Micro end-milling has been becoming an important machining process to manufacture a number of small products such as micro-devices, bio-chips, micro-patterns and so on. Despite the importance of micro end-milling, many related researches have given grand efforts to micro end-milling phenomenon, for example, micro end-milling mechanism, cutting force modeling and machinability. This paper strongly concerned actual problem, micro tool deflection, which causes excessive machining errors on the workpiece. To research this problem, we measured cutting forces in micro end-milling processes. And then we measured about cutting profile for that processes. At last we make a comparison between tool deflection due to cutting force and measurement of cutting profile.

In order to understand the influence of colours on the urban design of a city, a portion of the central Chung-Ju was chosen as the study area, and three cases were researched as colours. These surveyed colours are analysed in their hue, value and chroma. It was necessary to determine the colours of 272 buildings exterior in all in order formulate the findings presented in this study. The result of this study can be briefly summerised as the following ; 1) The trends in the use of colour turn out like this ; 55.3% of the building were Y(yellow), YR(yellow-green), R(red) Family in Hue, abour 33.9% of them were within 8.0-8.9 and 26.6% were within 7.0-7.9 on the value scale, and about 48.5% of them were within 1.0-1.9, 2.0-2.9 and 3.0-3.9 on the chroma scale. 1) For case 1 on the exterior colours of buildings, about 57.8% were Y and YR family in Hue, about 53.7% were 8.0-8.9 and 7.0-7.9 in Value, and about 49.6% of them were within 1.0-3.9 in chroma. 2) For case 2 on the exterior colours of buildings, about 52.4% were Y and R family in Hue, about 65.1% were 7.0-8.9 in Value, and about 46% were 1.0-2.9 in Chroma. 3) For case 3 on the exterior colours of buildings, about 55.7% were Y and YR Family in Hue, about 72.1% were 7.0-8.9 in Value, and about 31.1% were 2.0-2.9 in Chroma. In summary, the colours of the building surveyed in central Chung-Ju can be characerized as Y, YR, R, N family in Hue, 7.0-7.9, 8.0-8.9 in Value registered in 1.0-1.9, 2.0-2.9, 3.0-3.9 in Chroma. The observed exterior colours show a tendency toward Yellow in Hue, High in Value and low in Chroma. Generally, the majority of the colours is light rather than strong in tone.

Activating signal cointegrator-2(ASC-2), also reported as AIB3, TRBP, RAP250, NRC and PRIP, directly binds to and functions as a coactivator molecule of nuclear receptors and many other transcription factors. In particular, our previous results from microinjection of anti-ASC2 antibody demonstrated that ASC-2 is required for transactivation by nuclear receptors and AP-1 in vivo. Here we show that ASC-2 belongs to a steady-state complex of approximately 2 MDa(ASCOM for ASC-2 complex) in HeLa nuclei, which contains mammalian homologues of Drosophila Trithorax group(Trx-G) proteins ALR-1, ALR-2, HALR and ASH2. ALR-1/2 and HALR contain a SET domain that specifically methylates histone H3 lysine 4(K4). We further demonstrate that retinoic acid receptor(RAR) transactivation requires retinoid-dependent recruitment of ASCOM to DNA-bound RAR in vivo. Thus, ASCOM represents the first mammalian coactivator complex with H3/K4-methylase activity, directly recruited to nuclear receptors.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to select the most quntatified nutritional parameter on the long-term outcomes in advanced gastric cancer patients. Material and methods: 370 patients with advanced gastric adenocarcinoma who underwent radical curative gastrectomy between January 2007 and December 2009 were enrolled in this retrospective study. The quntatified nutritional parameters included body mass index (BMI), ideal body weight percentile (IBW%), serum albumin, total lymphocyte count (TLC) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI). The primary outcomes were the impact of each nutritional parameter on overall survival. Results: Kaplan-Meier analysis and log rank test revealed that a low PNI was significantly associated with poor prognosis (p<0.030). And there were no significant differences in other quntatified nutritional parameter such as BMI (p=0.061), IBW% (p=0.304), serum albumin (p=0.235) and TLC (p=0.159). Furthermore, overall survival rate were significantly lower in a low PNI group at postoperative 6 months (p <0.001) and 12 months (p<0.001). Conclusions: Based on our results, the PNI is the most valid and reliable screening parameter in the nutritional assessment of advanced gastric cancer patients underwent radical gastrectomy. In addition, a low PNI at postoperative 12 months is significantly correlated with the overall survival rate, so the adequate nutritional support after gastrectomy is important, too.

Introduction

Interleukin-34 (IL-34) is a recently defined cytokine, showing a functional overlap with macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF). This study was undertaken to address the expression of IL-34 in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and to investigate its regulation and pathogenic role in RA.

Methods

IL-34 levels were determined in the RA synovium, synovial fluid (SF) and fibroblast-like synovial cells (FLS) by immunohistochemistry, real-time PCR, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunoblotting. RA activity was assessed using Disease Activity Score 28 (DAS28) activity in the plasma collected at baseline and one year after treatment. Conditioned media (CM) were prepared from RA FLS culture with tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) for 24 hours and used for functional assay.

Results

IL-34 was expressed in the synovium, SF, and FLS from RA patients. The production of IL-34 in FLS was up-regulated by TNFα in RA samples compared with osteoarthritis (OA) patients. Importantly, the preferential induction of IL-34 rather than M-CSF by TNFα in RAFLS was mediated by the transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and activation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK). IL-34 elevation in plasma from RA patients was decreased after the administration of disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) in accordance with a decrease in DAS28. CM from RAFLS cultured with TNFα promoted chemotactic migration of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and subsequent osteoclast (OC) formation, effects that were attenuated by an anti-IL-34 antibody.

Conclusions

These data provide novel information about the production of IL-34 in RA FLS and indicate that IL-34 is an additional osteoclastogenic factor regulated by TNFα in RA, suggesting a discrete role of IL-34 in inflammatory RA diseases.

Recently, a reference-free damage detection technique based on guided wave and the characteristics of piezoelectric ceramic has been proposed by author's group and the developed technique is applied to in-service bridges, Samseung Bridge in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, Buffalo Creek Bridge in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, US. First, raw signals using attached collocated PZT pairs are measured and then individual Lamb modes are decomposed. Finally, instantaneous damage classification technique is performed using the decoupled signals.

Purpose: Lymph node metastasis is an important prognostic factor in patients with early gastric cancer. Therefore, we analyzed the predictive factors for lymph node metastasis in submucosal gastric cancer and explored the feasibility of minimally invasive surgery. Methods: The clinicopathological features of 317 patients with submucosal gastric cancer, who underwent radical gastrectomy with lymph node dissection at Department of Surgery, Keimyung University School of Medicine from January 2003 to December 2007, were examined retrospectively. The lesions were divided into 3 layers according to the depth of submucosal invasion of the cancer cell (SM1, SM2, and SM3). We analyzed the clinicopathological variables regarding lymph node metastasis. Results: Of the 317 patients, 74 patients (23.3%) had lymph node metastasis. Tumor size, histological type, Lauren classification, depth of invasion, lymphatic invasion, vascular invasion, and perineural invasion showed a positive correlation with lymph node metastasis by univariate analysis. In multivariate analysis, tumor size (≥4 cm vs <2 cm, P=0.034 and 2∼4 cm vs <2 cm, P=0.043), histological type (P=0.013), and lymphatic invasion (P=0.000) were significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis. Conclusion: Tumor size, histological type, and lymphatic invasion were independent risk factors for lymph node metastasis in submucosal gastric cancer. Minimally invasive surgery, such as endoscopic submucosal dissection may be applied to submucosal gastric cancer with a tumor size less than 2 cm, differentiated histological type, and no lymphatic invasion.
