Molecular dynamics simulations approaches for discovering anti-influenza drug

The emergence of influenza virus and antigenic drift are potential cause of world-wide pandemic. There are some commercially available drugs in the market to treat influenza. During past decade, however, critical resistances have been raised for biological targets. Because of structural complexity and flexibility of target proteins, applying a computational modeling tool is very beneficial for developing alternative anti-influenza drugs. In this review, we introduced molecular dynamics (MD) simulations approach to reflect full conformational flexibility of proteins during molecular modeling works. Case studies of MD works were summarized for the drug discovery and drug resistance mechanism of anti-influenza pharmaceuticals.
In-vivo measurements of the dielectric properties of breast carcinoma xenografted on nude mice

<P>A developing method of cancer detection is to use electromagnetic waves to compare the dielectric properties of normal and cancerous tissue. Because most of the previous studies consisted of dielectric measurements taken ex-vivo, this study investigated the advantages of in-vivo measurements, obtained using the newly developed insertion-type planar probe, through the measurements of cancer (MDA MB 231), which was cultivated and implanted into the mammary fat pad of nude mice. Reflection coefficients were obtained in the broadband frequency range from 0.5 to 30 GHz, from which broadband complex permittivity data was extracted. Complex permittivity, in addition to other parameters such as conductivity and characteristic frequency, were used to make comparisons between cancerous tissue, normal muscle tissue and fat tissue, as well as comparisons between in-vivo and ex-vivo measurements. This study investigated the suitability of in-vivo cancer detection using microwaves with the newly developed insertion-type planar probe. Results showed that both sensitivity and specificity of the current method was 97%. In addition, predictive values were 99% for the positive and 94% for the negative, thus greatly enhancing the practicality of this method. In conclusion, it was demonstrated that in-vivo measurements are highly beneficial in studying the potential of microwaves as a diagnostic tool of breast cancer, especially in combination with the newly developed insertion-type planar probe. © 2006 Wiley-Liss, Inc.</P>

Indoor delivery robots transport items from their initial points to designated destinations. Multi-floor delivery is more efficient but poses challenges. In this paper, we introduce an efficient route planning method and an inter-floor movement system utilizing elevators, based on task management concepts. This enables swift delivery to the designated destinations, simplifying the system and ensuring rapid and stable inter-floor movement.
민감도 분석을 통한 항공기 주 착륙장치 미접힘 결함에 미치는 주요 조인트 유격의 영향 연구

항공기 주 착륙장치가 접히지 않는 결함이 발생하였다. 결함의 직접 원인은 비정상적인 밸브 입력이고, 근본 원인은 주 착륙장치 조인트에 존재하는 유격의 누적으로 추정된다. 주 착륙장치는 하나의 유압 작동기와 여러 링크의 조립체이다. 결함에 미치는 영향이 큰 조인트를 식별하기 위해 주 착륙장치의 기구학 모델에 기반한 민감도 분석을 실시하였다. 모델에서 각 링크를 강체로 가정하였으며, 상대적인 위치는 기하학적으로 결정하였다. 민감도 분석 전 기술 도서 상의 데이터를 이용하여 모델을 교정하였다. 교정된 모델과 실험 계획에 기반하여 컴퓨터 실험을 실시하였다. 그 결과 비정상 작동을 일으키는 상대적으로 유력한 조인트를 찾을 수 있었다. 모델의 타당성 검증은 실제 결함 데이터를 활용하여 수행하였다. If a failure to retract the main landing gear occurs, the abnormal valve input is assumed to be the direct cause of such failure, and the accumulation of joint gaps throughout the system is thought to be its root cause. The main landing gear is an assembly of a hydraulic actuator and a linkage system consisting of joints and links. The system is complex; therefore, a sensitivity analysis was required to identify the important joints. A geometrical linkage model was developed where each link was assumed to be a rigid body. This model was calibrated using data provided in the maintenance manual of the aircraft. Computer experiments were conducted using both the calibrated model and the experimental design. As a result, a group of joints that had a dominant influence on the failure were identified. Finally, the validity of the model was evaluated using failure data.

Recently, there has been active research on place recognition using Lidar data. These studies utilize SLAM technology, allowing robots to create maps in real-time while determining their location. Various methods are being researched for place recognition, ranging from histogram-based approaches to learning-based descriptor methods. However, existing methods are vulnerable to rotational or translational changes. To address these issues, this paper proposes a map-to-map comparison and matching method using optimized paths and global maps based on consecutive scans, which enables more accurate and robust place recognition. The proposed method is experimentally proven to be superior to existing scan-based methods using the KIST L8 underground parking dataset.

본 논문에서는 로봇이 아파트 단지의 세대번호를 인식 및 택배를 하차시키는 기능을 소개한다. 아두이노와 RFID 리더기, UID칩을 활용하여 세대별로 UID를 부여하여 목표지점을 탐색한다. 아두이노간 시리얼 통신하여 UID데이터를 전달하고 이후 UID와 주소를 확인한 후 일치 시 택배를 모터를 이용하여 하차시킨다.
Desmoplastic Fibroma of the Cranium in a Young Man

Desmoplastic fibroma, which develops predominantly in long bones and the mandible, is a rare and benign but locally aggressive tumor. Desmoplastic fibroma of the cranium is extremely rare. We report a case of desmoplastic fibroma of the frontal bone in a young man. Because of its locally aggressive behavior, complete surgical excision with a safety margin is essential.
