A Finite Element Solution to the Group Diffusion Problems with Albedo-Type Boundary Conditions

중성자 다군 확산 방정식의 해를 구하기 위하여 albedo형 경계조건을 Hermite 3차 다항식에 의거한 유한요소법과 결합하였다. 중성자 확산문제에 흔히 이용되는 확산방정식의 weak form을 경계조건과 일치하도록 수정하였으며 또한 경계면에 접한 node영역에서의 요소함수 또한 수정 정의하였다. 수정된 유한요소법의 수치계산상의 효율성을 조사할 목적으로 2차원 ZION 가압경수형 원자로문제를 시험계산하고 그 결과를 기존의 다른 계산결과와 비교하였다. Albedo-type boundary condition is incorporated into the finite element formulation of the cubic Hermite polynomials for the two-dimensional solution of the two-group diffusion problem. Two modifications are introduced with respect to the conventional expression for the weak form of the group diffusion equation with the zero flux or zero current boundary condition and the cubic element functions over the boundary nodes. The finite element formulations obtained from those modifications are tested with the two-dimensional ZION problem. The numerical effectiveness of the modifications are examined.
Time-Dependent Neutron Transport Equation with Delayed Neutrons

Time-dependent neutron transport equation with delayed neutrons is analytic-ally solved in the case of isotropic scattering with constant cross sections. The equations in the two divided time regions are obtained from the original equation by the asymptotic method. It is shown that the approximate solutions in each time region are uniformly valid in time to the order of the inverse magnitude of the velocity.

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>Bisphosphonates are generally known to adversely affect fracture healing because they inhibit osteoclastic bone resorption. However, some authors argue that bisphosphonates have no adverse effect on the restoration of the mechanical integrity of long bones after fractures. It is unclear whether bisphosphonates can be initiated safely in patients with acute proximal humerus fractures. The aim of this study was to determine whether the early use of a bisphosphonate affects healing and outcomes of osteoporotic proximal humerus fractures treated with a locking compression plate.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Between August 2004 and June 2013, a total of 82 osteoporotic patients who underwent locking plate fixation of proximal humerus fractures were enrolled retrospectively. The patients were divided into two groups according to the timing of the commencement of treatment with alendronate after surgery: group A (n = 34, initiation of the bisphosphonate treatment within two weeks after surgery) and group B (n = 48, control group, initiation of the treatment three months after surgery). Patients were assessed for radiographic union at 2, 6, 10, and 16 weeks, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery. Clinical assessments were performed using the Constant score and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score at 1 year after surgery.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>No significant differences were observed between the two groups with respect to radiographic and clinical outcomes after locking plate fixation. All patients obtained fracture union, and the mean time to radiographic union was similar in group A and group B (6.3 and 6.6 weeks, respectively; <I>p</I> = 0.67).</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>This study shows that the early initiation of bisphosphonate treatment does not affect bone union or clinical outcomes in patients with an osteoporotic proximal humerus fracture treated by locking compression plate fixation.</P>

This study was carried out to investigate effects of iron content on the quality of soy sauce, bean paste and red pepper caste, and to elucidate the origin of iron and change of the contents during production processes. For the first step, the iron contents in commercial` soy sauce and changes of the contents during brewing process were determined. The results obtained were as follows. 1. Iron contents of raw materials were 108 ppm in soy bean, 133 ppm in defatted soybean, 79 ppm in wheat, 5 ppm in sodium chloride, 58 ppm in seed koji, 300-2000 ppm in spore of Aspergillus oryzae, 240 ppm in wheat gluten, 20 ppm in sodium carbonate (above figures were of dry weight basis), 6 ppm in hydrochloric acid, 18 ppm in caramel and 0.3 ppm in brewing water respectively. 2. Iron contents in koji were 200-240 ppm (as dry weight basis) and increased, more or Less, in progress of koji-making period. 3. Iron contents in the mashes during fermentation were 40ppm after 1 month, 43-47 ppm after 3 months and 49-62 ppm after 6 months. 4. In chemical soy sauce, the iron content was 159 ppm after hydrolysis of wheat gluten with hydrochloric acid, and 184 ppm after neutralization. 5. Higher iron contents were detected both in fermented and chemical soy sauce when the concentration of total nitrogen increased, but the levels were higher in chemical soy sauce than in fermented one at the same concentration of total nitrogen. 6. In the case of fermented soy sauce, the iron content in the filtrate was decreased by press-filtration, but no significant change was found between before and after heat-sterilization. 7. Iron contents in commercial soy sauce were varied with the producers, however, the average value was 62.7 ppm as calculated as 1.0 percent of total nitrogen. And the average level of iron in home-made soy sauce produced by conventional method was 37.68 ppm.
A Computer Code Development for Updating Reliability Data Using Bayes' Theorem and Its Application

특정 원자력발전소 안전성 계통의 신뢰도 분석을 위한 자료평가의 목적으로 전산코드를 개발하였으며 그 유용성을 입증하였다. 가압 경수로 보조급수 계통 신뢰도 분석을 위하여 개발된 전산코드를 이용하여 관련자료를 평가하였다. 이를 위하여 부품고장률의 선분포는 미국의 원자력안전성 연구보고서, 특정 발전소의 운전경험은 기 발간된 인허가자 사상보고서에서 얻었다. 분석결과 후분포는 대수정규분포 곡선에 잘 점철되며 분포의 오차인자들은 현저히 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. A computer code, BERD (Bayesian Estimation of Reliability Data), has been developed and tested in order to update the data for the reliability analysis of safety related systems in a specific nuclear power plant. The code has been used to derive the plant-specific data for reliability analysis of the auxiliary feedwater system of a pressurized water reactor. The prior information for components selected was taken from the U.S. Reactor Safety Study, WASH-1400, and the operating experiences from published licensee event reports. The results show that the updated data are well fitted to log-normal distribution curves and the error factors are reduced significantly.
급성 백혈병에 병발된 침윤성 Aspergillus 감염의 치료 1 예

Invasive Aspergillosis in the immunosuppressed host is usually lethal. There are difficulties in the diagnosis and treatment. We report a case of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis complicating acute myelogenous leukemia, which was sucessfully treated with administration of Amphotericin B and left upper lobectomy of lung. A 29 year old man was admitted to Kyung Hee University Hospital with acute myelogenous leukemia. On 14th day, pneumonia was found on both upper lung. Antibiotics were administreated without improvement. Bronchoscopic findings were nospecific and sputum culture was negative. On 46th day, chest films showed improvement of right upper lobe pneumonia but a cavity with a filling defect (meniscus sign) was found in the left upper lung fields. A two-month course of amphotericin B (960 mg total dose) and left upper lobectomy (On 74 th day) was completed. He is now in complete remission of leukemia and without evidence of Aspergillus infection, after postoperation 16 months.
