Bahk,S. Y.,Chung,K. S,Chung,S. H.,Funahashi,H.,Hahn,C. H.,Hara,T.,Hirata,S.,Hoshino,K.,Ieiri,M.,Iijima,T.,Imai,K.,Ishigami,T.,Itow,Y.,Kazuno,M.,Kikuchi,K.,Kim,C. O.,Kim,D. C.,Kim,J. Y.,Kobayashi,M.,Ko 國立昌原大學校 基礎科學硏究所 1992 基礎科學硏究所論文集 Vol.3 No.-
We have studied(??) reactions from an emulsion target. The S--2H dibaryon has been searched for by the analysis of the ??? momentum spectrum together with emulsion data. No evidence of H production was observed in the mass range of 1.90-2.16 GeV/c². Upper limits for the production cross section of the H are (0.2-0.6)% of that for the quasifree ??? production at the 90% confidence level.

We have studied 80 events of candidates for ??? capture star at rest in nuclear emulsion, where ??? hyperons are produced in (??????) reactions identified by a ?? spectrometer. The weak decay of heavy double hypernuclei is confirmed, studying the distribution of visible energy-release and the probability of emission of two fast protons, in comparison with those for single hypernuclei.

We have studied stars in nuclear emulsion due to the capture at rest of the ??? hyperons produced in the(???) reaction. The sequential weak decay of a double hypernucleus(nucleus with S= -2) has been directly observed. The double hypernucleus is assigned as either ???? or ????. This assignment excludes the existence of the H dibaryon lighter than 2203.7±0.7 MeV/c².

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising method for the localized treatment of solid tumors. In order to enhance the efficacy of PDT, we have recently developed a novel class of photosensitizer formulation, i.e., the dendrimer phthalocyanine (DPc)-encapsulated polymeric micelle (DPc/m). The DPc/m induced efficient and unprecedentedly rapid cell death accompanied by characteristic morphological changes such as blebbing of cell membranes, when the cells were photoirradiated using a low power halogen lamp or a high power diode laser. The fluorescent microscopic observation using organelle-specific dyes demonstrated that DPc/m might accumulate in the endo-/lysosomes; however, upon photoirradiation, DPc/m might be promptly released into the cytoplasm and photodamage the mitochondria, which may account for the enhanced photocytotoxicity of DPc/m. This study also demonstrated that DPc/m showed significantly higher in vivo PDT efficacy than clinically used Photofrin(R) (polyhematoporphyrin esters, PHE) in mice bearing human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells. Furthermore, the DPc/m-treated mice did not show skin phototoxiciy, which was apparently observed for the PHE-treated mice, under the tested conditions. These results strongly suggest the usefulness of DPc/m in clinical PDT.
Effect of Rumen Protected Methionine on Lactational Performance of Dairy Cows
Izumi, K.,Kikuchi, C.,Okamoto, M. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2000 Animal Bioscience Vol.13 No.9
Thirty-six Holstein dairy cows were used to evaluate the effect of a rumen protected methionine supplement (RPMet). The cows were divided into two groups of 18 each (control/experimental). The experimental group was given 15 g/d of RPMet (Mepron $^{(R)}$M85, Degussa) from the 4th to the 26th week postpartum. All cows were fed a similar amount of forage including alfalfa silage, corn silage and timothy silage. Concentrate mixture was offered in proportion to the milk yield of each cow. Sufficiency of major metabolizable AAs was checked. Milk yield and milk composition was monitored for each individual cow. A metabolic profile test (MPT) was carried out at the 7th, 11th and 21st week postpartum. Without supplement, both methionine and leucine fell short of the daily requirement. Supplementation with 15 g/d RPMet was calculated to be within a sufficient margin of safety. Milk yield tended to remain higher in the supplemented group than in the controls during supplementation with RPMet. The differences in weekly milk production at the 17th, 18th, 19th and 22nd weeks postpartum were significantly high in the RPMet group (p<0.05). The average 305-d milk yield and the percentages of milk fat, milk protein and solids-not-fat were not affected by the treatment. No differences were observed in either the somatic cell count in the milk or the reproductive status. Judging from MPT, all the cows were in good health during lactation.
The roles of antimicrobial peptide, rip-thanatin, in the midgut of Riptortus pedestris
Park, K.E.,Jang, S.H.,Lee, J.,Lee, S.A.,Kikuchi, Y.,Seo, Y.s.,Lee, B.L. PERGAMON 2018 DEVELOPMENTAL AND COMPARATIVE IMMUNOLOGY Vol. No.
Recently, we have reported the structural determination of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), such as riptocin, rip-defensin, and rip-thanatin, from Riptortus pedestris. However, the biological roles of AMPs in the host midgut remain elusive. Here, we compared the expression levels of AMP genes in apo-symbiotic insects with those of symbiotic insects. Interestingly, the expression level of rip-thanatin was only significantly increased in the posterior midgut region of symbiotic insects. To further determine the role of rip-thanatin, we checked antimicrobial activity in vitro. Rip-thanatin showed high antimicrobial activity and had the same structural characteristics as other reported thanatins. To find the novel function of rip-thanatin, rip-thanatin was silenced by RNA interference, and the population of gut symbionts was measured. When rip-thanatin was silenced, the symbionts' titer was increased upon bacterial infection. These results suggest that rip-thanatin functions not only as an antimicrobial peptide but also in controlling the symbionts' titer in the host midgut.
