two groups: control group and acupuncture group. Acupuncture treatment was carried out at 8 sites around the wounded area. We analyzed the wound area, inflammatory cytokines, proliferation of resident cells, and angiogenesis and induction of extracelluar matrix remodeling. At 7 days after-wounding the wound size in acupuncture-treat group was decreased more significantly compared to control group. In addition, the protein levels of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-<I><I>α</I></I> (TNF-<I><I>α</I></I>) and interleukin-1<I><I>β</I></I> (IL-1<I><I>β</I></I>) were significantly decreased compared to the control at 2 and 7 days post-wounding. Also, we analyzed newly generated cells by performing immunostaining for PCNA and using several phenotype markers such as CD-31, <I><I>α</I></I>-SMA, and collagen type I. In acupuncture-treated group, PCNA-positive cell was increased and PCNA labeled CD-31-positive vessels, <I><I>α</I></I>-SMA- and collagen type I-positive fibroblastic cells, were increased compared to the control group at 7 days post-wounding. These results suggest that acupuncture may improve wound healing through decreasing pro-inflammatory response, increasing cell proliferation and angiogenesis, and inducing extracellular matrix remodeling.</P>

        Nonlinear Compensators of Exhaust Gas Recirculation and Variable Geometry Turbocharger Systems Using Air Path Models for a CRDI Diesel Engine

        This paper investigates the design of model-based feedforward compensators for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) systems using air path models for a common-rail direct injection (CRDI) diesel engine to cope with the nonlinear control problem. The model-based feedforward compensators generate set-positions of the EGR valve and the VGT vane to track the desired mass air flow (MAF) and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) with consideration of the current engine operating conditions. In the best case, the rising time to reach 90% of the MAF set-point was reduced by 69.8% compared with the look-up table based feedforward compensators.
