Complex formations between syndiotactic poly(methacrylic acid) (st-PMAA) and poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP), and that between st-PMAA and polyethyleneoxide (PEO) through hydrogen bonding were studied by viscometry and potentiometry. Reduced viscosity (${\eta}_{red}$) was measured at various mole fraction of PVP or PEO with respect to a constant amount of st-PMAA. Observation shows a sharp minimum at the 1:1 mole ratio of st-PMAA:PVP or st-PMAA:PEO, which shows that the complexation becomes optimal and the complex has a compact structure in this ratio. Variation of pH also supports this conclusion. This is the case of the system of st-PMAA and PVP in water as well as in DMF. Also the complexation is much enhanced when the molecular weight of PVP is high. Meanwhile, the system of st-PMAA and PEO shows a little different behavior, i.e., this system does not form the complex in DMF and does only in water. It is because the interaction st-PMAA with PEO is weaker than that with PVP.

The purpose of this study was to compare the immediate effects of upper trapezius muscle stretching in more tensed position (MTP) and less tensed position (LTP) on the change of range of motion (ROM) for neck rotation, and the ROM for conjunct neck motions at end-range of neck rotation toward the painful side in patients with unilateral neck pain. Eighteen patients with unilateral neck pain were recruited for the study’s MTP group, and 18 age-, weight- and gender-matched patients with unilateral neck pain were recruited for LTP group. The ROM changes in active neck primary and conjunct motions were measured using a cervical ROM inclinometer in the sitting position. Our results showed that both upper trapezius stretching method in MTP and LTP were significantly effective in increasing the ROM of neck rotation toward painful side in patients with unilateral neck pain. However, a significantly greater increase in the ROM for neck rotation and a further decrease in conjunct neck extension during neck rotation toward the painful side were shown in MTP group, compared to LTP group. The upper trapezius stretching in MTP is useful in increasing the ROM of neck rotation and decreasing the range of conjunct neck extension during neck rotation toward the painful side in patients with unilateral neck pain.

Ely`s test is commonly used to assess rectus femoris muscle flexibility, however, a reliability limit of this test was demonstrated by a previous study. In this study, we present an alternative method using an application for a digital horizontal level in a smartphone (DHLS) to complement the reliability limit of Ely`s test. The aim of this study was to examine the reliability of Ely`s test using DHLS on the pelvis, compared to using visual observation (VO) of pelvic and hip motions. Nineteen patients with lumbar extension-rotation syndrome were recruited for this study. An examiner examined the rectus femoris flexibility (both pass/fail and goniometer scoring) through Ely`s test using both DHLS and VO. A retest session was completed two hours later for within-day reliability and seven days later for between-day intra-rater test-retest reliability. Results showed higher Kappa values for pass/fail scoring and higher intraclass correlation coefficient values for goniometer scoring in Ely`s test using DHLS, compared to using VO. Measurement error and Bland and Altman plots further demonstrated the degree of intra-rater variance during Ely`s test using DHLS in a clinical setting, compared to using VO. These results demonstrated that Ely`s test using DHLS showed acceptable reliability compared to using VO. Ely`s test using DHLS could be widely used for measuring the rectus femoris muscle flexibility in patients with lumbar extension-rotation syndrome, although the inter-rater reliability needs to be established first.

This study was carried out to develop the joining technology by nicro-brazing of STS 304L tube and the thermocouple of Inconel 600 sheath, which is used as an instrument for high-temperature irradiation in HANARO. BAg-1 and BNi-7 were used as filler materials, and AMCO 446 was selected as flux in the brazing. For evaluation of solidity of the joining, the tensile strength and the micro hardness were measured. Both the brazings of STS 304L and Inconel using BAg-1 and BNi-7 filler materials were joined firmly. Some spot flaws were found at the joining places using BNi-7 filler material, however, they turned out not to affect the strength of the materials.

차량 항법 시스템(Car Navigation System)은 요즘 많은 발전을 거듭하여 차량 이용시 사용자가 가고자하는 목적지까지의 길을 쉽게 안내하고 있다. 이런 기술의 발전은 단순한 정적인 길안내(Static Route Guidance) 뿐만 아니라, 동적인 길안내(Dynamic Route Guidance)를 함으로써 자동차 운전자가 쉽고 빠른 길을 안내 받을 수 있게 되었다. 그러나 이러한 교통정보는 매우 변화가 심하므로 최초로 경로를 전송받은 후 그 경로상에 교통정보가 목적까지의 거리가 먼 경우 이런 현상이 더욱 심하게 나타날 수 있다. 이런 경우 운전자는 실제로는 막히는 길로 안내 받을 수 밖에 없다. 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위해 교통정보를 수집하는 기존의 시스템에 Ad Hoc 네트워킹이 가능한 시스템을 탑재한 교통정보 수집 차량(Probe Car)을 이용한다. 정보 수집 차량이 극심한 정체를 발견하면 근처를 지나는 경로를 가진 차량에게 이를 전달하여 새로운 경로를 다운 받을 수 있도록 한다. 이런 방법은 Ad Hoc Relaying System[1]을 이용하여 가능하며, 센터에 수집되고 가공되는 시간을 초대한 줄일 수 있으며, 센터의 통신 오버헤드를 취소화할 수 있다. 또한 기지국에 호가 집중되어 call blocking이 발생할 경우에 이를 해결할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of two types of stretching extensor carpi radialis on the visual analog scale (VAS), pressure-pain thresholds (PPTs), grip strength (GS), and strength of wrist extensor (SWE) in patients with lateral epicondylalgia, Sixteen patients with lateral epicondylalgia were recruited for this study and randomly assigned to two groups; the conventional stretching group (CS) and the stretching of proximal functional massage group (PFM); the VAS, PPTs, GS, and SWE were measured before and after the intervention. Over a period of stretching exercises were performed for five minutes per day, five days per week. The paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used to determine the statistical differences in the VAS, PPTs, GS, and SWE (pre- and post-test). The Independent t-test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to compare the effects of stretching exercises between the CS and PFM groups. The results of this study demonstrated that in the PFM group, the PPTs, GS, and SWE significantly increased, and the VAS decreased (p<.05). In the CS group, the VAS and GS increased significantly after the three-week intervention (p<.05). Pain was decreased and strength (GS and SWE) was increased in the PFM group, compared to the CS group (p<.05). The findings of this study indicate that PFM technique can be applied for decreasing pain and increasing the GS and SWE in patients with lateral epicondylalgia.
요통 환자를 대상으로 후중둔근 도수근력검사의 일치도 및 휴대용 근력계 측정 방법의 신뢰도 검사

The purpose of this study was to assess the agreement of manual muscle testing (MMT) and test-retest reliability of a hand held dynamometer for the posterior gluteus medius muscle, with and without lumbar stabilization, using a pressure biofeedback unit for patients with low back pain. The pressure biofeedback unit was used to minimize the substitute motion of the lumbopelvic region during hip abduction in patients lying on their side. Fifteen patients with low back pain participated in this study. A tester determined the MMT grades of the posterior gluteus medius with and without the pressure biofeedback unit. Active hip abduction range of motion with an inclinometer and the strength of their posterior gluteus medius using a hand held dynamometer were measured with and without the pressure biofeedback unit in the MMT position. The agreement of the grade of muscle strength in the MMT, and intra-rater reliability of both the active hip abduction range of motion and the strength of posterior gluteus medius were analyzed using the weighted kappa and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), respectively. The agreement of MMT with the pressure biofeedback unit (weighted kappa=.92) was higher than the MMT (weighted kappa=.34) (p<.05). The inclinometer with pressure biofeedback unit measurement of the active hip abduction range of motion had an excellent intra-rater reliability (ICC=.90). Also, the hand held dynamometer with pressure biofeedback unit measure of strength of the posterior gluteus medius had a good intra-rater reliability (ICC=.85). Therefore, the test for muscle strength with pressure biofeedback unit will be a reliable method for the determination of the MMT grades or amount of posterior gluteus medius muscle strength and the measurement of the range of motion for hip abduction in patients with low back pain.

<P>Chemically modified nucleotides have been developed and applied into SELEX procedure to find a novel type of aptamers to fit with targets of interest. In this study, we directly performed chemical modification of 5-(<I>N</I>-benzylcarboxyamide)-2′-deoxyuridine (called 5-BzdU) in the AS1411 aptamer, which binds to the nucleolin protein expressed in cancer cells. Forty-seven compounds of AS1411-containing Cy3-labeled 5-BzdU (called Cy3-(5-BzdU)-modified-AS1411) were synthesized by randomly substituting thymidines one to twelve in AS1411 with Cy3-labeled 5-BzdU. Both statistically quantified fluorescence measurements and confocal imaging analysis demonstrated at least three potential compounds of interest: number 12, 29 and 41 that significantly increased the targeting affinity to cancer cells but no significant activity from normal healthy cells. These results suggest that the position and number of substituents in AS1411 are critical parameters to improve the aptamer function. In this study, we demonstrated that chemical modification of the existing aptamers enhanced the binding and targeting affinity to targets of interest without additional SELEX procedures.</P>
마스킹 기법을 적용한 SEED 하드웨어 암호 모듈 구현

IC 카드 및 USIM 등의 보안 하드웨어 토큰은 기존의 보안 소프트웨어에 비해 독립적인 하드웨어 연산을 사용하기 때문에 안전하다고 인식된다. 그러나 하드웨어의 연산시 발생하는 부채널 정보(전력, 전자파 등)를 이용하는 부채널 공격에 취약할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 부채널 공격 방법 중 널리 사용되고 있는 전력분석공격에 대한 대응 기법을 적용 시킨 SEED 하드웨어 모듈을 구현 하고, 공격에 효과적으로 대응이 가능한지 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증 한다.
