As a form of industrial control systems (ICS), nuclear instrumentation and control (I&C) systems have been digitalized increasingly. This has raised in turn cyber security concerns. Cyber security for ICS is important because cyber-attacks against ICS can cause not only equipment damage and loss of production but also personal and public safety hazards unlike in general IT environments. Numerous risk analyses have been carried out to enhance the safety of ICS and recently, many studies related to the cyber security of ICS are being conducted. Many existing risk analyses and cyber security studies have considered safety and cyber security separately. However, both safety and cyber security perspectives should be considered when analyzing risks for complex and critical ICS facilities such as nuclear power plants (NPPs). In this paper, the STPA-SafeSec methodology is selected to consider both safety and security perspectives when performing a risk analysis for NPPs in order to assess impacts on the safety by cyber-attacks against the digital I&C systems. The STPA-SafeSec methodology was applied to a test-bed system that simulates a condensate water (CD) system in an NPP. The process of the application up to the development of mitigation strategies is described in detail.

Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is one of the most difficult pain syndromes to treat. Invasive treatments may be considered when patients fail to obtain adequate pain relief from noninvasive treatment approaches. Here, we present three cases of PHN in the mandibular branch treated with ultrasound-assisted mental nerve block and pulsed radiofrequency treatment. None of the patients had adequate pain relief from the medical therapy, so we performed the mental nerve block on the affected side under ultrasound assistance. Two patients showed satisfactory pain relief continuously over 12 months without any further interventions, whereas one patient only had short-term pain relief. For the patient had short-term pain relief we performed pulsed radiofrequency treatment (PRFT) on the left mental nerve under ultrasound assistance. After PRFT, the patient had adequate pain relief for 6 months and there was no need for further management. (Korean J Pain 2014; 27: 81-85)

최근 들어 전원측에서 부하측으로 에너지를 전달할 때 비접촉식으로 사용하는 응용이 늘고 있다. 비접촉식으로 에너지를 전달하기 위하여 전원측과 부하측이 공간적으로 분리된 변압기를 사용하는데, 이를 분리형 변압기라 한다. 분리형 변압기는 낮은 결합계수로 인해, 컨버터에 적용할 경우 에너지 전달의 비효율성 등의 여러 가지 문제를 발생시킨다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 분리형 변압기의 문제를 극복하고 컨버터의 에너지 전달의 효율성을 높이기 위한 공진 회로의 비교분석 및 최적 설계를 수행하였다. 분리형 변압기를 사용하는 공진형 컨버터의 기본적인 특성 파악을 통해 중요한 설계 변수를 도출하며 새로운 목적함수를 제시하여 분리형 변압기의 단점을 가장 잘 보완할 수 있는 컨버터 설계가 가능하도록 한다. 8개의 기본적인 공진 형태를 설정하고 이들의 특성 및 성능을 비교 분석하고 최적 설계를 수행한다.

Quality of rice grain changes during dry storage with internal physiological changes and external injury by organism. Storage rice changes by condition with respiration via variable temperature, hydrolysis enzyme reaction, lipid peroxidation occurs with change of palatability. During dry storage, physiological change with protein variation pattern was examined by image analysis on proteomic technology. Analysis revealed that protein activity had no change store at room temperature and store at 40℃, but decreased store at 60℃. Analysis of variable hydrophobic protein pattern revealed that protein activity of beta-tubulin, protein disulfide isomerase, vacuolar ATPase b subunit, globulin was not significantly decreased all dry and store condition. However, heat shock protein 70, and glutathione transferase was significantly decreased when rice dried at 60℃ compared with room temperature and 40℃ dry condition.

BACKGROUND: The ability to induce tolerance, or at least minimize the need for immunosuppressive therapy, is a high priority in organ transplantation. Accomplishing this goal requires a novel method for determining when a patient has become tolerant to or is rejecting their graft. Here, we sought to develop an efficient monitoring protocol based on gene expression profiles of recipient T cells in murine skin and islet allograft models. METHODS: Unlike previous studies, here, gene expression analysis was focused on donor antigen-reactive T cells, which were prepared by collecting CD69 T cells from cocultures of recipient peripheral T cells and donor antigen-presenting cells. Candidate tolerance and rejection biomarker genes were selected from a CD69 T-cell microarray analysis, and their expression levels were measured in the recipient CD69 T-cell fraction using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: Our new monitoring protocol was capable of precisely detecting the immune status of recipients relative to their graft regardless of the organ received, whether they were taking immunosuppressive drugs, or different strains of origin. CONCLUSIONS: Gene expression analysis focusing on recipient CD69 T cells as the donor antigen-reactive T-cell population could be used as an effective and sensitive method for monitoring transplant patients.
