        Many of the growth-promoting properties of growth hormone(GH) are mediated by insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I), a highly conserved circulating 70-amino acid peptide. Recent studies have shown that multiple mechanisms influence IGF-I gene expression, including transcription from two promoters, alternative RNA splicing, and variable polyadenylation. In thyroid tissue, thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH) and IGF-I are the most possible candidates for follicular cell proliferation and hypertrophy. Actually IGF-I had autocrine and paracrine effect for tissue growing. We prepared thyroid tumor tissue mRNAs using single step method for detecting IGF-I levels according to different tissues, i.e., thyroid adenoma or papillary thyroid carcinoma. We used Northern blot analysis for IGF-I mRNA and RNase protection assay (RPA) for IGF-I transcription start sites. For Northern blot, we used whole human IGF-I cDNA as a DNA probe and for RPA, we used IGF-I exon 1 containing noncoding promoter 1 as a riboprobe. We got good RNA bands from Northern blot analysis around 1 kb (IGF-IA) and 7.5 kb (IGF-IB) region. To clarify the amount of both IGF-IA and IB mRNAs, we measured autoradiographied signal of IGF-I mRNAs bands using densitometer. In IGF-IA signals, there's no change among liver and thyroid tissues, but in case of IGF-IB mRNA bands, the signal was markedly increased in thyroid carcinoma tissues than that of normal thyroid tissue (85% vs 14%). In the study of RPA, all thyroid tissues used the same transcription start sites as those of liver's. We concluded that that this different regulation of IGF-I mRNA was originated from tissue specificity. That meant some tissue specific transcription factor/s were related to tissue IGF-I expression.

        제주도 지하수 질산염 농도의 시·공간적 변화 특성: 장기(1993-2015) 모니터링 자료의 평가

        1993년부터 2015년까지 관측된 제주도 지하수 장기모니터링 관측정(N = 4,835)에서 수집된 지하수 수질자료(N = 21,568)를 기반으로 질산성질소의 시공간적 변동 특성을 평가하였다. 제주도 지하수의 질산성질소 농도의 중앙값은 2.5 mg/L로서 다른 국가나 대륙의 조사 결과에 비해 다소 높거나 유사한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 지하수 용도, 행정구역 및 고도 별로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 특히, 산간 지역에 비해 저지대 해안가에 위치한 농업 및 주거지역에서 농도가 높음을 확인하였다. Mann-Kendall 및 Sen’s slope 분석을 활용한 질산성질소 농도의 추세 분석 결과, 하류 저지 대에 비해 중산간지역에서의 질산성질소 농도 증가 경향이 뚜렷하였다. 제주도 내 토지 피복의 시계열 변화 특성과 결부 지어 보면, 중산간지역의 오염 증가 추세는 농업지역의 확장 등 인위적 활동 증가에 기인한 결과로 판단된다. 반면,기지정된 지하수자원특별관리구역에서는 전반적으로 질산성질소 농도의 감소 경향이 나타났는데, 이는 지하수 관리 측면에서 수질관리를 위한 적극적인 정책이 유효함을 시사한다. 본 연구에서는 제주도 지하수의 질산성질소 오염관리를 위한 적정 방안을 제안한다. The spatio-temporal variations of nitrate concentrations in groundwater of Jeju Island were evaluated by an analysis of time series groundwater quality data (N = 21,568) that were collected from regional groundwater monitoring (number of wells = 4,835) for up to 20 years between 1993 and 2015. The median concentration of NO 3 -N is 2.5 mg/L, which is slightly higher than those reported from regional surveys in other countries. Nitrate concentrations of groundwater in wells tend to significantly vary according to different water usage (of the well), administrative districts, and topographic elevations: nitrate level is higher in low-lying agricultural and residential areas than those in high mountainous areas. The Mann-Kendall trend test and Sen’s slope analysis show that nitrate concentration in mid-mountainous areas tends to increase, possibly due to the expansion of agricultural areas toward highland. On the other hand, nitrate concentrations in the Specially Designated Groundwater Quality Protection Zones show the temporally decreasing trend, which implies the efficiency of groundwater management actions in Jeju. Proper measures for sustainable groundwater quality management are suggested in this study.

        소아의 상완골 원위부 과간 골절

        상완골 원위부 과간 골절은 소아에서는 매우 드물게 발생되는 골절로 대부분 주관절의 굴곡상태로 주관절 후방부에 직접적인 충격에 의해 발생하는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 전위가 없거나 경미한 경우 도수적 정복술 혹은 도수적 정복술 후 경피적 핀고정술을 시행하며, 전위가 심한 골절이거나 도수적 정복술이 불가능한 경우 관혈적 정복술 후 핀고정술을 시행하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 저자들은 전위된 상완골 원위부 과간 골절 환아 2예에서 각각 도수적 정복술과 관혈적 정복술 후 K 강선 고정술을 시행하여 만족한 결과를 얻었기에 보고하는 바이다. Intercondylar fractures of the distal humerus are very rare in children. The pattern of the fracture would suggest that the mechanism of injury involves a fall directly on the flexed elbow. Most agree that the undisplaced fracture can be managed conservatively. With increasing displacement and comminution, the opinions tend to differ. We suggest that closed reduction with percutaneous K wire pinning and open reduction with percutaneous K wire pinning offer a satisfactory methods by which to treat displaced intercondylar fracture in children.

        비대칭형 보강재 간격에 따른 주기구조물의 SPL모드 해석

        The purpose of this research is to study the vibration and acoustic pressure radiation from a thin isotropic flat plate stiffened by a rectangular array of beams, and excited by a time harmonic point force. These constructions on aircraft and ship structures are often subjected to frequency dependent pressure fluctuations and forces. Forces from the these excitations induce structural vibrations in a wide range of frequencies, which may cause such things as acoustic fatigue and internal cabin noise in the aircraft. It is thus important that the response characteristics and vibration modes of such periodic structures be known. From this theoretical model, the sound pressure levels (SPL) in a semi-infinite fluid(water) bounded by the plate with the variation in the locations of an external time harmonic point force on the plate can be calculated efficiently using three numerical tools such as the Gauss-Jordan method, the LU decomposition method and the IMSL numerical package.

        PD제어와 LQR을 이용한 병진 시스템의 제어특성 연구

        The translation system is made up of springs, masses and a dashpot. This precise piece of equipment is controlled electro-mechanically by a motor and operating program. The control strategy of the system can be changed by spring stiffness, change of mass, and the damping coefficient of the dashpot. This system proves the necessity and effect of a closed loop control. In this paper, PD control experiments were implemented for the translation system. When the notch filter was added on the PD controller, we compared the response characteristics of the two systems. The state feedback controller minimized scalar control gains and the resulting response characteristics of the system were studied using the LQR design. Finally, we improved the response characteristics of the translation system which are rising time, settling time, steady state error, and overshoot. LQR was better as compared with PD control.

        대칭형 보에 의해 보강된 등방성 평판의 음향방사에 관한 연구

        The determination of sound pressure radiated from peoriodic plate structures is fundamental in the estimation of noise levels in aircraft fuselages and ship hull structures. As a robust approach to this problem, here a very general and comprehensive analytical model for predicting the sound radiated by a vibrating plate stiffened by periodically spaced orthogonal symmetric beams subjected to a sinusoidally time varying point load is developed. The plate is assumed to be infinite in extent, and the beams are considered to exert both line force and moment reactions on it. Structural damping is included in both plate and beam materials. A space harmonic series representation of the spatial variables is used in conjunction with the Fourier transform to find the sound pressure in terms of harmonic coefficients. From this theoretical model, The sound pressure levels on axis in a semi-infinite fluid (water) bounded by the plate with the variation in the loactions of an external time harmonic point force on the plate can be calculated efficiently using three numerical tools such as the Gauss-Jordan method, the LU decomposition method and the IMSL numerical package.

      • 뮬라이트 결합 캐스터블 내화물의 부피안정성과 유동성

        Recently there has been an increased demand for monolithic refractories. Among these Monolithic refractories castable are in particularly widely used because of their easy application to almost any kind of works. In this study the densification and volume stability of high alumina castable refractories was estimated as a function of aggregate size and composition, the amount of matrix phases, and their compositions. It was found that the particle size distribution equation given by Anderassen could be used for predicting the flowability of a castable with good agreement. The addition of microsilica and/or ultrafine-alumina decreased q-vale of Andreassen equation and resulted in better flowability of castables. Andalusite was substituted instead of fine alumina powder in the matrix for better volume stability. Despite of it's good ability for the mullite formation in the matrix, some ultrafine alumina should be added for preventing overfiring and bloating at high temperature. So castables with microsilica and ultrafine-alumina addition to matrix showed good workability and good resistance to large expansion at high temperature.

      • 순막조건화에서의 소뇌 피질의 기능

        토끼 순막조건화에 관여하는 소뇌피질의 기능을 검토하고자 소뇌의 심부핵중 하나인 중간핵 그리고 소뇌피질 단소엽을 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 실험 1에서는 전통적 학습형태와 대조적 학습형태인 청각자극 무제시와 무조건자극의 배쌍이 조건반응을 일으키는지의 여부를 알아보았다. 이러한 배쌍에서도 토끼는 신속한 조건반응을 획득하였는데 이 결과는 소뇌피질의 학습형성기전에 대한 기존의 설명 즉 조건자극제시에 의한 태상섬유 활동 증가와 무조건자극제시에 의한 등상섬유 활동증가가 태상섬유활동을 전해 받는 과립세포의 축색인 평행섬유와 퍼킨지세포사이의 시냅스 변화를 일으켜서 조건반응을 나타나게 한다는 설명과는 부합되지 않는 것이다. 실험 2에서는 소뇌피질의 반응시간조절기능가설을 검증하기 위하여 조건자극의 기간을 전형적 조건화 지수의 2배인 800msec로 하였다. 그리하여 소뇌피질의 손상이 손상후 시행의 조건자극제시기간동안의 조건화된 순막반응에 어떤 변화를 초래하는지 관찰하기 용이하게 하였다. 피험동물은 손상후 조건반응에서 부분적 폐지만을 보였는데 이는 전반적인 조건반응진폭의 축소에서 기인한 것이 아니라 손상후 회기에서 조건반응 개시 시각의 큰 변산에서 기인한 결과임을 관찰하였다. 이것은 소뇌피질이 중간핵과 기능적 연관성을 가지며 조건반응출현의 시간조절역할을 한다는 가설을 지지해 주는 결과라 하겠다. The cerebellar lobule HVI was investigated in terms of plastic structure mediating the classical conditioning of the rabbit's nictitating membrane response(NMR). In experiment 1, animals were received tone stimulus(80㏈, 1㎑, sine wave, without white noise) continually during the intertrial interval(ITI). The tone stimulus was turned off during the CS period. This withdrawal of tone stimulus was adopted as CS^(-). Animals received the CS^(-) and corneal airpuff US parings in delay conditioning paradigm rapidly reached criterion like animals received CS-US pairings. Moreover, the electrolytic leisions of the interpositus nucleus selectively disrupted the CR aquired by CS^(-)-US pairings. The result suggests that this type of conditioning is mediated by the cerebellum as well and the cerebellum can associate the changes of stimuli itself. In addition, there was no transfer effect between CS^(-)-US and CS-US learning. The findings are discussed in terms of the convergence of the climbing and the mossy fibers on the Purkinje cells and the associative functions of the cerebellar neural network. In experiment 2, the long ISI was adopted(800msec CS duration, delay conditioning paradigm) in order to investigated the timing regulation function of the cerebellar cortex on motor learning. After the NMR conditioning(CS^(-)-US, group1 and CS-US, group2) reached the criterion, the cerebellar lobule HVI was electrolytically lesioned with four electrodes. The result showed that the CR was reduced about 50% in both groups and the effects were due to the disruption of timing regulation of the CR onset. Results indicated that the cerebellar lobule HVI is essential for the timing regulation of the CR onset. However, to understand the detailed neural mechanism of the conditioning of NMR, it was suggested that neural network approach including several structures resided in the cerebellum and in the brain stem(especially inferior olive) is more desirable than finding only one essential structure approach.
