Lee Jema said in his book, Dongui Susebowon, that the prescriptions for Soum constitutional type were already developed by doctors during the Song Jin Yuan China around 10th-13th century. Those prescriptions were common techniques that were used throughout the East Asian region. Among them, Lee Jema specially selected some candidate formulas and modified them according to his constitutional theory. This study investigated how similar his modified prescriptions to original formulas through database[ancient formula database] analysis. 24 out of 24 Soum prescriptions selected meaningful ingredient herbs from the original formula. A 50% or higher concordance rate compared to the original formulas. There are only 9 treatment prescriptions that cannot be checked in the ancient formula database . A future task will be to reveal the practical meanings of the ingredients Lee Jema adjusted for the Soum constitutional type patients

Background: To investigate the relationship between markers of overall glucose exposure, postprandial glucose excursions and glycemic variability in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: Sixty three patients with T2DM (mean age of 56 years) were enrolled, and all wore a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS) for 72 hours. We investigated the interrelationships between markers of overall glucose exposure, markers of postprandial glucose excursions and glycemic variability parameters from a CGMS. Results: Spearman`s correlation analysis revealed a signifi cant correlation between all markers of overall glucose exposure and various parameters related to glucose excursion. Percent coeffi cient of variation (CV) showed the strongest correlation with the GA (r = 0.470, p < 0.01). In participants with HbA1c levels < 7.5% (n = 33), almost all of glycemic markers and glycemic variability parameters were signifi cantly correlated with each other. All postprandial glucose excursion parameters also showed signifi cant correlation with other glycemic markers. In participants with HbA1c levels < 7.5% (n = 33), all markers of overall glucose exposure showed signifi cant interrelationships with mean glucose, postprandial glucose excursion and glycemic variability parameters (except CV). However, in participants with HbA1c levels = 7.5% (n = 30), postprandial glucose excursion and glycemic variability parameters were not related with any chronic glycemic marker. Conclusions: The postprandial glucose excursions may explain the glycemic variability and the total glucose exposures in well-controlled diabetic participants.
Revisiting the Tradition of Progressive Education

이 연구는 문헌 연구로서 연구자는 이 연구에서 홀리스틱 교육과 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있는 진보주의 교육에 대해 논의하였다. 연구자는 우선 진보주의 교육사조가 태동하게 된 사회적 배경에 대해 고찰하였고, 다음으로 진보주의의 철학적 기저를 분석하였다. 이와 아울러 다양한 형태로 전개된 진보주의 교육운동의 공통적인 특징을 재조명하였으며, 이를 토대로 진보주의에 대한 재평가를 시도하였다. 연구자의 분석에 의하면, 진보주의는 교육을 민주화하고 실생활과 밀접하게 변화시켰다는 점에서 그리고 특히 홀리스틱 교육의 철학적 기저를 제공하고 있다는 점에서 그 기여도가 크지만, 학교 현장의 혼선을 초래하고 아동의 지적 발달을 경시하는 결과를 초래했다는 비판으로부터 자유롭지 못하다. In this paper, I have delineated the socio-cultural contexts which gave birth to the progressive education whose founding philosophy is closely related to the underlying principles of holistic education. In doing this, I have also illuminated its underlying philosophical tenets. Moreover, I have investigated some main features of the progressive education movement despite that its multifarious concerns and strategies sometimes conflicted and contradicted with one another. Last, I have made its comprehensive assessment based upon the evaluations of both its proponents and opponents Based on my analysis, educational progressivism has accomplished two major feats which are democratization of education and education lor real life. Progressive education can be credited lor liberating students from external control, authority, drudgery and heteronomy. Furthermore, it has successfully transformed schools into something closer to the real world. However, educational progressivism has created anti-intellectualism in American schools. It is blamed to be a culprit of academic degradation and imbroglio of American public schools. Under the heavy influence of progressive education, schools have neglected their commitment to the intellectual development of each children. In short, educational progressivism has been both a blessing and a curse
Fabrication of Grid-Type Transparent Conducting Electrodes Based on Controlled Mechanical Fracture

Herein, we developed a unique and effective method to fabricate the silver networks embedded in flexible substrates by controlling mechanical fracture in the oxidized surface of elastomers for a highly transparent conducting electrode (TCE). A brittle silica-like layer on a poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) was generated by carrying out UV/ozone treatment. Then, cracks were uniformly produced in the silica-like layer by bending the elastic substrates at different stains. After the PDMS replica with crack patterns was produced, silver ink was filled into the cracks and sintered to form conducting networks embedded in the PDMS substrate. The resulting highly transparent and conductive electrode was mechanically robust to bending strains. The silver networks-based TCEs was successfully applied to emissive electrochemiluminescent (ECL) devices.

Due to recent abnormal weather caused by global warming, peach flowering has been gradually accelerated and spring frost damage increased with premature deacclimation. In this study, in a simulated spring frost environment using a Soil-Fruit-Daylit-System (SFDS) chamber (Environmental Growth Chamber, USA), we investigated whether treatment of 2% cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) can enhance freezing tolerance of the flower buds in 2-year-old whole peach trees and observed visual changes of ice propagation using an infrared camera during the same time. The peach flower buds in the calyx red stage exposed for ~ 20 h in the SFDS chamber of which the minimum temperature was ‒4°C, indicated browning of pistils and stamens as 57.0% in the control and as 14.1% in 2% CNCs treatment. In the case of the first pink stage, the control and 2% CNCs treatment showed browning of pistils and stamens as 98.2% and 70.3%, respectively. However, 2% CNCs treatment exposed in the ‒6°C-targeted chamber could not mitigate frost injury and almost all flower buds were damaged. Infrared thermal images showed that exotherm of the control began at 2:33:03 am, whereas that of 2% CNCs began at 3:01:33 am. The control started exotherm at ‒4.2°C and 2% CNCs started at ‒5.1°C. Thus, 2% CNCs treatment enhanced freezing tolerance by ‒0.9°C and it delayed the exotherm by ~28 min. These results indicate that treatment of 2% CNCs can mitigate frost damage of peach flower buds in frost environment by ‒4°C.
