        Characteristics of Diadochokinesis in Typically Developing Children and Adults

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of the rate and perceptual judgment of diadochokinesis (DDK) in typically developing children and adults. Methods: Participants were typically developing children aged 2;6 to 9;11 and normal adults. For DDK tasks, they were asked to repeat [p*a], [t*a], [k*a], [p*at*a], and [p*at*ak*a] accurately and quickly with one breath. The number of repetitions per second was measured as DDK rate for each stimuli. The perceptual judgment of DDK were also performed in terms of regularity, rate, and accuracy using a three-point scale. Results: Children showed increases in the number of repetitions per second for all the DDK tasks with age. However, all the children groups between ages 2;6 and 9:11 exhibited significantly slower DDK rates than adults. In the perceptual judgment of DDK tasks, accuracy, rate, and consistency of sequential motion rates using [p*at*a] and [p*at*ak*a] showed statistically significant differences across age groups. Children demonstrated similar accuracy of SMR tasks with adults after age 6;0. Conclusion: This study showed developmental patterns of speech motor skills based on rate, accuracy, and consistency of DDK tasks. This study provides references for assessing speech motor skills related to children with speech difficulties.

      • Clean Interface Contact Using a ZnO Interlayer for Low-Contact-Resistance MoS<sub>2</sub> Transistors

        <P>Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have emerged as promising materials for next-generation electronics due to their excellent semiconducting properties. However, high contact resistance at the metal-TMDC interface plagues the realization of high-performance devices. Here, an effective metal-interlayer-semiconductor (MIS) contact is demonstrated, wherein an ultrathin ZnO interlayer is inserted between the metal electrode and MoS<SUB>2</SUB>, providing damage-free and clean interfaces at electrical contacts. Using TEM imaging, we show that the contact interfaces were atomically clean without any apparent damages. Compared to conventional Ti/MoS<SUB>2</SUB> contacts, the MoS<SUB>2</SUB> devices with a Ti/ZnO/MoS<SUB>2</SUB> contact exhibit a very low contact resistance of 0.9 kΩ μm. These improvements are attributed to the following mechanisms: (a) Fermi-level depinning at the metal/MoS<SUB>2</SUB> interface by reducing interface disorder and (b) presence of interface dipole at the metal/ZnO interface, consequently reducing the Schottky barrier and contact resistance. Further, the contact resistivity of a Ti/ZnO/MoS<SUB>2</SUB> contact is insensitive to the variation of ZnO thickness, which facilitates large-scale production. Our work not only elucidates the underlying mechanisms for the operation of the MIS contact but also provides a simple and damage-free strategy for conventional aggressive metal deposition that is potentially useful for the realization of large-scale 2D electronics with low-resistance contacts.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

        개별화 학습 지원을 위한 지능형 튜터링 시스템 연구 동향 분석: LDA 토픽 모델링을 활용하여

        본 연구는 인공지능 활용 교육 맥락에서 개별화 학습을 지원하기 위한 테크놀로지 중 하나인 지능형 튜터링 시스템(Intelligent Tutoring System, ITS)의 연구 주제 동향을 종합적인 시각에서 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 Scopus, Web of Science, ACM Digital Library를 활용하여 2013년부터 2022년까지 최근 10년간 발행된 학술지 논문 836편을 대상으로 키워드 네트워크 분석과 토픽 모델링을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, ITS와 관련된 연구에서는 개별화 및 적응형 학습과 관련된 키워드들이 자주 등장함과 동시에 학습자 중심의 키워드들이 주를 이루고 있었다. 또한 ITS 연구를 구성하는 핵심 연구 주제는 총 4개로 도출되었으며, 이는 각각 ‘적응형 학습 시스템 구축을 위한 ITS 모델 설계 및 교육 프로그램 개발’, ‘학습자의 문제 해결 지원을 위한 피드백과 스캐폴딩 제공 전략 설계’, ‘학습자 성취 수준 진단 및 학습 경로 예측을 위한 알고리즘 설계’, ‘인간 - 컴퓨터 상호작용(HCI)을 위한 대화 분석 및 시스템 설계’로 명명하였다. 이때 연구 주제별로 주목할 특징으로는 ‘학습자의 문제 해결 지원을 위한 피드백과 스캐폴딩 제공 전략 설계’ 주제의 비중이 가장 높은 논문의 비율은 최근 10년간 대부분의 연도에서 가장 높은 수치를 보이고 있었으며, ‘학습자 성취 수준 진단 및 학습 경로 예측을 위한 알고리즘 설계’ 연구는 ITS에 관한 다른 세 연구 주제와는 상대적으로 유사성이 떨어지며 독립적인 맥락의 연구 주제를 형성하고 있었다. 연구 결과에 기초하여 미래 교육 현장에 ITS가 성공적으로 도입되기 위한 후속 연구 방향을 제언하였다. This study identifies trending research topics on intelligent tutoring systems(ITS), technology used to support personalized learning in the context of artificial intelligence in education. Scopus, the Web of Science, and the ACM Digital Library were used to perform keyword network analysis and LDA topic modeling for 836 papers from academic journals published in the 10-year period from 2013 to 2022. The results show that keyword related to personalized and adaptive learning frequently appeared in research related to ITS, as well as learner-centered keyword. Among the research topics, four key themes emerged: (1) ITS model design and educational program development for adaptive learning systems, (2) feedback design and scaffolding strategies to support learners’ problem-solving, (3) algorithm design for learner achievement diagnosis and learning path prediction, and (4) dialog analysis and system design for human- computer interaction (HCI). Notably, the topic with the highest in most of the years was feedback design and scaffolding strategies. In addition, the topic of algorithm design for learner’s learning paths was relatively less similar to the other three research topics and formed an independent context. Findings and implications suggest what topics can be focused on in ITS-related research to successfully introduce ITS to future education environments. Areas for follow-up research are also suggested based on the limitations of this research.

        디지털 기술을 활용한 공예 사례 연구 - 3D 프린팅을 중심으로 -

        본 논문은 인간의 수작업을 통한 생산물의 의미를 디지털 시대에서 방향성을 찾아보고자 하였다. 특히 디지털 기술 중 3D 프린팅을 접목한 공예 사례를 알아보았다. 가구, 의상, 신발 등의 산업 제품의 성격을 띠는 작품과 조명, 액세서리 등의 예술적 가치를 지닌 작품의 사례를 분석 연구하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 높은 가격으로 책정되었던 공예 분야에서 다품종 소량생산이 가능함으로써 개성을 중시하는 현대 사회에서의 경쟁력을 높일 수 있는 중요한 수단이 되었다. 둘째, 3D 프린팅을 하기 위해서는 소프트웨어 및 3D 프린터뿐 아니라 전문적인 기술력이 요구된다. 셋째, 현재 3D 프린팅기술은 계속 발전하고 있지만 제작 과정에서 인간 노동의 손맛을 충분히 접목하기에는 아직 한계가 있다. 본 연구는 시대적 변화와 손과 노동이라는 가치의 재의미화 차원에서, 3D 프린터를 이용한 작지만 의미 있는 공예품제작 시도가 될 것으로 기대한다. In this paper, we tried to find the direction of the meaning of the product through human handwork in the digital age. Especially, I examined the case of 3D printing in the digital technology. I analyzed and studied the works that have the characteristics of industrial products such as furniture, costumes and shoes, and the works with artistic values such as lighting and accessories. Results First, it is possible to produce small quantity of various kinds in crafts field which was set at a high price, and it has become an important means to enhance competitiveness in modern society that emphasizes individuality. Second, 3D printing requires not only software and 3D printers but also technical expertise. Third, although 3D printing technology is still developing, there is still a limit to fully integrate the taste of human labor in the production process. This research is expected to be a small but meaningful attempt to produce artifacts using 3D printers in terms of beautification of the value of hand and labor.

      • SOX18 as a potential biomarker in asthma

        Background: Asthma characterized by airway hyperresponsiveness, increased inflammatory cells, and fibrosis and angiogenesis. SRY-related HMG-box 18 (SOX18) is an important transcription factor involved in the development of cardiovascular and lymphatic vessels during embryonic development and wound-healing processes. SOX18 remains to be clarified in asthma. Objective: In this study we aimed to elucidate the role of SOX18 in the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma. Methods: Using an established mouse model of ovalbumin (OVA)-induced chronic allergic asthma, we investigated whether SOX18 is involved in pathogenesis of asthma. Airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) was measured and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was collected, lung tissue was processed for protein and RNA, and hematoxylin and eosin stain. Collagen was measured by trichrome stain and sircol assay. SOX18 level checked in lung human microvascular endothelial cells (HMVEC-L) and normal human bronchial epithelial (NHBE) cells treated with house dust mite (HDM). Moreover, we observed SOX18 levels in blood from asthmatic patients between stable and exacerbated state. Results: The chronic asthma mice showed that SOX18, PROX1, COUP-TFII, mucous gland hyperplasia and collagen deposition in lung tissue were significantly increased after OVA challenge. SOX18 protein in HMVEC-L and NHBE cells was increased following HDM treatment. PROX1 and COUP-TFII protein in HMVEC-L were decreased and increased in NHBE cells following HDM treatment. SOX18 in blood from exacerbated asthmatics was increased compared with those from stable asthmatics. Conclusion: These results suggesting that SOX18 may be associated with asthma exacerbation and can be a biomarker for asthma.

        Ambient Light Backscatter Communication for IoT Applications

        In this paper, we present an ambient light backscatter communication design that enables Internet of Things (IoT) devices to communicate through the backscattering ambient light emitted from lighting infrastructure or sunlight. The device can selectively modulate ambient light by switching a liquid crystal display (LCD) shutter located on its surface, so that a nearby smart device, which includes a photodiode or a camera, can demodulate this backscattered light information. To verify the practicality of the proposed concept, we design an IoT device equipped with a commercial LCD shutter and a microcontroller. Our device produces ambient light backscattered data at a speed of 100 bps, and these data are successfully decoded by a commercial photodiode module 10 cm away from the IoT device. We believe that our ambient light backscatter communication design is appropriate for implementation in various IoT applications.
