<P>Controlling oxygen contents is an easy way to tune physical properties in the transition metal oxides. In particular, Fe and/or Co containing oxides are often found to show different electronic states with different valence states by the method. In this report, we synthesized oxygen-deficient SrFe0.8Co0.2O3-delta thin films on (001) (LaAlO3)(0.3)-(SrAl0.5Ta0.5O3)(0.7) substrates by pulsed laser deposition and observed the modification of its electronic state by facile low temperature oxidative annealing. As a result of simple oxidative annealing, we achieved a huge decrease of the lattice constant, reduction in electric resistivity, an increase of the valence states of both Co and Fe, and an increase of hybridization between oxygen and transition metal ions without losing the crystallinity. <P>In this letter, we propose a computationally effient equalization technique that employs block minimum mean squared error (MMSE) depending on LDL<SUP>H</SUP> factorization. Parallel interference cancellation (PIC) is executed with pre- obtained output to provide more reliable symbol detection. In particular, the band structure of the frequency domain channel matrix is exploited to reduce the implementation complexity. It is shown through computer simulation that the proposed technique requires lower complexity than the conventional algorithm to obtain the same performance, and that it exhibits better performance than the conventional counterpart when the same complexity is assumed.</P>
통신장치가 부착된 소방현장지휘관용 및 화재조사관용 호흡보호구의 통신성능 평가연구

화재현장에서 가장 중요한 목표는 빠르고 안전한 화재의 초기 진압으로 인명피해 없이 화재진압이 이루어지기 위해서는 현장 소방 지휘팀과 화재 진압을 하는 소방관과의 중단 없는 통신이 매우 중요한 부분이다. 또한, 화재의 원인이 무엇인지 밝혀내기 위한 화재원인조사에 있어서도 소방지휘팀과 화재조사관과의 통신이 사후 처리에 매우 중요한 업무 프로세스이다. 이를 위하여 소방현장지휘관 및 화재조사관의 안전을 확보하고 현장 대응력을 극대화하면서 안전사고 발생률을 감소시키기 위한 소방현장지휘관 및 화재조사관용 전용통신가능 호흡보호구를 개발하였다. 소방현장지휘관용 및 화재조사관의 역할에 알맞도록 소방현장지휘관용은 전면형 호흡보호구를, 화재조사관용은 반면형 호흡보호구를 개발하였다. 전면형과 반면형 모두 마스크 양쪽으로 유독가스를 막아주는 정화통이 장착되고, 전면에는 통신모듈이 장착되며, 골전도 이어폰으로 연결되는 구조로 하였다. 이에 통신장치가 부착된 호흡구는 부착된 통신장치의 성능이 제 기능을 하는지 여부가 중요하다. 본 연구는 소방현장지휘관용과 화재조사관용으로 개발된 호흡구의 통신성능을 평가하였다. 통신장치의 성능평가요소는 다자간 블루투스통신, 통신성공률, 연속통화성능, 난연성, 방진방수성능, 작동거리, 질량 등으로 성능평가 결과 우수한 결과를 나타내어 당초의 설계목표를 만족할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다.
Impact of White Matter Lesions on Depression in the Patients with Alzheimer’s Disease

Objective-Comorbid depression is common in patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). An increase in white matter lesions (WMLs) has been associated with depression in both elderly individuals with normal cognition and patients with Alzheimer’s disease. We investigated whether the severity and location of WMLs influence the association between WMLs and comorbid depression in AD. Methods-We enrolled 93 AD patients from Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. We administered both the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Inventory (MINI) and the Korean version of the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer’s Disease Assessment Packet (CERAD-K) clinical and neuropsychological battery. Subjects also underwent brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We diagnosed AD according to the criteria of the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke and the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association. We diagnosed depressive disorders according to the DSM-IV diagnostic criteria, and evaluated the severity of depressive symptoms using the Korean version of the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-K). We quantified the WML volumes from the brain MRI using a fully automated segmentation algorithm. Results-The log of the WML volume in the frontal lobe was significantly associated with depressive disorders (odds ratio=1.905, 95% CI=1.027–3.533, p=0.041), but not with the severity of depressive symptoms as measured by the GDS-K. Conclusion-The WML volume in the frontal lobe conferred a risk of comorbid depressive disorders in AD, which implies that comorbid depression in AD may be attributed to vascular causes.
